This won't happen. But I'll still dream it.

Redesigned 13" with high clock speed (3.0+) AND Quadcores
ANTIGLARE option
AMD Graphics with 1GB GDDR Mem (Not just integrated BS) and more options
High capacity SSD blades standard at an affordable price
No optical drive
Thinner

Doubtful, too much heat maybe?

ANTIGLARE option

Possible

AMD Graphics with 1GB GDDR Mem (Not just integrated BS) and more

No way Jose! I don't think we should expect a discrete graphics card in the 13". Does not fit?

options
High capacity SSD blades standard at an affordable price
No optical drive

Doubtful! Going to piss off a lot of people.

Thinner

and lighter!

Makes me breakfast in the morning and rubs my back at night

Mine already does that!

My opinion.

Why are people still posting this crap?

Apple does not care what you want. They don't even care about computers anymore. They've said so.

"It's a post PC world".

iPads are now almost the same percentage of Apple's sales as computers. iPhones almost exactly twice all Macs combined.

That useless "Thunderbolt" port and no USB 3.0 ports are like the disappearance of the backlit keyboard on the Air. A big middle finger raised at the cultists who continue to drink the Kool-Aid.

The question that is left is... What device will content and applications for the ipad/iphone/itouch be developed on?

Mac Pro in the body of a MBA with a retina display.

lol
-16-core
-32gb ram
-sata 3x2
-no more optical bay
-ssd for os/apps natively
-OLED screen... with a 3D apple flying at you ..............:D
-voice recognition launch of apps

bonus fts to warrant an upgrade again!
-makes you breakfast in bed
-walks the dog
-pays the bill
-remembers to send out e-mails/cards for days and anniversary!

interesting... but 1 mac costs 2-6 ipads/iphones

still sure they are interested in macs, i think they market ipads and iphones at those who are non-mac inclined, and once they lured into th world of mac products, they will soon catch the mac fever

they will dump their pc, get a macbook, then a macbook pro
then a bigger macbook pro

before they know it they have a time capsule, apple tv, airport extreme

all this as they fancied an iphone/tablet......................ingenious!

i'm perfect example.. got iphone 3g...
2 yrs later ive spent x5 i normally spend all on apple tech

Gotta love the foot-in-the-door technique. :)

I don't want a built-in SSD that you cannot replace, nor do I want a optical drive. Since all my accessories are intended for a 13", I won't be getting anything bigger.

Shave off 1/8" - 1/4" of the black border around the screen to add more screen real estate, even if that means having an oddball resolution.

A replaceable built-in 3G or 4G modem for your choice of carrier would be nice, since then I could ditch my home cable internet bill without having to have some easily breakable side-plugged USB modem.

But all that said, I like my mbp now. The last refresh was not a worthy upgrade for me. And if apple continues to focus on iDevices and ignore the macbooks, I might be looking for another brand.

Free. Same specs as 2011, just reduce the price by 100%. :D

Ideally, I'd like a week's notice prior to the release as well, so I can sell off all AAPL shares.

Ideal?...

- Candy Apple Red aluminum body
- Hi-res, non-reflective screen, standard
- 1 TB SSD, standard
- 8 GB RAM, standard
- 12-hour battery, standard
- GPU w/1GB dedicated RAM, standard
- Quad Core i7 CPU, 100% faster than 2011, standard
- iWork, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, included standard
- Applecare lifetime extended warranty to original owner, standard
- all the above at current prices or better

Ideal?... sure. Likely?... hmmmm.

they should redesign the 13" line have the macbook be the same spec as the macbook pro but give the pro a option to remove the disk drive and put a dedicated gpu in then allow you to choose white or aluminium on your 13" :) my $0.02 for 13"ers

At 13"

Since I favor the 13" form, my wish that the 13" MBP at last live up to the moniker. It continues to get shorted in comparison to the 15" and 17" models, when more than a few would desire the same capability at the smaller size. In fairness, it may be that much closer now, but at a decided disadvantage without the graphics of its larger brethren.

On reflection, what I am probably looking for most closely resembles the current 13" MacBook Air in overall form, only with at least the capability of the current 13" MBP, and decent dedicated GPU.

To achieve that, as with the MBA, it is preferable if the optical drive is jettisoned. Hopefully the exclusion alone will allow enough more space for dedicated graphics, as well as increased battery life. The existing ports of the MBA would be fine as well, although inclusion of Thunderbolt, or retention if you will, would be good. The screen should be same specs as that of the MBA, but with better color gamut, as well as no-cost option of either glossy or matte. Retention of backlit keys would be fine. Then also, insofar as possible, less weight, too.

While wishing, something I would really like would be a no-cost, at least minimal cost, option of matte black color, the whole thing, head to toe.

Oh, and a little more attention to quality control. So everyone is puzzled at little to bitch about, but much to rave for. Although if trying to please everyone . . .

How about a 15" Air, Ivy Bridge, matte black finish, sd slot, 3 USB 3.0 ports, 1 Thunderbolt, anti glare option for standard res screen, runs cool, 256K SSD standard, priced at 1799.00 And an all out performance model for 2199.00.

Ivy Bridge
GPU's are getting a die shrink too soon, so the 2012 must be also one of the new ones that are smaller ( less heat, less energy consumption and faster ).
Flash + HDD ( SSD + HDD won't fit without loosing the optical drive )
More battery life.
IPS display ( iPad and iPhone have got IPS. Only the iPod Touch, Nano and Macbook's don't have IPS displays )

if they take out the optical drive in the 13" we may get a 1gb of Graphics with a bigger battery and a quad core with a second fan. Thats how much it could fit since the optical drive takes almost 1/3 of the whole unit

If either of those had half the processing power of a MB/MBP, you might have an argument.

3-5 years from now maybe, but not today.

You mean iPhones and iPads vs. Macs?

That was not my point. Macs are an ever shrinking part of Apple's business, now 20%. Clearly the Pods, Pads and Phones are their base now. Look at the ridiculous update schedule for the iPad vs. MacBook Pro laptops.

Apple doesn't care about the MBP.

I just hope they change their horrible mushy keyboard. I have a thinkpad from work and they truly have the best keyboards in the business.
