MacRumors post about the new FB app for iPhone.......and about how fat and stupid Americans are....and how FB is trying to make money off us....and the validity of the word stupider.......and.....

Is it just me, or is the only purpose of English grammar class to prevent the language from evolving? Whatever sounds best should be valid grammar. I'm probably the best in my class (including the teacher) with English grammar, and I think it's useless.

What I find amusing is the fact that we've started a sub-thread about the finer points of English grammar in a thread about FB, which probably contains more examples of abysmal grammar - and spelling - in one place than anywhere else

...and...does Safari seem snappier?

That and how come I can't @ tag people in comments. I don't understand that one.

+1 - or sharing, or editing posts....

Thinking about it objectively though, perhaps they are going about it the right way; first, clone the old app, then (hopefully) add more functionality and features rather than cloning the old app and adding a whole slew of new features in one release. A sure recipe for a bug-fest.

Brits invented the first computers; everything else follows from that!

Indians and Chinese are the oldest civilizations in the world so they invented the Brits. What's your point?

Why is everyone so hell bent on starting a pissing contest?

Why the huh?

Nothing. I was trying to be funny. I commented about saving pictures and you asked if I read other posts (and I hadn't) but to save face I deleted the comment I made about pictures trying to make it look as if I never said anything which would have, if I actually hadn't posted anything about pictures, warranted a "huh" to your "Did you not read subsequent posts?" comment.

I can't wait to download this after work tonight. The old FB app was just miserable to use.

This is for both the iPhone and iPad versions, right?

Yeah count me as another "it's okay I guess."
Definitely an improvement but it certainly doesn't feel like they rewrote the app from the ground up. Significantly slower than it should be and missing quite a few key features.

But then again, Facebook doesn't even seem to care whether or not the desktop version of their site works right... so I don't plan on ever seeing a reliable Facebook iPhone app.

Is still slow for me. I don't get it.

It's much faster for me on Wi-Fi and 3G, but what I'm looking forward to testing is how much better it is - if at all - on the crappy 2G (more like 1.25G) signal at work.

The old app seemed to keep timing out; I'd add a post, or share something from a web-site, and it would just sit there with the spinner running ad infinitum and my post would never appear.

I know it can't make the connection any faster, but hopefully it'll be more reliable so in situations like the above, posts will actually appear.

I can confirm that it is even faster on EDGE here!

What took them so long? Lazy worthless CEO? Oh yes thats right, Zuck.

Schedule your posts?

Yup. On the website you can backdate posts or schedule future posts:

Oh and I forgot targeting. Can't target your posts by demographic in the FB app when you're posting as a page.

GTFO!

I've never seen that before (and I like posting after the fact and hate that it gets date stamped as "now").

I see it's available if you post a status update via the timeline vs. the regular newsfeed. Also just noticed the sliding + to add an event visually at the certain point in the timeline.

+1
