I guess I must have missed something. This is an apple watch thread, no?

Whilst it's an apple watch thread, I need to use some apps to play nicely with my Android-toting husband, the discussion was about a watch app that has an android counterpart.

i just downloaded it to try again, (I had tried and deleted it previously) - and the icons look just as large to me. How do you make them smaller?

Not had to do anything - they are just smaller (sorry they still have icons but you can see more than one item:

i Like Stocard, but it taked more than 5 seconds just to open wiith 4 cards inside.
And 1PAssword, that one goes slow too.
I think thats are the only ones i am using right now, apart from apple apps.

Yeah, no android app (I know you can use the website)... I'll keep an eye on it though. trust me if I swap again, I'll get nothing but grumping for weeks!

Buy me a pie seems to have an android app now. I might try that and Bring! Before suggesting one to the wife.

Bring didn't work well, for me on the watch. Whenever I clicked off items as done, they didn't stay "doned". I switched to Buy me a pie for shopping lists and it seems to sync well between iphone and watch.

1) Dark Sky
2) The Health Tracker/Fitness app which comes with the phone (flawed but...)
3) Wallet, I always wanted something which would suck my money right out of my account with minimum muss and fuss.
4) Messages, what fun, and with pictures!
5) The phone, right out of Dick Tracey.

Only 5 weeks in, but so far my favorites are:
  1. Fantastical 2 (Calendar and Reminders)
  2. Due (Reminders)
  3. Bring (Groceries)
  4. Microsoft OneNote (helpful when I save some notes at my desk and then need quick access to them away from my desk)
  5. Dark Sky for weather

I will say that I have switched from some of my favorite iPhone apps to competing apps that offer a watch app. Some of my favorite iPhone apps do not yet offer a watch app (or at least not a compelling watch app).

Why a dedicated reminder app like Due when Fantastical 2 also does reminders? Due has some more robust features for recurring reminders, custom snoozes, etc.

Now I'm about 5 months in and my list is mostly the same:
  1. Fantasical 2 (Calendar... turned off the reminder capability since I'm using Due)
  2. Due (Reminders)
  3. Bring (Groceries) - even better now than it was months ago
  4. Carrot Weather - replaced Dark Sky as my preferred weather app thanks to speed, reliability and customizable complications
  5. Yelp
The top four are the only ones I use on a daily (or almost daily) basis. Yelp displaced OneNote on my list, because I use it more often (but still not that often). It's a quick way to find a good restaurant or coffee house nearby (as well as many other things). There are other apps I like, but seldom use. OneNote would fall into that category. It's useful when I need it, but I don't need it on the watch that often. I know there are better workout apps than the native Workout app, but I don't really need anything fancy for now. After 5 months I'm finding that many apps I try don't really benefit from having a watch app... or that I would only use the watch app on rare occasions.

Is Fantastical REALLY a $40 app for the computer???

I only use it on my iPhone and Apple Watch, and the iOS version is of course much less expensive than the Mac desktop version. I would probably consider the desktop version if I owned a Mac. For calendaring at work I used Outlook 2016 for Windows, and I use Google Calendar in the Web browser for my personal calendar. The only places I really need to see both calendars overlaid is on my iPhone and my watch, and Fantastical does this very well. Something I really like about it is how well the natural language scheduling works (whether I'm typing it in on the iPhone or using voice on the watch). I always found it cumbersome to use the date and time pickers on other calendar apps. Mostly I just like it because it seems to be the most reliable app I have tried for viewing both Google and Exchange Online / Office 365 calendars on an iOS device.
