I just can’t stomach paying, what, $20/month for YT. I know that’s all some people watch but it’s only some of what I watch.
I pay 6$ for premium with my student subscription. I think 10$ is the normal amount. Worth every penny. It’s so nice not having ads on anything. So much more content on YouTube I could ever want then cable or anything else and it’s updated daily from the people I follow.

Is that sarcasm? My Apple TV 4K works exactly the same way today that it did yesterday and the past years and I'm perfectly happy with it.
Yeah. Maybe im in the minority, but i dont like 60 fps. I also cant stand the hfr soap opera effect either. Personally, i cant see why i should upgrade from the old 4k ATV. I did pick up the new remote though.

I agree. I upgraded from 1080p to a new 4k set about a year ago, and it took me 2 days to go through and for every video mode to turn off motion smoothing, set the frame rate, etc. Unless I’m watching sports, I don’t want to feel like I’m in the room with the folks on the tv screen.

I still remember watching MaxTech and the host said that the new Apple TV 4K is not faster than the original Apple TV 4K since A12 is not faster than A10X in benchmarks.
MaxTech used to be decent but they've really degraded in the past few months. At best, they're regurgitating the same info found here (replete with screenshots).

Yes. Max was very good when he first started the channel. They did some very impressive benchmarks and spent a lot of effort into their videos. His brother Vadim was good too with a very nice voice and some good analysis of the market. But recently they have been regurgitating questionable rumours with some sensational videos for subs. Can’t say they are wrong running for subscription numbers but this will hurt them in the long run. I don’t think we need anymore THAT kind of YouTubers. Rene Ritchie has gone full downhill now and I wish MaxTech will manage it better.

I know this is all off topic, but I’m glad it’s not just me that thinks this - I was beginning to think it was. I think that channel had turned into a cheap tabloid now. Click-bait titles, the same old stuff in the actual videos, pure sensationalism. It’s very rare I unsubscribe from any channel but I did just that last week.

I could not agree more that MaxTech has turned into a link bait farM. Unsubscribed and won’t watch any more. He is far from the only one though. Linkbait titles and dumb facial expressions will make me not click every time. the opposite of what they intended. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

The Amazon Firestick 4k I bought 2 years ago for 50 bucks has been doing 4k60 on YouTube since it has been supported. And Dolby Vision, and HDR, and.....I am hardly impressed Apple.
hahah another one who thinks the rest of us don’t know the difference. We do. Also enjoy Amazon selling your data.

can someone confirm that the performance increase is noticeable?
It definitely feels quicker switching between apps, but I wouldn't say it is a huge difference. I got the new one for the remote mostly. I know I could have just bought the remote, but reselling the 1st gen 4k will net me a good enough amount.

10 second YouTube skip with one click is no longer possible with the new remote. You need to click right 2 times, then click the center button for a total of 3 clicks to get it to quick skip 10 seconds, unlike the previous remote only needing 1 click on the edge. Please tell me there’s a remedy to this.

Confirmed that the new Apple TV 4K supports 4K HDR @ 59.94Hz on my 2017 LG 4K TV.
I still remember watching MaxTech and the host said that the new Apple TV 4K is not faster than the original Apple TV 4K since A12 is not faster than A10X in benchmarks. It turns out that a newer generation SoC does bring some tangible improvement to the experience.
59.94Hz is the refresh rate. It has nothing to do with the FPS displayed in videos and games.

Just upgraded from the old ATV 4K to the new ATV 4K today. The biggest new feature is the HDMI ARC support. I can now route my Xbox Audio via the TV to the Apple TV and it plays it on the HomePods. Big change going from those tinny TV speakers to the HomePod stereo setup.

When you count how much time the Youtube ads occupy videos these days, it makes the adage "Time is money" even more valuable.
