This whole decade has been a big disappointment (even aside from all the other problems).

Boring, bland, and unimaginative is the way I would describe it.

The only good thing would be the rise of Macs and the iPod. :D:apple:

Oh, I don't know that I'd characterize it that way.

9/11 certainly wasn't boring.

A stolen election.

An african american running against a woman for the democratic nomination.

Perhaps the first ever woman or first african american president.

War. Unjustified endless war.

Corrupt robber barons created larger and larger conglomerates of money power and influence concentrated in the hands of just a handful of people.

--- And some good stuff:

OS X changed the Mac world on it's head and made it a zillion times better.

Lots of good music (to go along with the lots of bad music that every decade gets) such as the white stripes, wilco, etc.

Internet video came out.

Ipod invented.

and more.

Well I meant from a cultural standpoint. We don't have shoulder pads, or big hair, or anything like that. :p (yeah I know that's 80s)

The other stuff is just a mark of our sad times...

Yeah, this decade wasn't really...enjoyable to live in, unlike the 90s.

How about that Magic School Bus? good show

I bet you're not that old. I'm old enough to know that you can't see the oddness of the fashions or quirks of the decade until a few years after you're out of them. But right off the top I can tell you that all those gelled up swirly spiky hairdos the guys had will soon look just as goofy as big hair from the 80s looks now. Same goes for those streaky highlights that girls had, those are gonna look funny after this decade is over.

And that's just the fashion. Culturally, pretty soon gangsta rap is gonna seem as silly as 80s metal seems now. Lots of people have already made this comparison, and I think it's really true.

Trust me, it's not gonna be until about 2015 before you can look back at the 00s and start to see just how funky the fashions were and just how quirky the culture.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Barney yet. I used to love watching that.

Does anyone remember watching Masked Rider? It was a short-lived show but I thought it was cool. I remember having Masked Rider velcro shoes. Ah, the good old velcro days. :D

That reminds me of Steve and the "Dude, you're getting a Dell" commercials

I was born in '93, so I'm just barely a 90's kid (More of an '00 kid) But I do remember the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers! (I swear I would still watch that show if it was produced) Bop-it, Nintendo 64, Gameboy Pocket and maybe Color.

Ah... good times. Although I must admit, until I read this thread, i had never heard of Pogs.

That's exactly what I thought in the 1990s, when we were in them. Now I'm looking back and seeing all the trends and events that shaped the 90s in a different light. I'm sure we'll all think more highly of this decade in about 10 years.

Oh come on. Pogs were a brief fad when I was in junior high school. Maybe I didn't get into the pog craze as much as others, and they lingered around longer than I remember, but in my memory they kind of dropped off the face of the earth around 1996. You were what, 3? :)

Early 80's, to be more precise. I was about 10 at the time.

No kids program aired in the 90's or later would have dialog like this:

Alasdair: Alanis... I...
Alanis: Yes, Alasdair?
Alasdair: [voice cracking] Alanis... I...
Alanis: YES, Alasdair?
Alasdair: Alanis... If... if you won't go with me to the network party, I'm just going to have to kill myself, that's all.
Alanis: Oh, Alasdair. How touching. I really want to help you. Okay.
Alasdair: You'll come?
Alanis: No, I'll go.
Alasdair: You'll go? Great!
Alanis: I'll go and get my father's gun.

For the kids that don't know, 'Alanis' is Alanis Morissette.

I remember reruns aired in the early 90s as well.

They should bring back DoubleDare. :D
