Millions likely invested to produce that... It's less efficient than the previous design, takes up more space. Just my personal opinion, they should've gone with something else entirely. Even the older one was a bit more versatile.

Wonder how long and how much money was spend on this change? lol So how long till they change back to the previous one? 5 years?

So, how many you tubers have been banned today because they WrongThinked?

I'm in marketing, so I get the need and desire to rebrand. But in this case, the old logo seems better to me. It stands out more than a somewhat generic icon with text next to it.

That's what they want.

Take over the ISO/IEC 18035 symbol for the play function.

Sooner or later, you'll see kids saying "this old BluRay player has the YouTube button"

Worse. But whatever. *shrugs*

Weird to me to say they are doing it for small screens... when most phones are gigantic now compared to previous devices. And yet we managed.

The new is less iconic than the former.

Not suprised. Changing just for the sake of changing.
The article outlines why it wasn't just for the sake of changing.

Anyway, who cares about the logo. I'm not going to eat it. What's awesome is the new dark theme! Finally such an obvious feature for a website that is focusing on video.

In the App Store, the new icon is not shown as in the home screen. Wtf?

I'm surprised Apple or google hasn't released the ability to delay audio playback so that the words or in sync when listening thru Bluetooth

How about blocking all the crap that YouTube is flooded with? Say the "parodies" of cartoons containing all the swearing you can imagine. Or just plain crap, like 95% of the channels?

What's with this trend of companies making things worse than they were before? Makes no sense to me. Happens with products, logos, customer service, etc. It's like they just wanna commit suicide or something. Happens all the time.

In short, the new logo looks way worse than the old one.

My take: Weight is taken away from the right side and the word “Tube” as less people associate video content with the shape of a tube, or an old TV set. Instead it’s added on the left side and the icon, which everyone owning a smartphone is familiar with. Pretty thought out and balanced logo. But ultimately the viewers eye and taste decides if it’s good.

The only feature I care about YouTube adding is the ability to update a video without changing the URL. This is Vimeo's main advantage over YouTube. It's a HUGE benefit to content creators. Still annoying that YouTube hasn't added this feature!

I watch only a few shows on YouTube. If you hadn't told me they were changing the logo and asked me in a few months what I thought of it I probably would have had a blank stare for a second or two then asked what new logo. I'm not nostalgic about their current logo but I can't say that this redesign leaps out and says 'New!'
