The same could be said of the late Mr. Jobs
The same can be said of almost anyone...but that doesn't make it true. If you want to make a point I suggest you back it up with some facts.
The same could be said of the late Mr. Jobs
Besides running in the dark using the phone as a flashlight while you simultaneously answer a call and change the song, what can they do?
So sorry. If you're still in mourning...my apologies.
(that "glib" thing really hurt...)
The same can be said of almost anyone...but that doesn't make it true. If you want to make a point I suggest you back it up with some facts.
And that was my point..
Offend easily?
If that was your point, it was not very clear. It came across as a put down of Steve Jobs. I'm used to people making "anti-Jobs" comments here, so I presumed you were doing the same. Sorry for my wrong presumption. Still I think your point could have been made more clearly.
So your saying the honest one who gave back to the community that gave him so much is having a great time, and the one who took much and never gave anything in return is not? Sounds like Karma and just deserts to me..
I'm not a big fan of the late Mr. Jobs.
It would be quite clear if you read the post I quoted..of followed the whole thread..
But not to worry if you keep up on my posts you'll find plenty of anti-jobs here are some just from today.
==============================
As I recall, that (ditching the UI and using just the API) has been possible since Android's launch. There is zero benefit to doing that though when you can just customise the existing UI ...
... I just dont see them moving away from Android for a long time yet. They have no real ecosystem at all.
But... Apple still makes Macs... What market share do they have, and have they had historically?
(Don't attack me, I've had a Mac since '86, I'm just saying)
One of the main reasons for the iPhone becoming a huge hit is that it is first and foremost a PHONE. And all other processes and tasks took a backseat to the PHONE(as in getting a call and making a call)...
I say this from experience because I had a Samsung BlackJack running Windows Embedded(?)... and when I dialed a number the background processes would hose up the CPU that it would take 5 seconds for the numbers to show up and then suddenly show up in a hurry and start dialing, only to realize that I had pressed a wrong number. It was frustrating as heck! I could say the same with a Motorola Droid I had.
With the iPhone, Apple made sure that the phone always works, because its what it is, in the first place! And I never had issues with it apart from AT&T with its fake coverage map and lousy signals.
Facebook trying to talk Apple down for not putting their app all over your face is sour grapes. On Androids,I hope there is a way to get rid of that as an user option. I am buying a phone and paying and arm and a leg for service every month to talk to people and not get zuckered into farcebook. Everything else is a luxury.
I never knew Steve Jobs personally and I assume the same applies to you.
Like most humans he was complex and flawed. I don't idolize or demonize him. There are things about him that I disliked, but I tend to focus on the positive instead of the negative in most things. I am pretty much agnostic toward life in general. I don't have an ax to grind when it comes to personalities, although I do have an intense dislike for slick, glib, and shallow minded people. I'm not saying you are that, but I will say I won't be keeping up on your posts because you're not that interesting...Seriously.
Apple is losing ground everyday?
I suggest you to look the front page and the new data for market share.
Android sucks so much and the only reason they have some market shreis because when you enter in the store 90% of the handsets are with Android, so people who cant pay for iPhone go and buy any other phone, which ofcourse comes with Android. Half of their users still use Android 2.1. Google has more than 200 different phones with their OS on the market. Apple has 1 and 90% of the users use the latest iOS. I want closet secure OS Zuckerberg. I want reviewed apps, i want stability and perfect comunication betwen hardware and software, i want security. So **** you and **** Zuckerberg, and ****s the devs.
Market share is not all it's cracked up to be when your talking money from apps. Apple clearly leads in this category.
Android has market share for one reason and one reason alone. Cheap/free android handsets. Apple is still taking back market share also.
I don't know what the argument is...
Do people want this on their lock and home screens?

This is WAY BETTER... Really?

I don't..
and I am..
but I'll keep track of yours since you so easy to offend
Stability >> "Openess"
But still, apple needs to step it up on the software front.
How can you determine he gained nothing by it. There are quite a few Android users in the world. Right? And for HIS purposes, Android is a better experience because he can integrate with the OS. Something he could never do with iOS - therefor HIS vision of FB home is definitely going to be better on Android then iOS.
And no - I think Apple was probably very tickled by his comment. Why? For one he said HE prefers using the iPhone. And Apple is very happy with the fact they control both hardware and software. It re-inforced Apple's messaging in that regard and put another target on Android's back.
So I disagree with you that nothing was gained.
Zero benefit? Eliminating dependence on Google for bug-fixes, tactical updates, strategic platform direction and replacing all that with an OS that Samsung owns and controls is a huge benefit. And ditching Google's profit layer will be essential in the future. Hardware profits will decline over time, as retail prices drop. It's inevitable for Samsung, Apple, and everyone else. The ecosystem is where profits will come from in 20 years.
Customize the existing UI? Why do you think Samsung did that? Because their engineers were bored? Nope. They did it to differentiate themselves from the generic wannabes who don't have the engineering resources to do that. To cover up the bare Android UI with their own UI, which allows them to erase the word Android from their marketing literature.
The Galaxy S4 launch avoided all mention of Google and included the word "Android" only once or twice, as Samsung explained how they'd improved security beyond what Google's generic release can provide. The Galaxy brand is more important to Samsung than the Google or Android brands. Important enough that they are hedging their bets with Tizen. A Tizen Android phone is on track for release this year.
And guess what. Tizen can run Android apps.
So, you don't see Samsung moving away from Android any time soon? Well if Samsung is in it for the long run (and it appears that they will be the only Android hardware partner with any significant market share going forward) then Samsung will take a careful strategic approach. They can't blow it like Nokia, RIM, Microsoft, Palm, LG, HTC, Dell, Lenovo, et al.
Samsung will use Android only because they have to. Develop Tizen because they want to. Develop their Samsung Hub ecosystem (you may have heard of this during the Galaxy S4 launch) because they absolutely need to.
And when Tizen and Samsung Hub are ready, buh bye Google.
Good luck with that whole Motoroogle mess.

For that matter, what market share do BMW and Mercedes have in the US?
Low-single-digits I'd guess. But their profit share keeps them going.
Apple's profit share is massive, even in legacy desktop and laptop Macs.
Now compare that to LG's and HTC's profit share in the mobile space.
Slim to none, and Slim just left town.
while it maybe more open, it's still not a better experience than iPhone
but on Android even ALL the settings menus have to be completely redone as no one i know can use them.
