So many people asking for no Superdrive and replace with an SSD. Why not get rid of the Superdrive, but instead use that room for a better GPU, better cooling, more ports (USB 3.0, and HDMI standard), and instead of an SSD use 64GB of Flash memory like the MBA? Keep the magnetic HDD for storage.

I love the design of my late 2009 15" so I see no reason to update unless they make it thinner and/or lighter. Keep the aluminum unibody (black matte as an option maybe) since that really sets Apple apart from every other laptop on the market. I wouldn't mind a 1080p screen though. :D

Well it's obvious what Apple will do.... ...9" MBM (Macbook Mini), with titanium body. The internal hardware will be a quad core desktop i7 4.2, three way GTX 580 (desktop) SLI, 64 gb upgrade (for $30,000 from Apple), 640x480 screen, a triplet of 7mm fans, as well as a holo-web-gram.

13in MBP
Core i5/7 options
AMD 6630 (or equivalent of the time)
4GB 1600MHz
500GB HDD 7200RPM
1440x900 Display

I would love a matte screen, a dedicated gpu and the option of having two hdds ohh and a little more of resolution, retina display is truly unreachable in a large screen like the macbook 13 15 and 17.... and touch screen???.... i think they wont use that, is "unnatural" just not conf to use i think, this matters a lot to them....

They really need to upgrade the res on 13" screens. The MBA is currently better, so 1440x900 is a minimum for the next MBP. Given the references to 'HiDPI' settings in Lion, it would be great to see a display of 2560x1600 or so, although I expect we may not see that for a while. Surely though, if anyone will do it, it will be apple...

It's mad to think that 2011 13" MacBook Pros are about 6x faster than the 2006 MacBooks, come with at least 4x more ram, have more than 3x the storage, 10x better graphics, and more than 3x battery life, but still have the same display resolution. It's the only spec I can think of that hasn't drastically improved over five years.

Finally, it would be great to see IPS - it looks great on the iPad. I originally thought it would be prohibitively expensive to use IPS in a screen larger than the iPad, but the 42" panasonic tv I bought last month for £500 (~$800) is IPS, and looks great.

I appreciate the power and portability of the 13" pro - for me, the 15" is too large, and the MBA won't take 8GB ram - the only reason I held off buying a 2011 13" is the screen resolution.

-15" with 1680 x 1050 standard
-8gb RAM @ 1600MHz
-Ivy Bridge
-No ODD
-Replace SD card slot with ExpressCard/34 Slot
-USB 3.0 (though this will never happen)
-SSD boot drive + 500gb/750gb data drive
-Better graphics

I would much rather have more features than a thinner Macbook Pro. The current MBPs are already thinner/lighter than their Windows PC counterparts.

17"

Ivy Bridge Quad core
Liquid metal case
The highest AMD 7000 series 28nm GPU that TDP will allow
8-16gb RAM
512GB SSD or 128GB boot SSD + storage HDD as standard
Longer battery Life
better antireflective coating for glossy screens
NO optical drive (its time is past)
Bigger trackpad (the 17" has enough space for a trackpad the size of the external one)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

One with facetime camera that has quality of RED EPIC.

that's coming. they actually are shooting the second half of the hobbit on a macbook pro

Would love to see them get rid of the optical drive. I really have no use for it. I also would love to see a higher res screen. 6 gig RAM standard would be nice

That'd be awesome, but I don't see Apple putting USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt together

Apple is pushing Thunderbolt so I highly doubt we will see USB 3.0 anytime soon.

You don't seem to understand. All current Intel processors, including the Sandy Bridge architecture in the current Mac range, support PCIe 2.0, meaning that they only support USB 2.0 natively - at the moment, if you want to add USB 3.0, you have to add a PCIe 3.0 interface with a controller for USB 3. That is why many laptops you see right now have a single USB 3 port, and the rest are USB 2 - adding USB 3 incurs additional cost, and takes up space inside the laptop.

The next generation of processors, Ivy Bridge, due to arrive late this year or early next, include PCIe 3.0 as standard. That means next year's Macs will have USB 3. In the same way that it is currently a hassle to add USB 3, from next year it will be a hassle if you don't want USB 3.

Expect the 2012 Mac lineup to include Thunderbolt and USB 3.0.

Would love to see the super high res displays on the new MBP. If they get rid of the optical drive, they can certainly add a huge block of battery, that will cope with adding a dedicated GPU into the 13" plus extending the battery life in general.

If they do those things then I will no doubt upgrade right away.

15" screen with hi-res as standard, optional low res. Also no cost option of matte or glossy.
Thinner lighter design made from liquid metal or the same metal they currently use.
Softer edges on the palm rest and a slightly bigger trackpad that's much easier to click.
Not sure if I want the ODD removed.
The exact same ports as I currently have INCLUDING ethernet, and USB3 instead of USB2.
Better wireless with better reception.
Ivy bridge top end quad core i7 as a BTO, basically the equivalent of the current offering.
User replaceable RAM up to 16gb.
Blade SSD as standard offering full Sata 3 interface with full Sata 3 speeds of 400mbps plus read and write. With the same pricing as the new Air's SSD.

Now, I don't want any other storage device offered, instead I would like Apple to use the remaining space for a bigger battery and a more powerful ATI GPU, something higher then the mid range they currently always use.
If it means the ODD needs to go for that then I guess so be it but ONLY if they also offer Lion on a USB restore drive with the computer

A 13" MBP that will have similar perfomance with my current PC(e8400, hd3870),
so basically:
-better, discrete gpu(at least HD6630m) or maybe a intel hd on the base model and a discrete graphics on the highend/i7 model like on the mac mini
-ivy bridge processor (2 cores with HT is enough)
-USB 3.0
-ODD (nice to have)
-higher resolution( though 1280x800 is ok for me)
-being able to buy a swe keyboard macbook from US cos USD=EUR is just ridicilous
-same price

Mine would be for a 13/15 incher.

I would like a odd but if you could shove a dedicated gpu into the 13' it would be a good trade off.

I don't like how people want the mba slice design, it would make it so a smaller battery is in the computer. It's still less than 1' thick.

Make the screen that is stock on the computer the hi-res option, I mean its one of the better upgrades that should just be on the laptop from the start.

Make the hdds have a 750gb 7200rpm option. Cause the hdds that you get with them now suck.

Make the Ram upgrades not inflated like 300%

Drop the price about $300 dollars. With the price $300 bucks cheaper, they would only be about $150 more than similarly speced pcs.

Add a blu-ray drive to the 15' and 17' models. (If they would still have odds)

If the gpus are upgraded don't make the 15 and 17 ones less than 1.5gbs.

At least add a 1gb gpu to the 13' if it doesn't have the odd.

Upgrade to USB 3.0 because most all accessories use that and I think it will be a while before thunderbolt cables will be affordable to bundle with electronics. (The cable on the apple store is $50!)

If apple would follow this advice it would make me happy.

Don't make it smaller make it more powerful.

I only have few wishes:

- matte black
- much less heat production - how about Skype without fans running at 6200rpm
- application SSD + data HD as standard, bye bye optical drive
- even bigger touchpad

realistic (but my ideal) 13inch

Here is my hopefully within the realm of reality 13inch MBP dream:

1440x900 screen (with matte option for the love of god!)
4GB standard, upgradable to 8GB RAM
same hard drive sizes they have now
Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge processors (don't really care here. Everything will be better than my Core 2 Duo)
Lose the ODD
Give it a very slight (nothing near as extreme as the MBA) wedge shape
keep ethernet
lose firewire (bring out a thunderbolt to firewire accessory)
thunderbolt
2 usb ports on left and since the optical drive is gone 1 usb on the right along with a SD card slot and kensington lock (maybe the battery life indicator can move to this side too)

low range but decent discreet graphics in the high range option (ala new mac mini) this is important because it will actually make the higher end option not a rip off and really differentiate the 13" MBP from the 13" MBA

Keep the low end 13" MBP as a cheap option since without the white macbook you still need an entry level complete computer.

Battery life 10hrs -with real life usage

And if I really want to dream include a blade SSD for the operating system in addition to the traditional hard drive for MBA like speeds for all laptops.

I don't think anything I've stated is beyond belief. Very reasonable if you ask me but I have a feeling Apple will disappoint me as per usual recently...:(
