Even though he's hammering the watch on a piece of sheetrock, I'm suprised it didnt crack sooner. Call these tests senseless if you like but if I'm shelling out for one of these watches, I'd like to know how tough they really are.

BTW, I would be very interested by real reliability testing (I mean something that is measured and can be reproduced, including real world cases... even if the final cases will be extreme).

Ironically, its battery degradation will start killing it from the inside in about 3 years.

My series 6 completed just a year in june and it's battery is already at 85% health just by charging normally at night on the original 5W charger.

The moment when he starts to smash the watch because he‘s annoyed that it won‘t turn on again - while keeping a perfectly calm voice. 🥶 I wouldn‘t want to encounter that guy in a dark alley.

That looks like one of those cheap IKEA tables made out of cardboard. Of course that’ll break before the Watch. I’d like to see this test on concrete or a wooden table. Someone contact the Youtuber and tell him to try again.

For the price it is. IKEA is all about enviromentalism and material recycling. While the cause is good, it lacks the durability and consumers pay the cost in the long term.

I find it’s rare to find a solid timber IKEA tables made of solid teak or mahogany. It’s mostly cardboard or chips.

As with most things, it depends. I have an Ikea Skogsta table in my studio. It's 7' 8" long by 3' 3" wide, with a top that's 1 3/8" thick made of laminated Acacia wood. I use it for cutting photo mats, book making, and other art-related projects. At 180 pounds it's dead solid. Not even a whiff of shake or movement when I'm using it.

Do these characters who destroy the products get enough views that it pays for them to do their unscientific tests?
According to his Socialblade profile he or she (didn't watch the video) earns between €1.5K - €23.8K. From my own experience you can roughly take the average of both numbers. So I would guess this YouTuber earns around 10k EUR per month. I would safely assume: yes, it gives enough views to pay for this. People simply watch dumb **** to unwind. Simple as that.

Not sure about that amount, but you sure make hundreds of thousands of dollars per year if you have 1 million or more followers, that is for sure.
Usually the ones with a million subscribers are like a real business with an office, employees and everything.

An extreme example is MKBHD who makes $750,000 a month but he has 16 million subscribers. Obviously someone with only 2 million subscribers isn’t going to make that much but it’s not hard to do the math and figure out they’re still making quite a bit.

YouTuber Tests Apple Watch Ultra Durability With a Hammer: Table Breaks Before the Watch

If my friends told me that I slap 👋🏽 them, never spoil!

YouTube actually pays pretty crappy. The money per 1000 views is 1 - 2 EUR. But this number can vary wildly due to a lot of factors.

The subscriber count doesn't say that much, more important is the view count and how many ads the viewers watch. Do they skip ads? Do they watch the whole video, including the mid roll ads?

Let's take ElectroBoom who has ~5 Million viewers:

According to socialblade he earns €1.7K - €27.8K per month. Similar to the person in the article. Again, taking the rough average of these numbers we get 13K EUR. This is a very probably outcome for him. Dave from EEVBlog actually is pretty open and does videos on his earnings. Haven't checked those in a while though...

So saying someone with a million followers earns hundreds of thousands of dollars is simply not correct. However having one million followers MOSTLY lets you make a very decent living off of YT videos. Mind you that you are at the mercy of the algorithm though and you need to grind out new videos all the time! So nothings set in stone or easy!

I have a Series 4 watch. I will admit that I don’t use it much for music or phone calls, but I view most of my texts and use it for turn by turn indications while driving and I use it to remotely activate my phone for picture and video filming so I do use it everyday, just not doing things that have high battery draw.

Right now I’m not having battery problems and until I do or until some feature is offered on a new watch I don’t have any plans to buy a newer one. But for what I bought it for it works well and I’m happy with it.

This thing scratches after a fall of a few inches. How bad can it be???????????
Shame on you Apple!!!!

I wore 5? out of last 7 series farming..... I work on things and I've had a 15/16" wrench slip and it my watch on a steel edge on a tractor and thought many time "well, that was it" only to have the thing keep going.... the crystal is off the hook. I have yet to destroy the watch. I've had a display pop off once and that was battery expanding....... they are TOUGH.
