Uhhh NO!!

Still slow (on wifi too).

FB FAIL.

No it is not slow at all. It is quite fast actually. The new app is, so far, MUCH better and faster than the old. If yours is slow, it must be your phone or connection. :)

Awesome!! It's MUCH faster! That said, I wish we could:

1. Share Status'
2. Remove things from timeline in activity monitor
3. Edit Comments

yeah thats why we just scored more medals than any other country in the Olympics and landed a rover on Mars. Yup we are fat and stupid

Our Olympic contingent is a minute portion of our overall population. I don't really feel like googling for references, but it shouldn't come as much surprise that American's are getting fatter every year.

Actually, I did think it is more/most stupid - "That's the most stupid thing I've ever heard" and "He's even more stupid than I thought" sound perfectly fine to me, but I accept that the OED says otherwise.

Is it just me, or is the only purpose of English grammar class to prevent the language from evolving? Whatever sounds best should be valid grammar. I'm probably the best in my class (including the teacher) with English grammar, and I think it's useless.

Yeah? these so called " fatter and stupider " Americans invented the device you so dearly love so much holding in your hand. You pretentious jerk off.

A minute sliver of Americans invented these devices. The "fat and stupid" majority didn't do anything except drive themselves to an Apple store and hand over cash.

On another note, FB clearly put more than their usual lackluster effort into this rewrite. Probably because they now know that if they fail at mobile, they're done.

You have to know the rules first before you can change them (or break them deliberately). Otherwise you're just doing it out of ignorance, not for a reason.

I think a better indication of American success is that our economy is in much better shape than the Eurozone, and we have high living standards (unlike rich and harsh China). I've been to France a few times, and the people are usually much nicer to strangers and more considerate than Americans are, but there are always a few jealous people who hate America. English is illegal to use in advertisements in France.

Anyway, I'm surprised I haven't seen any comments on Facebook's plans to make a mobile OS. Yes, a Facebook mobile OS. I'd sooner buy a Droid Bionic running Gingerbread.

But the reason would be that it sounds better. I see the importance of using commas correctly and some other rules because it looks terrible if you don't do it right. And even if we evolve the language, everyone has to agree on a few standards. But English grammar teachers are too strict about many rules that don't make sense and don't sound good.

I should have said that English grammar class is "overrated in importance", not useless.

Not going to use it.

Being a former military guy, I heard the government will haul us away and have us mentally tested for private posts we make.

Stay in school. You haven't learned tact.

Miles better.

I find it a lot quicker when adding photos, video from the iPhone than what it used to be.

Tagging

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see a way to tag someone in a photo. It gives you the option to tag someone when you upload a new photo, but I don't see an option for an existing photo. Any clues?

The language will still evolve with grammar class. There still needs to be some sort of control over the language but even with it, there is still regional dialects that are accepted, but to outsiders, they don't sound right.

I'm from out West and I live in the Midwest now. The positive use of the word "anymore" drives me crazy. "I will do it anymore" for example.

I talked to an honors English teacher about the word anymore and she didn't know what I was talking about or what the problem was. After a bit of digging I found it was just an example of regional dialect. Still doesn't sound right. :p

China, for sure. Eurozone...perhaps. A large part of the problem they're facing is the fact that they have a currency union without a political union. It depends on what country one is in. The question to me is, yes, the US economy is "in much better shape," but for whom? It's mostly a very small minority experiencing the fruits of the US's tepid recovery; most Americans are poor.

The USA truly has great advantages, but life is much less harsh and stressful in, say, Norway or Sweden.

As for a Facebook mobile OS...

Strange but it seems a lot slower on my iPhone. A picture of text took quite a while to render so readable.

They removed that feature several updates ago. It's been on their help pages for some time saying you can only tag when you upload the photo, and not afterwards.

Still far from perfect. Not loading my friends profiles consistently. It is, however, a HUGE step in the right direction. Scrolling is way faster and picture viewing is greatly improved (as well as rendering speed). Bring on the new iPhone and I'm sure this app will scream.
