PageOnce is my favorite. Similar to mint but doesn't hammer me with reminders in my email.

I'll look into it.

Yeah, Mint was not happy with my rMBP and regular MBP purchase this past month (Overbudget, Overbudget)... pfft.

No sync software?

Seemingly a syncing software would be one of the top 5 for a MBP owner. Going through this Thread there was only one or two mentions of syncing software.

Is the MBP everyone's only computer?

Is there an Apple means to keep everything on an iMac and MBP in sync that I have yet to discover?

Is there a better Thread to pose this query?

Comments appreciated

Is the MBP everyone's only computer?
I have multiple computers at home, but the rMBP is my main computer. The other Macs are used by my kids and wife so there is no need to synchronization. I do use dropbox for files that I want to share and/or have on my workstation in the office.

Does anyone know of any good applications or even browser extensions that can download streaming audio? I had a few okay ones for PC but I recently switched to mac and can't find any :(

A bit misplaced on this thread but i know the hastle, thus i'll answer:D

I've dloaded numerous apps for this also and they all seem to stop working when for example youtube changes a bit etc..

The best thing to do is learn to dload the stream manually using your activity monitor

http://wordsandbytes.blogspot.be/2011/01/saving-youtube-videos-on-mac-os.html

Seems a bit of a hastle at first but once you're familair with how to do it it's the only way foreward really..

Hope this helped

PS. this works both for streaming audio and streaming video's

Hey how do I store documents in iTunes ? I have a wireless printer and sometimes need to transfer word documents in emails from MacBook to iPhone . Also please include hat u use ur apps for I'm looking for ways to get more use out of my MacBook

1. Ableton (music production )
2. Guild wars 2 (great game runs good )
3. Evernote ( to save snips of words or links or private info )
4. Safari Nd chrome
5. Traktor (go DJ !)

Window Magnet does the same thing, is less prone to crashing, and only costs $0.99. Cinch is the only program I have ever asked for a refund on from the App Store, and I've made some pretty poor purchasing decisions between it and iTunes.

Thanks for recommending Window Magnet. I'm a recent Windows to OSX convert and this was the one thing I was really missing.

New to the Mac world but, one app that I am thankful for is BOOM.

If you ever wanted your speakers max volume higher.. this is the app!

(there is a free trial, I ended up liking it so much I bought it)

In no particular order
- iStat and Menumeters
- Safari
- Mail
- Skype
- Wunderlist
- Evernote
- Photoshop and Lightroom
- Xcode

I know, you said only five, but i cannot put no one out of this list

Apart from the basics (Apple mail and Chrome), here are my top 5 in terms of usefulness, not necessarily most used...

1. Activity Monitor. I love this little app to death. Great to know what process is eating my CPU cycles or using too much of my limited RAM. I pretty much have it open 24/7
2. SMC fan control. A lifesaver for my lap :)
3. Photoshop. Yep. Gotta edit those pixels!!
4. Disk Inventory X. A beauty of a free program, if you want to know what is eating your hard drive space away...
5. Adapter. A quick and easy file converter, works fast, and is free!

Now my top 5 "most used" (not counting any of those above). In no particular order...

1. Microsoft office
2. Spotify
3. EAGLE PCB design software
4. Aperture 3
5. Arduino IDE

And here, for absolutely no reason other than I can is a list of mac apps I would happily have pre-installed on macs if they could be

Disk Inventory X
SMC fan control
Adapter
Handbrake
VLC
Audacity
Time Lapse assembler
Microsoft Office Suite
Adobe Suite
Arduino IDE
EAGLE
Google Chrome
VMWare Fusion
