I should have said rough prototype parts. They have the equipment in their super secret lab to create rough prototype cases to determine sizing, etc. If you see a case with professional looking stamped text, etc it's probably a production part.

A prototype phone in a special case, yes that might get leaked by Apple. Once you get to that stage, cosmetic changes are more unlikely (although not impossible).

If the headphone jack is on the bottom Sena will need to rethink much of their case range. A pity, I like the ultraslim. :)

I think the ultraslim will be fine, you'll just have put the phone in the case "upside down". If anything it'll be cheaper to produce since they won't have to cut holes in the bottom for headphone/mic.

I was really hoping for a design with more smoothed out, rounded edges. I like the idea of a larger display, but the thing I really hate most about the iPhone 4/4s is the sharp edges and the boxy design, I really liked the 2nd generation iPhone much better for its ergonomic comfortable design, which was a delight to hold and use. Holding the iPhone 4 is not comfortable at all, the only reason I really even like the iPhone now is because of the iOS, not the design. I hate the design of the iPhone 4/4s -- please Apple, sharp edges are not good!!

Apple wouldn't let out a two tone back into production.. just not their style and it would have steve rolling in his grave. It has to be simple and elegant, this is not that.

Yeah, Apple would never release an iPhone with a two-tone back. Never.

The 3.5" display lives on? After owning a 4.3" display I'd rather not go back to something that small.

It has the same 1.95 ratio, it's measured from that picture so if it's wider it's also taller.
Not only that, if it's the same dimension then the display can still be bigger because as others have pointed out the bezels seem to be smaller.

Could the metal back be the antenna? What would be the advantage/disadvantage to doing something like that?

Looks like this thing is coming out at the end of June...

Guess fall will be the 7" iPad release then.

I am not sure a 7" iPad makes sense. I mean the iPhone 4 is still being sold with the A4 in it, and both the iPad 2 and iPad 3 have the A5 in it. Seeing that the iPhone 5 will probably have the A5 in it too (meaning the A5 will be around for awhile). Would it not make more sense for Apple to sell the iPad 4 (A6) at $500, iPad 3 at $400, and continue selling the iPad 2 at $300 next year in March? Of course maybe the iPad 2 with a 7" screen is the only way Apple can get the price down to a $250-$300 range.

I like it, but I don't really understand the back.

The Aluminum serves no purpose. It doesn't make the phone any less fragile, because the corners are still glass. So why not just keep the whole glass back?

Someone suggested it could be a touch sensitive back like the Vita, but that seems gimmicky and not something apple would do.

Glass and plastics are insulators, which keeps heat locked in. Aluminium is a conductor, which allows heat to escape. It also allows you to build a thinner phone than glass does. Other manufacturers have moved in this direction as well. Even if the corners are still glass (they could be plastic), durability of the rest of the back is improved.

Apple cannot ignore this... there will most likely be an announcement at WWDC now. I mean if Mountain Lion is in beta, Map app leaked, and iPhone 5 is leaked what could they have in store for WWDC? Going to have to be a pretty big showing of iOS 6. lol
