I had a short run on Android with HTC One m8. I used loads of different launchers first. Then I rooted and tried different ROMs and finally ended up using stock android for HTC One GPE. No matter how much I customized and tried I never felt that good or comfortable with android.

With all honesty I must say that Apple has nailed it with iOS. Best mobile operating system at the moment. And best part is that I don't have to spend hours customizing it to make it even decent.

That's because it's so hard to develop on Android. Xcode makes it really easy to make good looking apps.
I know :p One of my friends develops our game for Android... I stopped counting the things I developed with "4 lines of code" that he said "there's no way I can do something this in Android". *sigh*

One day, I'll get him in my iOS team and we'll finally leave Android in the dark where it belongs.

My problem is I like Apple's ecosystem. But I can't take full advantage of the ecosystem because my iMac is early 2007 and can't upgrade to Yosemite.

Its funny when people in this thread are talking about lags and crashes and then say they had a S3 and S4, the old generation of android devices. Yes back then the lag was there and Touchwiz was horrible if you were using an android device. I can easily recommend any of the new Galaxy Series and say that they are right up there in quality with the iPhone.

I always switch back and forth between Android and Apple every year and I just made the switch from the 6 Plus to the Note 5 and do not regret it one bit. There is absolutely ZERO lag on this device and is one of the best devices that I have ever used right alongside the 6 Plus.

I wouldn't call the Note 4 "the old generation", and I had it, and it lagged like a s.o.b. My 6+ just flies along, doing anything I ask it to do, without me having to wait for it to think about it. Touchwiz can eat me, piece of crap software.

I can agree but the Note 4 was the last Samsung device that lagged, especially after it received the Lollipop update. S6 series and Note 5 are straight up no lag and they are making TW lighter and lighter. That lag argument will now be a thing of the past but of course iPhone users will always say they see lag regardless.

Just pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus after seeing it in the store.

No phone is anywhere near as attractive. It looks incredible!!

I spent a few hours last weekend playing with my friends S6 and it was laggy I'm afraid. Pauses between screen swipes and the camera app taking a few seconds to open rather than straight away. My iPhone 6 is a lot more fluid and responsive yet the S6 was 4 days old. It didn't leave me very convinced even if it's a lovely looking device. The camera was excellent but TouchWiz still reminded me of my S3 days.

I think if you are willing to fiddle and tweak, Android can be rewarding but I'm not into that. I just like a device with minimum effort to setup.

Here's the thing though: I mentioned I picked up my friend's 4S that he's selling me next Friday. The phone, despite being 4 years old, had no lag. I opened up apps, swiped up and down and went through all the motions of iOS and tested everything (it's running 8.4.1). It didn't miss a beat. I do that on my phone I have now (Galaxy Light) and it lags, slows up and sometimes freezes. It's BRAND NEW. It doesn't matter if it's not a high end phone. It runs newer software (kit Kat). Brand new phone lags vs a four year old iPhone that runs like new. This is why I'm switching to iPhone. Yes, some new Androids run quick with no lag but trust me: eventually they will slow down and then stop getting software support soon after. There's been no Android that has received software support after four years and that's why I'm switching. No one should buy any phone and then stop getting crucial security updates and have a slow phone. It makes a huge difference to me.

I love the freedom of Android, it's awesome. However, the apps look/work better on ios. And, the iPhone just works. Period. I've gone back and forth between Android and iPhone for a long time, but I think i'm finally done with Android.

Sounds like my 6+ it is far slower then my s6 and opening the camera has never been that fast ios it is far faster on the S6 I have missed so many pics because my 6+ was so slow getting going then so slow to actually take the pic.

Over the years I flip between Android and iOS it's always around the time a new iPhone comes out but this time around I'm really considering leaving iOS due to the progression android has gone through over the years. I'm really intrigued with Android Marshmallow I'm just waiting for the right android phone to come by that will convince me to leave iOS again.

Out of interest how long does your camera app take to launch? It's tenths of a second for mine from both the icon on the home screen or swiping up from the lock screen. I'm around quite a few iPhones today so will test out whether my iPhone 6 is abnormally fast or lag is a common issue. I'll report back later.

I want to like Android but iOS is more polished than Android and like you said apps look and work better on iOS.

My wife has a G5 and I want to like it but too many things you have to do to 'maintain' it for it to run smooth. With iOS it just works pretty much no matter what you do.

Each to his own I guess. I've had a look at the S6 Edge and it's ugly. In comparison the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are light years better looking then the S6 or S6 Edge. Even the Note 5 isn't as good looking.

I wish I could super BOLD your quote right here. This is simply the TRUTH that I realized after experiencing ios after almost a year. I'm glad I switched as well. You said many other good things, but your above statement is so true for me, and in general might I add.

The 5c converted me after using it for the 14 days then I jumped to the 6 because I wanted to wait till Apple went bigger, and I like the 4.7 size and now on the 6+(10 days ago). iOS 8.1 or whatever it was last November seemed familiar to some of Androids shortcut ways so that also made it easier to switch over. You made a good point about the support because I believe the Droid DNA should still be relevant with Verizon, but the last update was kit kat. That phone was before its time, but I will say the Battery would fail at 20% towards its end, but saying that, the fact that Apple controls their updates over the carriers is what I love. Waiting for updates with Android was like being in a soup kitchen line. "Next!"

Just wait, I've had android for years. One needs to do factory resets, and or root, then wipe the memory about monthly. They get like a wife on a tangent. ...lost if one would say, then ya reset, and get another month.
I've got a note 4 and its no exception.
The newer sammys are getting locked down so tight as they are trying to be like apple...biggest issue is all the crap programs the carriers load up on them...good luck

I've been on Android for the last 3 years now. Before that I was using the iPhone 4. The main reason why I sold the iPhone 4 was because iOS 7 was just coming out and was said to be miserably laggy on anything but the latest devices. Got a Galaxy S4 to replace it and from Kit Kat onwards it has actually been very nice to use. Before Kit Kat I felt I had to root and install a bunch of tweaks to get it running as I hoped. Lollipop is the first Android version where the stock Android system is fine by me.

Likewise iOS has finally come to a level where I don't instantly want to jailbreak and fix a number of annoyances. I think right now its biggest flaws are the lack of file management and the inability to choose default programs (like a default browser, though Safari is quite decent nowadays). Not having to use the iTunes desktop software is also a big improvement to me, I hate that piece of ****.

That said, I'm probably going to buy the iPhone 6S. The 4.7" size is perfect for my hands and pretty much no Android manufacturer makes a good smaller phone these days, it's just 5"+ devices. I also own an iPad Air 2 so having most of the same software on both my phone and tablet would be nice (and cheaper). Android Marshmallow also doesn't seem to have any decent UI improvements.

The polish of the majority of the apps I use is usually better on iOS - Also, the integration between Mac, iPad & iPhone apps is something I use way more than I thought I ever would - Very very nice to have my Overcast podcast player (as one example) always in sync on all devices.

Every year (usually in the Summer) I pop back into Android and try it again, but I think I've just had too many years of iOS now and am really really used to how it works, looks and feels.

I'm sure the opposite is true for some people.

I get the itch every summer to try something new as well. It's funny because I love Apple and iOS and I'm pretty content for the first 9 months or so of owning my device. Then I get bored and I long for something different. Right now I'm deciding between getting the 6s+ or keeping my 6+ and getting a note 5. This way I can have the best of both worlds. However I know come Sept 9 I will lose all interest in android and focus solely on iOS. Talk about first world problems.

I compared them I gave my wife my 6+ and she does not run much and the camera is faster now. so it was suffering from lag. but the s6 is a tiny bit faster but the 6+ was faster then it was when nI was using the phone. but when you include the time it tackiest click on the icon verses double clicking the home button then it is slower. the s6 does better in really dark and a little better in poor lighting first pic is s6 second iPhone and the last is in complete darkness with the s6

Hmmm I've been using my note 3 since it launched and the only tweak I've done is switching to Nova launcher. I have never done a factory reset or had any lag issues with it. It's been a great phone, battery life is awesome, it's fast, I really have no issues with it. My only complaint is that I wish the camera was better.
Most of my friends have androids of some sort and I don't hear anybody doing resets monthly.

The only reason why I'll be trying out an iPhone for the first time is because my MacBook pro has been so impressive I just need to try an iPhone. I hope it lives up to everything I read on here :)

My first and only smartphone is my 4S. For the past two or three years I would look seriously at Android alternatives, either for the larger screen before the iPhone 6 came out or simply to save money with a more moderately-priced phone.

I've been thinking about the 2015 version of the Moto X, which seems like it's going to be a very good phone, especially considering its value. If a 64 GB model is $499, that would put it 2/3 the cost of a 64 GB iPhone 6S if Apple's prices remain the same. $250 is a pretty substantial savings in my budget.

Still, I have about decided to get the 6S instead. I plan to keep the phone for at least four years, so the higher price seems less a factor over the long haul. The way that the iPhone works seamlessly with my iPad and MBP, however, is the primary factor that keeps me from buying a Moto X.

Anyone else? Or perhaps you've gone with an Android and haven't looked back. I'm interested in any perspective.

Im in Banking and I really like the higher security that iOS provides!

I'm just the opposite of you. I really like the style of the S6 edge a lot. 6 and 6 plus is just a stretch of the 5S. Now if Apple can give us more style, a better camera, and screen like the Samsung S6, keeping the IOS, than I'm in for it.
