Wish List for Aperture 4 from a wedding photographer.
I just posted a list of changes I'd like to see in Aperture 4. I've been keeping track of features I'd like to see for the past year or so.
Here's the full list: http://portfolio.curiousimagery.com/2012/02/aperture-4-wish-list/
In short: I couldn't agree more with comments for faster speed and better memory usage. Aperture 3 bloats memory usage, gets hung closing, crashes, and makes inexplicably huge database files. As a piece of pro software from the biggest tech company in the world, I would hope for a better backend.
As far as specific new features go here are a few that I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere.

- Supplement editing presets with powerful custom FX engine. This would enable image editors to make custom multi-layered adjustments to images using photo textures, blending modes, custom masks, layer adjustments, blend modes, etc. The existing material shaders in 3D programs like Autodesk Maya are already very similar to this.
- Ability to organize referenced photos from Finder without corrupting Aperture library
- Tool to select regions based on focusthis would use image sharpness to create a depth mask that could be used for decreasing depth of field, adding atmospheric haze, selective vignetting, etc. (Id love to see this in Photoshop as well!)
- Real believable lens blur, ability to mimic natural grain on affected areas
