MBP 2010 13.3" 2.4Ghz 4GB RAM and Vertex 2 128GB

The 15.4" is my main workstation and the 13.3" is with me on travels.

I have an early 2008 15" MacBook Pro (2.4/6/100GB SSD/500GB HDD) although it sits in disuse most of the time due to my other computer because the MacBook Pro is so much slower :(. The only time I use it is when I need a computer on the go.

Nice. Looks like you built the desktop yourself? Do any gaming? I've been wanting to do the built PC/macbook setup for awhile. I want a gaming pc and a 13" macbook for school. Problem is I feel I would be on the MBP so much that the PC would end up being neglected ha.

thanks. i built the comp a little over a year ago as a gaming rig. But ever since i got my mbp about 2 weeks ago, i have been severely neglecting my desktop. haha. i find myself using my macbook about 80% of the time now. I even just ordered the apple wireless keyboard so that i can use my mbp in clamshell mode with my tv. lol

I have:

Macbook pro 15'' 2.0ghz 8gb 128 SSD
Asus 22'' 1080p External Display
M-Audio Keystation 61 ES
I've ordered an incase hard shell, but haven't received it yet
I use a timbuk2 Swig laptop backpack

I'll play. :)

Currently my main machine is a 15" 2.2 i7 quad core MBP, with a 128gb SSD and 4gb RAM. In the mail are a full BodyGuardz clear protection, Optibay caddy, and 8gb RAM that will be installed along with my 750gb hard drive.

I bought the i7 to replace my Early 2009 Mac Pro 2.93 Octo core.

In the process of selling my 11" Air as I don't need it anymore. Also had a 16gb iPad 2 in white but sold it as I wasn't using it much.

Interesting, you've cut yourself down to one main machine. I like the idea and have considered it myself.

I'm assuming you're pleased with the move so far. Do you miss the Mac Pro or 11" that much, or are you much happier only having to deal with one machine.

I work via a server and cloud so I can use any computer ... just doesn't feel the same as having that one main go to machine.

I'm the one who started this thread in the MBA forum, glad you did the same here for the MBP users .... I have one of those too...

1. 2011 17" MBP, Mac Pro dual ACD's, 13" MacBook Air, iPad2.

2. Main Computer - 13" MacBook Air ultimate, lot's of power and LOVE the 'use anywhere' size.

3. Currently using TimBuk2 Messenger, small.

See, thats what I'm afraid of and am sure will happen. I guess I'm stucking doing the 'ol refresh my MBP every two years so that I can have an all in one machine that can game well enough cycle.

Can't post pics yet as some parts to my setup are still arriving but here is my setup:

MacBook Pro 2.2Ghz 4C i7 Sandy Bridge, Hi Res Glossy Screen, 8GB 1600Mhz (yes not 1333Mhz, 1600Mhz works fine), Dual SSDs Vertex 3 + Apple SSD 248GB Total, 23" Dell Ultrasharp with display port connection, Passport Studio 320GB firewire connection, (LaCie Little Big Disk with thunderbolt SSD model, when released if budget permits), Razer Goliathius extra extra large mousepad, Cyborg Rat 7 Mouse (USB Overdrive), Sennheiser CX300 II in ear headphones and some speakers and a nice keyboard in the future (budget doesn't currently permit)

So yeah that is pretty much it will give some pictures when it is all setup, if this thread still exists.

What's the story with the speakers up by the ceiling? Is that a college thing? Wouldn't know. Never went.

dude cant you tell, those are his rear surround speakers. The sound goes over his head while he is sitting at the computer and bounces off the back wall and there are his rear channels!

You notice that his front right speaker is also touching his black monitor? Not only does that provide his right front channel it also throws a nice vibration through the display acting as a sub. Throw in the center channel coming out of the MBP and he is Pretty much dealing with 5.1 surround there

I have 2010 15" i7 2.66ghz with 8GB ram

it's my only mac, well my only computer at all so I use it for everything and since my work bought it for me as a bit of a bonus I use it at work so it gets used for 10hrs+ every day.

I also use my iphone4 a lot and the 2 work extremely well hand in hand :)

My sleeve was bought for £1 from a poundsaver shop haha. I carry it in my Oakley Icon 3.0 backpack.

LOL! That's quite a clever setup, then. I was wondering where the center speaker was and it's perfect that he's using the laptop as such (the right speaker only).

Originally I thought maybe he had the upper bunk in a bunk bed and he wanted both him and his roommate to be on plane with the speakers. They have bunk beds in dorms, right? :)

It's a college students solution to surround sound lol. Whatever works!

lol, that's an awful setup if that's actually working that way XD

I've got a a stock 13", late 2010 mbp, with a massive steel case desk similar to this - http://wonelp.com/Steelcase_Office_Desk_24_X_54.JPG

Also have 23" external monitor and desktop speakers. I'm going to be upgrading the desktop speakers though...

What's your setup consist of?

1. Which MacBook Pro do you have?
MBP 4.1 (Early 2008) Glossy, 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 160 GB Intel X25-M G2

2. Is the Pro your main computer? Do you use it along with an external monitor, another computer(s), iPad?
Hava a Mighty Mouse for stationary use and a Apple Pro Wireless Keyboard for writing essays, studying for guidance counselor at university at the age of 31, time for a new career and to help others with theirs.
On the run when there is no WiFi i use my iPhone 3Gs

EDIT: Have the network at home connected by cablemodem, distributed by an Airport Extreme. The Extreme hosts a Brother HL2030 B&W Laser, 1 HDD for Time Machine and one drive for shared documents and folders and external storage. In the livingroom the network is extended by a Airport Express connected to the stereo.

3. Use a sleeve, skin, speck case? What kind of bag or backpack have you found suitable for the Pro's?
Have a cheap backpack, doing it's job for transporting the computer and book to school. Thinking of getting a sleeve for extra protection.

2010 corei7 17" MBP, 8GB RAM, 256GB Crucial c300 SSD.

I find this setup ideal for development. Usually a terminal on the MBP screen, an IDE on one external display, and a webbrowser on another. Might switch the externals to vertical. More code on the screen at a time.

Haven't figured out a good use for the Ipad. So far its a $600 angry birds conveyance.

I carry all my crap around in a chrome buran bag. Its a messenger bag designed for laptops. It has tons of space, is solid as a brick ****-house, and the 17" MBP fits in the laptop compartment perfectly. The strap is extremely comfortable, and buckle makes it easy to get on/off. Like fastening a seatbelt.

The picture shows the strap/buckle, and laptop compartment. When the zipper you can see on the left is closed, a 17" MBP fits very snugly inside; it is well suspended.

HUGE THREAD is from the picture gallery forum. I will post mine in here anyways, as I just took a picture.

I have a 2.2 GHZ Quad i7, 640GB 7200RPM Samsung Drive, Matte screen and G-Skill 8GB RAM. I also have a Magic Mouse, a LaCie 500GB external, some Logitech speakers (Z323?) and an Airport Extreme (not pictured).

What's your setup consist of?

1. Which MacBook Pro do you have?
Mbp 13" i5, 8 gb ram, 120 gb vertex 3 on order :)

2. Is the Pro your main computer? Do you use it along with an external monitor, another computer(s), iPad?

Main computer for most day to day. Have a HP Desktop, quad core, 16 gb ram, tb hdd. The HP is the main home computer, do all my downloading and video decoding on that and use to game on it. Its also right next to my external hdd's and my AEBS for quick media transfers.
Have a 23" LED monitor with the HP desktop that i also use with the MBP sometimes.

Also got a 32" LCD tv up on the wall. I can either hook the mbp or desktop up to either thru hdmi. Or my synced itunes library.

Also have an ipad 2, moto xoom, and probably am gonna get the MBA 11". Probably gonna sell the xoom and ipad 2 after gmats are over.

3. Use a sleeve, skin, speck case? What kind of bag or backpack have you found suitable for the Pro's?

Just ordered a speck satin case. I also have the older Incase full sized backpack. I only see the compact on apple.com now.
