actually, that's only for the MacBook Unibody 13" (not the MacBook Pro, but when it was called a MacBook, but I think it's the same thing). The MacBook Pro models have no side strips, only two small strips for the back corners.

Not good but again, better than nothing. At least the lid and the bottom wont get scratched. Ill be gentle with him. Thanks for the info!

Hey guys

I'm looking to get a Vinyl Decal for my MBP...is it possible to put the decal under or over the wrapsol/invisible shield.

It makes me so mad the Wrapsol doesnt cover everything, almost considering getting both and putting invisible shield only on the sides.

I would think that putting the decal underneath the InvisibleShield/Wrapsol would be fine since the IS adheres very well to the MacBook Pro once the application fluid has completely evaporated, and the Wrapsol should be the same AFAIK. I also wouldn't bother buying both. While the Wrapsol may be more aesthetically pleasing, I don't personally see a way in justifying the expense of both. If you're as rational a person as I am, I think you'll come to the same conclusion. Go for one or the other.

Thanks for your reply!

I trust IS alot for my iPhone but I will not be able to handle that shine on my MBP. I think I will choose Wrapsol over the Is. However...I made a thread about this but got no hits, does anybody know where I can get Wrapsol using PayPal shipped to Canada? I dont want to/cant use my cc right now, any suggestions? I tried eBay already too.

No ideas, Taylor.

I bought the wrapsol at Frys today. If you do this, check the boxes carefully. My box had one sticker that said 17" and another sticker that said it was for a smaller one. The way the boxes are, anyone can open one on the floor.

The installation took longer than I expected. I have an art background but found this a bit trying. I watched the youtube video, which I recommend, but note that her version has the back in two pieces. Mine - mbp unibody 17" - was in one piece.

The template is made so all the pieces are a tad short. Probably so water wouldn't go everywhere. That part made me nervous, having water around my new mbp, esp with the trackpad top. I wonder if you have to take this into the applestore for any reason later, does this skin ruin the warranty?

Anyway, the video makes it look so quick and easy. It takes maybe 5x as long to do it yourself. And I ended up with bubbles on the three main pieces. Very tiny, but you can see and feel them. I found some of the corners of the top were not cooperative and had to go over and over them.

Still, I like that the computer has some protection from scratches now. Also like how the company has suggestions for using the other parts of the kit once you are done (for the squeegee and the water sprayers). My kit had instructions illustrating for an iPhone, not a mbp. Another good reason to watch the video before doing this.

I also ordered the Moshi keyboard cover. Spouse is taking this for the next few weeks on a job and I want every protection on this baby. ;)

I think I'm gonna order one of these, and maybe the Vyper case too. It's a bit stupid they don't protect the front, but hey, as people have said, better than nothing.

Okay, I couldnt resist the temptation and bought one today from Amazon.com. My Mac better be delivered before the Wrapsol. I hope it will be as good as I want it to be.

Trackpad and invisibleshield experiences????

Hi guys

just ordered my first MacBook pro, can't wait to get t!!!! I have used zagg on many items over the years and love it. Bt the last laptop I applied it to gave me some concerns re the trackpad.

I have two contrasting expereinces and would love to hear from anyone who actually applied the invisible shield onto a mbp trackpad.

On the eeepc I have the trackpad became really touch to use and often unresponsive. But on the iPod touch the screen works great. There is a slight resistence but improves things to my mind!

So what have others found when they have applied the invisible shield to a mbp track pad???

I wasn't a fan. It made the trackpad grippy, and my finger didn't slide across as smoothly. I ended up removing mine and just letting the trackpad be naked. I liked it much better that way.

However, if you liked your ipod with the resistance, you might enjoy the feeling of the IS on your trackpad. You'll probably just have to test it.

Good luck.

It's not a pleasant experience at all, but then again, for me at least, nor is using the trackpad naked. I personally have found that I much prefer using a Moshi TrackGuard (which comes with the PalmGuard) to add a little resistance without the trackpad feeling "sticky."

Wish I had read this before I went to Fry's. When I bought my Wrapsol and got it home, I realized the box had no spray, no squeegee, and no cloth in it. Annoying. I had to drive all the way back right around rush hour (because I'm impatient).

I had grabbed the last one for a 13" MBP, but they agreed to just give me the spray, cloth, and squeegee from one of the other packages. It took me and the customer service rep two packages to find all the items. So if you plan to buy from a retail store, definitely double check the contents before you leave the store.

Pictures of the Wrapsol installed sold me on it over the IS/BSE this time around. I liked the matte look over the shiny/grippy look of the other shields. I have installed the IS/BSE on probably 4 Mac laptops at this point, so I felt comfortable putting it on.

My install:

I found that the Wrapsol pieces did not slide as easily on the MBP when wet. This made aligning a bit more difficult. I'm not sure if it's the content of the spray or the material. I've noticed in the past that when any shield spray is more watery and less soapy, it slides with more difficulty. So perhaps that's the reason.

Either way, it took me about 6 tries to line up the lid, and another 5 or 6 tries on the bottom piece. I put a large, thin microfiber under the lid, so when I squeegeed out water, it went directly onto the overhanging edges of the microfiber. This definitely worked better for absorbing water immediately and I got no excess moisture on edges or near ports.

Once the lid was lined up, it was fairly easy. The squeegee worked well (better than a credit card) and I had almost no bubbles. The corners were a little annoying, but I just let it set a bit, then pressed them down with my fingers. After a couple of tries they stuck. I wanted my corners perfect, so I was patient through this part.

The bottom was trickier, only because of the screw/feet holes. I got lucky and was able to line it up right fairly quickly. I did this squeegeeing slower, since I had to wipe the water as I did. For some reason I was far more paranoid about the water during this install, and I've done lots of IS/BSE installs. Probably because the MBP I was doing it on was literally hours old. Once the bottom was done and bubble-free, I did the palm rest.

This actually proved to be the most difficult area. The thin strips for above and below the track pad stretched a little while I was pulling the piece free of its backing. This affected alignment. I managed to get it mostly perfect, but I have a sliver of overhang on the right side of my palm rest. It's too small for me to trim with scissors, even tiny ones, so I may just leave it alone. Otherwise the coverage is excellent fit-wise.

I skipped the track pad piece because I prefer my track pad naked.

Almost 12 hours later, I have one tiny bubble that I can see, and no hairs, dust, or particles trapped under it. The install looks fantastic.

Overall:

The look of the Wrapsol is excellent. I was a former IS/BSE disciple for the peace of mind of no scratches, so I have always been pro-shield. I must say I really prefer the matte finish. It is more like the original look, and feels less rubbery with no orange peel.

Cost: $29.99 + tax at Fry's.

Time: 36 minutes

I'll see if I can snap some pictures of the finished product later on.

Thanks guys

I am gonna put the IS on the whole mbp and then see how it goes!! I am also getting a magic mouse for when I use the mbp in a desktop mode.

Will report back re my expereinces.

They Suck!

honestly I had the invisible shield to do away with my bulky hardshell case...I hated it...luckly I had a 50 percent off coupon I would of been even more upset if I paid 50 bucks for some plastic lamination...1. the installation was a pain took an hour do do...2 the big pieces folded on eachother and almost ripped...3 left on for a few days and the corners started peeling up...and 4...REALLY REALLY hate the fact i had to cover my mbp in water solution...and on top of it all Zagg is by far the worst company when it comes to costumer service...I first wrote them nicely if I could get a replacement for the palm rest because it ripped in installation....they then told me id have to send them the whole thing back and pay for shipping there and back which would of been half the cost i already paid for it...then I said I just want a refund and again had to ship it back....keep in mind everytime I wrote them an email it took them 2 weeks to reply, and by the time I asked for my refund they said Ive already had the product to long...needless to say I took the ugly mess off my computer and threw it away...I wrote the company a review telling them ill never buy from them again...I have a speck case and their costumer service is great my case broke and they send me out a new one the next day no questions asked they just needed a picture of the damage....or get an incase sleeve do whatever you can to stay away from zagg

I too don't like ZAGG, however I disagree that they have bad customer service. It wasn't really their fault that you made a mistake, and the shipping shouldn't be too much, and about the refund, if it was >90 days then I don't see what the problem is.

But ZAGG has very bad build quality, I got a cover for my phone AND my MacBook Pro and BOTH came with scratches on them... scratch-proof products shipping with scratches on them isn't very good.
