Didn't the guy that created the original app quit doing apps and made it public that he hated the Apple Q/A process? And all along, he was just doing HTML code in an iOS app container.

Yes. Had he spent 1/100th of the time working on the Facebook app that he spent bitching about the Apple app approval process, it would be the best app out there. He was moved elsewhere some years ago and for a time they had no one working on the app.

Technically, it wasn't Americans who made the stuff you use to make one of these devices, so...

Tracing it WAY back, the computational core that is used at the heart of the iPhone (and most other handheld devices) is the ARM microprocessor. It was designed by a team in the UK.

While they were refining the architecture core back in the late 80s, they relied on ramp-up capital provided by a company that was looking for a potential processor to use in their forthcoming new personal data assistant. The PDA ended up being called the Newton, and the ramp-up capital was provided by Apple.

Because so many people use it in spoken language. It's poor English/American.

OED disagrees. "Stupider" is correct. stupid, stupider, stupidest.

If it wasn't, it'd be stupid, more stupid, most stupid. Do you really think the sentence, "That's the most stupid thing I've ever heard" is correct?

I guess everyone who wrote "I am not buying new iPhone because Facebook app is slow" can rest easy now.

I expect the reason there's no landscape version is because it would look dire on the crappy "stretched" new iPhone (if that becomes reality).

Havent bothered to update my FB app in over 6 months. It was working pretty smoothly. No cover photo crap loading, just the basics. Oh well, finally gave in.

Thank you. Everyone that sarcastically replied to the guy commenting on his use of the word stupider, insert foot in mouth.

Imagine That!

Wow, look what happens when you write an app the way you're supposed to instead of taking a shortcut and using HTML5. Objective-C is such a more efficient language both from the developer's perspective and from performance perspective.

It can only be an improvement.

The last one was just so buggy and slow. Totally useless. I never used it on my phone or iPad, instead choosing the browser interface instead.

Here is hoping they really fixed it.

Negative. Developer got paid for multiple development cycles. Job security.

Not sure why I never fully read that letter from Steve, but I'm glad you posted and reminded me of it. Of course it's old and we know just how quickly Flash has been abandoned since Apple's decision not to support it on iDevices, but I still enjoyed reading it. Thanks... and glad to see an updated Facebook app. I've been eagerly waiting ever since I heard a team of ex-Appleites were working on it.

Actually, I did think it is more/most stupid - "That's the most stupid thing I've ever heard" and "He's even more stupid than I thought" sound perfectly fine to me, but I accept that the OED says otherwise.

Does it still keep trying to force you to view the news feed via "top stories"? I constantly have to switch back to most recent. PAIN.

You're not quite as smart as you seem to think you are.

Erm??? He made a comment, one that was true but I had forgotten about, and it made me laugh. Wow, laughing and comedy makes you dumb and stupid eh? What was that about Americans being thick again? (I'm British BTW). If I made a comment like yours I would have deleted it after reading it again.

The integration is the same as twitter in iOS 5. You have to log in to Facebook to enable it. Otherwise you won't even see it.

It remains to be seen how easy it is to ignore the integration that you don't enable out of choice. It's just because I don't trust Facebook.
