I can't see this holding up to well in the way of drop protection, it's more for the security of the smart cover. IMO I don't think it would protect the iPad too much from a 1m drop onto Ash-vault, but I am not going to test it for you! 🙂

Since it sounds like the drop protection is a big deal for you i'd recommend one of the Otterbox cases for your iPad.

thanks, i looked like 3 hours now, and i bought the iballz online.
They seem a bit silly but they actually look nice together with their lid sleeve.
now i at least have a better chance on a non damaged ipad 2 as a broken ipad 2 when i drop it.

Got the Zum today in frost along with a black smart cover. Love it! Give thenipad protection without sacrificing form factor and weight. I should have done this all along.

This is the route I'm going as well. Black, 32 gb iPad 2, Black leather smart cover, Zum in Frost color.

where were you able to find it in frost, can't find anyone that has it (amazon has it as unavailable)

I got the frost from amazon before it was unavailable. Try the Zum website. I think it says that some are available at best buy.

My Belkin snap case was terrible!

All 4 sides chipped, and the grey frost color has begun to fade... thanks for the link to this case, will buy it tonight!

Was looking to get a second one in frost from amazon and the price went up $5! How did it become worth 5 more dollars in a week?

you really don't know?

Think about it....I would have raised it 10 if it was my product....

I do know...just trying to make a point. It's still the cheapest option with twice the functionality of other backplates of it's kind. Was just sayin...

Amazon prime is amazing. Ordered my case yesterday afternoon with free2 day shipping and it already arrived. Got the black case and it's a PERFECT match for my dark grey smart cover.

Wife loves the combo so much I think she's going to return her speck cover

Well I have been using zum + smart cover combo for almost two months... touch wood.. my ipad2 still in one piece.

my baby still uses it for about an hour a day for some of her favorite games.. and most importantly she knows she needs to take care of it, if not her favorite toy will be gone ... thats priceless... 😀

Tomorrow we will get another smart cover..full of food stains 😉... but the zum case is still in excellent shape... very impressive...

totally agree with you.. the zum case is still like new... but i need a new smart cover😀

Definitely one of the best case for smart cover users... I have purchased 5 zum cases in the last month... 😛

I am glad i am using the zum case. My cousin just dropped and cracked his iPad screen yesterday because of the smart cover accidentally detached...

Apple quoted almost $300 to fix... 😱

We have a repair shop here can fix it for $140... 😛

I totally agree that a smart cover must have the back cover with it. I have tried several of the back cases and like the Incase back case the best because of the magnet that holds my smart cover on the back without it flopping around. Speck makes one as well but I felt like the magnet was not as strong. Other than that, they are all about the same. Has anyone else tried this case?

Not sure if you know the difference between zum case and others. Zum has a smart cover lock to interlock the smart cover and the zum case, so the smart cover will not accidentally detach from the ipad2 and cause damages.

Excuse me but I can put the smart cover and roll it like a book front cover to the back if that makes sense?.
