$3500 bucks to have my annoying zoom meeting floating in 3D. If this is what developers are cooking up for VP it’s off to a slow start.
What would you expect Zoom to do? But that doesn't mean the person with the AVP won't have other stuff in their vision at the same time. it also means they can do other things while walking around, like making breakfast, having a shower or walking the dog 🐕 😃

I agree, but they haven't shown that in the screen shot. I never said they would show people using it. Like I said, I guess we will see when the App Store is available? I'm not sure if it's up in the US yet, as I am in Australia. Is it up on the 2nd Feb or up now?
Nope, afaik App Store not available, nor are VP optimized apps listed in other app stores (like iOS/iPad apps are in Mac Store)

In the next few months, we are going to see many very thoroughly thought-out use cases and applications for AVP. At WWDC, future applications will be revealed.

Apple Vision Pro and visionOS are just making their entrance on Feb 2. It would be a mistake to think that is all there is to this new class of product.

Spatial computing is much more than AR/VR. It's a whole new dimension for productivity, collaboration and entertainment.

Meta Quest, Xreal, etc. simply do not measure up to the standard and experience Apple Vision Pro debuts.

Okay, but nobody in that screenshot is wearing a Vision Pro...

You wont see them wearing one.

I’m guessing you didn’t read the article or missed the note that they will add the ability to share 3D objects, like architectural plans or product mockups, on Zoom calls. That could bring a whole new level of productivity to collaborative work meetings.

This is actually a downside of the Vision Pro.

If I haven't seen someone in a while and vice versa, isn't one of the points of a Zoom call to see what that person looks like at the moment and not what the person looked like months ago, a year ago, or whenever the "Persona" was created? Or are people going to update their "Persona" every time their appearance changes (i.e. you grow or shave off a beard; you grow out your hair or cut off your long hair; etc.)? You can't even show off a new tattoo.

Think back to how people were using Zoom to keep in touch with friends and family members during the pandemic. I guess people will have to fall back to using FaceTime on their iPhone/iPad/Mac.

I didn't realize anybody used Zoom for personal communications. They do?

If Zoom is entering the space, pretty soon MS Teams will be on it as well. Now, Apple is building a movie Catalog and will soon have a wider choice. Regarding Netflix, if you remove the vast majority of B,C...Z movies, there is no major setback in not having them on AVP.

Look at the oculus: Netflix has not gone the extra mile to make the Netflix experience on oculus or any previous iteration of an AR/VR device a great experience.

I am convinced that Netflix is working on a AVP app as we all debate pros and cons of AVP

(I could add the list of Apple devices I own here but it would be too long for all to go through it...)

Or that someone not understanding or being able to imagine its breadth of potential applications/uses will summarily dismiss AVP. That's a MR tradition with respect to any new Apple device.
Yeah. I remember the good old days when it was people excited about technology. Now it’s cool to be a dismissive cynic without adding anything to the discussion. Cheap shots for the likes I guess.

Back on topic though, I can understand people’s dread about Zoom as a killer app.

I can see it being a very useful app. But not rising to killer app status.

I think that's because it takes zero effort or thoughtful consideration to summarily dismiss any new Apple device. Apparently many feel it elevates one's cred here. In reality, though, it's just laziness.

It's going to be so wild if Zoom of all things turns out to be THE killer app for Vision Pro. :p
