Hey guys I searched the form and couldn't find this thread and being at college I get really bored because pfft who needs to study for finals..

Anyways the Family Video is really cheap around here, and I figured this would be a good way to pick up Titles. So post your top five movies :)

  1. Donnie Darko
  2. A Clockwork Orange
  3. Pulp Ficiton
  4. Reservoir Dogs
  5. Ocean's 13

Of course then followed by the other Ocean's movies :)

Oooh...this is hard. There have been so many good ones over the years.

If I had to choose five, I'd probably go with:

Jurassic Park (first one only)
Sleepy Hollow ('99 by Tim Burton)
Big Daddy
Kill Bill
Hot Fuzz

EDIT: 5th movie chosen
The fifth spot I simply can't decide. It's going to be between several movies:

12 Angry Men, Rat Race, one of the first 3 Star Wars movies, Jumanji, Scream (first one), ET, Breakfast Club, Unbreakable, and Legally Blonde (I know, total B-movie/chick flick, but I'm justifying it by saying that Reese Witherspoon is talented and there is some good iBook footage in there! :p).

EDIT: Forgot about Indiana Jones!

I also liked Air Force One, Erin Brockovich, even if it was based on a true story. :p

Have you seen Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke. Well worth checking out. Porco Rosso is neither here nor there.

Spirited Away is awesome. I wish I could have watched that when I was little.

There are some tripped-out parts in that - but its weirdness pales next to "Cat Soup" - wish I could find that one on DVD.

I really do like a lot of movies, especially comedies but those are my top five that I could watch whenever..

(kill bills, crash, anchorman, herald and kurmar, liar liar, benchwarmers) I am liking all of the responses and can't wait to check out some of these films.

Too hard to think of a top five but here's some from my collection:
-Wet Hot American Summer
-Yellow Submarine
-Clerks
-Sex, Lies, and Videotape
-Igby Goes Down
-Chasing Amy
-The Brave Little Toaster (yeah, I own it)
-Miracle
-Dead Poet's Society

And two not for the faint of heart / children / etc. Proceed with caution:
-The Dreamers
-Crash (not the recent one...the tagline on the front of the box says "...sex and car crashes"; adapted from the book by jg ballard)

Yup! I was running through the list of Ghibli films in my head trying to pick one :) they're all fantastic. Totoro was the first anime I ever saw, we missed the final showing on Sky Movies and I thought I'd never see it again  going back about 12 or so years here.

I've got a sneaking suspicion I'll be getting another Ghibli film or 2 this Christmas.

i would say its one of the best movies of the decade so far.

Definitely makes you think what really is important. It was hard to watch, but it makes a very good point.

I don't know if I have a ultimate top 5 list. I tend to have favorite movies in each genre... but here are some of my favorites overall

1. Maverick (I don't know why I like it so much. It's a very silly movie in almost every aspect)
2. The Bourne Ultimatum
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
4. The World's Fastest Indian
5. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
