Actually, I did think it is more/most stupid - "That's the most stupid thing I've ever heard" and "He's even more stupid than I thought" sound perfectly fine to me, but I accept that the OED says otherwise.

Yeah both kind of sound weird. But it's the same as simple (simpler, simplest vs more simple, most simple).

Am I the only one who doesn't understand why they couldn't get it to work well using HTML5 for the layout? I've done some work building web apps that masquerade as native apps and my guess is they just had a rat's nest of code going on.

As long as I start from scratch without using some template or library I've been able to use CSS3, JS, and HTML5 to do things way more visually impressive (than the old FB app) without the iPhone or iPad dropping a frame. To be fair, they have to deal with thousands of times more db queries, etc., but this isn't directly tied to scrolling responsiveness, crashes, and lock-ups.

[EDIT] Not my own work, but here's an example of a modern web app that's more responsive than the old FB app: http://pattern.dk/sun/ [/EDIT]

Requires iOS 4,3 or above. So those with an iphone 3G still have to joy of ignoring facebook on a daily, mobile basis.

... and this is a good thing - facebook started out ok, but is clearly becoming a scam, one inch away from shamelessly selling users privacy. Case in point: http://www.webpronews.com/facebooks-sponsored-stories-settlement-denied-2012-08

Mark my words: facebook, more sooner than later, will end up in tears for everyone... except, of course, for Mr. Zuckerjerk and a few early stock dumpers. Better opt out of it before they really screw it up.

Did they make it remember the Sort Order I prefer, not the one Facebook prefers?

I'm not with my phone right now. Does it allow you to edit comments like on the web?

nope. not that I can tell anyways. they'll get around to it after they're finished rolling around on their razr scooters, and being creative geniuses. #babysteps

Now everyone will browse Facebook on their iToys all day.

No wonder Americans are getting fatter and stupider.

Rude and not true.

We will also do this.

Because so many people use it in spoken language. It's poor English/American.

There's nothing poor about it. It is a perfectly acceptable word and has been used by authors such as Jane Austen, Mark Twain, Henry James etc.

yeah thats why we just scored more medals than any other country in the Olympics and landed a rover on Mars. Yup we are fat and stupid

looks like devices that are stuck on ios 4.2.1 and below are losing their usefulness...first google chrome and now facebook....my ipod touch 2g is slowly becoming obsolete noooooooo.....

Welcome to my World. First generation iPod touch, stuck on iOS 3.1.3 forever.

P.S.: any comment about upgrading better be accompanied by a check to pay for a new iPod touch.

We shouldn't skirt the importance of advertising money in this release. Facebook has been having trouble generating substantial advertising revenue on the mobile platform, making a redesign more urgent. I'm curious as to how they've changed their application in order to help garner more income for the company and stockholders. :apple:

I guess this is it? Seems like some sort of sponsored links? Never saw them in the old app.

Does it still keep trying to force you to view the news feed via "top stories"? I constantly have to switch back to most recent. PAIN.

Seems to retain your choice :)

I changed it from Top Stories to Most Recent. Killed the app (double-click Home button), restarted, and clicked Sort - still on Most Recent.

It remains to be seen how easy it is to ignore the integration that you don't enable out of choice. It's just because I don't trust Facebook.

Not it doesn't. You can see it now. If you have iOS 5, then you can see the twitter integration. Facebook integration in iOS 6 is EXACTLY the same. You opt in to have it.

So how do you get that banner to tap to see more stories instead of having to refresh?

It pops up when you have a new story. You don't do anything to get it.

I hate how the iPad app is merely a stretched out iPhone app. The Google+ app for iPad is much, much better.
