2011 15" MacBook Pro Hi-Res AG 2.3Ghz AMD6750 blah blah

Yes, main computer, use it with Samsung 32" 720p HDTV. I also use iPad but for my fun stuff, such as casual gaming and web browsing on the bed. The MBP is used for gaming, web browsing, casual video editing, and streaming videos for grad school, since I don't attend my lectures lol. The white UMB pictured is my GF's. She also uses this setup.

I have the Wrapsol skin, as seen on the palmrest. I use a Jansport bookbag that has a laptop holder and a cheap target sleeve for added protection when transporting.

I bought a secondary 85watt adapter to leave at the desk to charge both of our Macs and I use the other 85watt PSU for when I travel with the MBP. Dock pictured is used to charge iPod Touch and iPad first gen.
Other: Cooler Master P2 laptop cooler; Razer Naga Epic + Kabuto, Sennheiser HD555

IKEA desk with 8 slot cubbies. Underneath the desk is a Brother 2270DW wireless duplex printer. GF and I brother graduated with Bachelor's from the University of Kansas. ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!

CALVIN AND HOBBES :D Mind sharing the wallpaper? Thanks!

13" early 2011 MBP hooked up 1 TB WD Elements drive (half time machine, half storage) and Novation Xiosynth synth/controller/audio interface

I just ordered the maxed out MBP 15 2.3 ghz, 8 gb ram, 256 SSD high res. Glossy as I intend to do some light photo editing on it and some coda coding too.

Then I just ordered 2 ACD 27 led's and will hook the MBP up with one, when at home.

The other will be connected to the PC I'm about to build for my serious photoshop, indesign and illustrator work.

A LianLi Monster build PC with 3 SSD SATA 3 drives, Radeon 6970 2 gb ram, i7 2600k Sandybridge and 32 gb ram and no beachballs ;)

This way I get the best of both worlds. Will game on my PC too.

I just yesterday bought a 17" 2.2GHz MacBook Pro...and I love it.

I would sell my iMac and use the money to buy a Cinema Display to hook the MBP up, but sadly the MBP is not quite as powerful in Gaming as the iMac so its a no go to sell it.

I have:

Macbook pro 15'' 2.0ghz 8gb 128 SSD
Asus 22'' 1080p External Display
M-Audio Keystation 61 ES
I've ordered an incase hard shell, but haven't received it yet
I use a timbuk2 Swig laptop backpack

Great to finally see someone with the 2.0Ghz processor, who's working with audio.
Is it good enough for some descent music-production? Is it fast enough?

Your iMac is better at gaming than your new 17"? Interesting.

Well, I can play Crysis 2 with 1920x1080 on "Very High" at about 35 FPS.
While on the 17" MBP i can only play with 1280x800 on "Very High" at 30FPS

Same options and all. Only difference is that the iMac has 8GB Ram while the MBP has 4GB.

Similar with Dragon Age 2. on the iMac i can play on native res (2560x1440), High and HighREs Textures fluently.
On the MBP i can only play on it's native res(1920x1200) when i disable High Res Textures.

1. Which MacBook Pro do you have?

2. Is the Pro your main computer? Do you use it along with an external monitor, another computer(s), iPad?

3. Use a sleeve, skin, speck case? What kind of bag or backpack have you found suitable for the Pro's?

1.) 2011 15" 2.0GHz i7 - upgrade to 8GB G.Skill RAM, everything else stock.
2.) Main computer for my recording studio and for personal use as well. When at my desk it's used with an Acer 23" external monitor. I do dual screens. Acer on top, MBP below it.
3.) I just use an incase sleeve. no frills, does what I want it to do. When I'm carrying it out of the house, the MBP goes in the incase sleeve, and the incase sleeve goes into an HP laptop bag.

15" 2010 i5 @ 2.53 ghz, 4 gigs of ram, 500 gb hard disc, with magic mouse, and thinking about external 24" lcd. :) External WD drive, 2.5" 320 gb.

2.2ghz, 8gb crucial, at the moment only the WD black 750gb 7200 rpm and the stock drive in an external enclosure from Icybox. Awaiting the Vertex 3 240gb, but not sure I need it...

Had a desktop pc with quad core 2.4, but it was 2nd hand and I wanted a laptop. So now I'm pairing the MBP with an Eizo 22" screen, a ChillDesk Mini XL, a logitech keyboard and a logitech mouse.

I bought the InCase from the Apple Store at the same time I ordered the MBP. Don't do that... :) it will prolong the time of shipping. Just buy a bag somewhere else. Nothing wrong with InCase, just too much hazzle waiting hehe. It's very hand and can hold my ChillDesk or my Intuos 4 along with all the little gadgets you need while on the go.

see above text :)

I am back in school (grad school this time - I'm a glutton for punishment :D) and use a laptop to take notes/write code/write papers/etc... This time I opted for the 17" as I really wanted the resolution. It still pains me that the POS Dell laptops that I configure at work have the same resolution at only 15". That's really my only complaint with respect to Apple portables.

That being said, I also have the 27" iMac at home. I normally hang an external HDD with my iTunes and iPhone libraries off the iMac and use my MacBook Pro in my bedroom. Networking is a breeze, and I find that I'm actually my iMac less and less. That may be, of course, due to the fact that I'm doing a heck of a lot more school work than I originally anticipated .

1. 2008 Whitebook (MB, not MBP).
2. No; i3 iMac is main and iPad2.
3. Yes; Speck see-thru and sleeve for travel; I use an old HP bag for travel also.

Nope its PC so they will be hourglasses instead!!

No, because unlike macs, SATA 3 SSD drives work under win 7 !

Also can see you haven't used win for a while ;) the timeglass is no more. Now it's a running ring and you don't see it very often in power systems like mine. I like OSx because it's so nice on the eyes, however I prefer to do my serious business with win 7. It's that good a OS, believe it or don't ;)

just ordered two days ago:

2011 2.2ghz 15' MBP
8GB RAM
OWC 120GB Mercury Extreme Pro 6G
Seagate 500GB Momentus XT Hybrid in the optibay

external 27' inch monitor
Apogee Duet, studio setup

and waiting for Final Cut Pro X...

Just ordered basically the same machine as you (2.2GHz i7, 8GB Crucial RAM and 750GB 5400rpm drive), how is it? Is it fast at everyday tasks, (iWork, Safari etc) or just power intensive ones?

It's pretty Damn nice I'd say :) so far I don't have a single complaint about it. It's booting relatively fast and programs run smoothly. So excitement is In place for you I'd say hehe :) the only time I had a.crash was during cs5 editing while youtubing. I repaired permissions and havent had anything since.

Actually I use Win 7 almost everyday of my life ( I use software the pretty much requires Windows, although the new version is breaking out of the box). i had a PC desktop at work, but mainly work on the mac now with the image running in VMWare. I pulled all of my info from an older installation of XP (and yes there are still people and corporations that use it exclusively, so your observation isn't accurate. You haven't upgraded in a while would be more to the point.;) That must be why I still have the hourglass, and I like it that way. Fight change!!! :D
