Consider yourself lucky, I loved android but its getting to big for its britches. ..all locked up and all...anyway if ya dont believe me on android lag...visit xda website.....thousands have the issue..you can root, debloat and your set...like i said, they are locking them tight making it harder to root. ...all the fun is gone

Nope, I believe you lol maybe I am lucky. In any event I'm just happy to have options, and competition makes them all work harder to give us great things :)

Counting the days till launch day, I'm a little scared of the change, but I'm open to it. Hopefully it will work out great :)

You can find pages upon pages of people complaining about lag on the iPhone 6+ here.

I tend to revisit Android devices from time to time. The problems are more of utility than of design.
For example:
  • My work exchange server does not work as well on Android
  • My Android devices could never last through the day
  • The services do not integrate as seamlessly with my Mac, iPad
Nexus devices are great all around from a software standpoint, but up to the Nexus 5, the hardware was not as premium as the other flagships and the Nexus 6 is huge and expensive.

At the end of the day, the iPhone is the most stable, sleekest phone that fits in my device ecosystem.

The issue with Samsung devices and similar is they are seen by the manufacturer as old hat within months. I have a early 2014 tablet (released late 2013). Pretty. Ugh zero sw updates after around Sep. Still non lollipop 9 months after google released. Phone not much better and similar issues in the past. One big reason I'm packing in android for now. Everything just seems so disposable

This is an issue for me as well, and part of what's pushing to me to try an iPhone. I doubt my note 3 will see another update, which is a shame, because it's been really great.
I probably would have bought a Note 5, but with the removal of the SD and removable battery.... It's a huge turn off for me and pretty much confirmed my decision to make the switch

Just pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus after seeing it in the store.

No phone is anywhere near as attractive. It looks incredible!!

I completely agree. The iPhone 6 series is nowhere near as appealing as the Edge series. Samsung really nailed the look for the current devices.

That's one reason why I suggest a Nexus device for those who want to try Android. Coming straight from Google, they always get the latest updates.

I'm in exact same boat as OP: due for new phone, would like bigger screen, and tempted by 2015 Moto X – specifically, the fact that it'll be ~half the price as the 6S+, and that the screen and camera are reportedly great. We'll have to wait for reviews on those points, of course. (A subpar camera, which cheaper Android phones usually have, would be a nonstarter for me.)

Also, have been playing with my dad's Nexus 5, and I'm impressed by how fast and fluid stock Android is these days. Even the UI doesn't look so bad to me, and I've *never* liked the design of stock Android (and don't care for Material Design on the desktop.)

The biggest thing that gives me pause about going back to the Android "ecosystem" is losing iMessage. My wife and most other friends & family members have iPhones, and it's such a big part of how we communicate now. I'm afraid of missed messages and other issues if I were to rely on SMS (and asking others to use a 3rd-party chat app, just for me, seems impractical).

Same as the above for FaceTime, to a lesser extent. I have a work iPad, which is where most FaceTime chats happen... but nice to have the option on the phone as well. And again, asking others to use Skype or something seems silly.

Chances are, I'll stick with iPhone... but if the Moto X is highly reviewed, a part of me will be wondering hard if I shouldn't go with that and save some serious money.

Even so, there's always the meddling of carriers. When Apple says ios version x will be available on Tuesday at 10am, it will be out by then! the only delay you get is overloaded apple servers, not because carriers have their say.

this timely unhindered update/security update is something that i value greater than ability to tinkering around, specially after I added my banking info for mobile payment. I would not be comfortable doing so in android after stagefright, webview, and teamviewer's.

I compared them I gave my wife my 6+ and she does not run much and the camera is faster now. so it was suffering from lag. but the s6 is a tiny bit faster but the 6+ was faster then it was when nI was using the phone. but when you include the time it tackiest click on the icon verses double clicking the home button then it is slower. the s6 does better in really dark and a little better in poor lighting first pic is s6 second iPhone and the last is in complete darkness with the s6

Impressive full darkness pic. The S6 seems to do flesh tones better than the iPhone. There's a bit of sallow or green tint to the skin tone especially seen on the forearm in the second pic. That's the iPhone pic, right?

I always liked how true to life iPhone cameras render colors, but I've had some frustration with my 6 plus. It's been giving some blondes a bit of a green tint to their hair. My husband's iPhone and sister-in-law's iPhone is doing the same, so I know it's not just my camera.

I've been a bit frustrated by how slow my iPhone 6Plus camera is to boot up. Even my husband was frustrated using my iPhone camera though he has the same model. He's never had lag issues with this iPhone like I've had with mine. Mine sometime just freezes when I'm trying to take a photo if I try to change portrait orientation. Ugh.

I'm tempted to try an Android phone if it's a free trial. But like many others here I'm too immersed in the ecosystem to commit financially to the switch. I do have older android phones to play with. I had to borrow one for a few days. It was awful. So to be fair I would have to try a new model.

They only reason I have stayed with iOS is because iCloud and Handoff. Also other features like Airdrop and the smoothness of iOS, but that isjust little perks. I stay with iOS because to me, it is far easier to use, and for the people arguing, "Android is easy to use, you have never owned one so you have no rooom to talk" My response is, I own a Galaxy Note 4 as my work phone. I can honestly say, I hate using it. Especially because I have downloaded multiple apps that have given me mal ware...Not to mention 2 of those apps eere basically flashlight apps.

Hmmm I've been using my note 3 since it launched and the only tweak I've done is switching to Nova launcher. I have never done a factory reset or had any lag issues with it. It's been a great phone, battery life is awesome, it's fast, I really have no issues with it. My only complaint is that I wish the camera was better.
Most of my friends have androids of some sort and I don't hear anybody doing resets monthly.

The only reason why I'll be trying out an iPhone for the first time is because my MacBook pro has been so impressive I just need to try an iPhone. I hope it lives up to everything I read on here :)

Your last sentence proves the point tho about iOS vs android. Actually when you "tweaked to Nova" that proved the point. How is your Note 3 on Lollipop while hoping to get Android M. I'm sure 5.1.1 will be on the Note 3.

I used Android up until I tried the iPhone last November 2014, then got the iphone 6 that following Dec and now I have the 6 plus as of 10 days ago. So trust me, you will be impressed with the iPhone. I wanted to try the new s6 edge+ but touch Whiz is touch whiz and I don't care for rooting/Nova Launchers and all the other points people have made about not switching to Android. Enjoy tho.

Ecosystem, hardware, polished/finished operation, not fragmented, no bloat ware, resale value, sustained support, customer support&service, out of this world 3rd party support, App Store.

Android's color saturation irritates my eyes.

If you think "Android" has some default level of color saturation, I doubt you ever really have considered (or learned much about) Android !

What do you mean androids colour saturation irritates your eyes?

I find android easy to use, a lot of things are easier to do or even only possible to do with android.

I still prefer my iPhone 6 to my android phones.

This is my point. iOS so basic it's complicated.

Having to go to the home screen or open the task manager just to go back to an app. what's that all about!

How come the iPhone 6 doesn't lag or at least has very minimal lag and the 6+ does?
A lot of people say it has to do with how Apple has the Plus downscale the display to look good on the resolution that the screen has. I'm probably mangling that explanation trying to simplify it so read more about what's really happening here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/09/23/apple_iphone_6_plus_review/

Some people say this may be enough of a burden to cause lag. Burden on what? I'm not sure...RAM? Processor? I haven't really tracked that discussion well enough to tell you.

Living in China... simple answer is that Google and China don't play nice together. I am unable to get even the most basic of apps in the Google Play store back when I had a Note 2. Most people here tend to have an app (all in Chinese) where they can download all the apps they want from; I assume it's similar to side-loading except you don't need to go look through shady websites and instead just look through a shady app.

Most likely the GPU?

Entire family used iPhone. Family sharing is just easier. Helping them with apps and such is also easier. FaceTime is integrated and wonderfully easy for my inlaws to see their grandson. I do use android for a work phone, so I guess best of both worlds. In intrigued by the android wear announcement. It may finally be worth it for me to get one! On weekends the work phone is OFF so I could potentially enjoy the watch on the iPhone.

For me it is the ecosystem. I am all in with Apple at this point. I tried an Android a couple years ago it was a nightmare. While the phone itself worked great it did not integrate well at all with OS X. Plus I have invested quite a bit in apps at this point. That is a big sunk cost I am not ready to start over with.

The camera, Facetime, iMessage.

Android doesn't even have actionable notifications like iOS. Now quick reply to texts from the lockscreen either. Sure you can download Textra for this, but that shows shows the glaring holes in the Android platform.
