Moshi Monde seems to have updated their hardshell case on their site. Detailed images show they've added a hole to accommodate for that extra microphone. I'm not sure if the Apple Store has the new ones since they do sell this product, so if you were to purchase it I'd probably just go through Moshi's site.

Yes. I got the latest Moshi for my MBA and I love it. Has a hole for the second mic too.

----------

I picked up this HEX canvas sleeve. Its actually for the MPB 13" but works. I needed something that fits my MBA with the Moshi case and also the tiny Logitech USB bluetooth mouse dongle that's attached to my MBA. I didn't want to remove the dongle all the time.

With the actual MBA 13" case, it whole thing wasn't even sliding into the sleeve. But the MBP 13" case wored great as it had an adds 1/2 inth to the left and right.

The sleeve also has a nice padding. Sells for $35 at amazon. I got it for $8 from a local Ross store.

Haha, I picked up a 13" MBP Hex case for my MBA at my local TJ Maxx for $10! Good deals!

great thread. so what kind of keyboard cover are you guys using? (for those of you that use them of course)

I finally pulled the trigger after some weeks of procrastination purchased the Booq viper. Just received the case today seems quite good, has a bit of a new smell to it which is a bit unpleasant I think it will wear off with time. Should easily slip into my bag.

can you post a pic of the new case for the 2013 version? i'm debating right now whether to get the speck or the moshi case. I'm also wondering when they'll be shipping these to apple retail stores?

I don't actually have the case on since I have a BSE Matte skin on, but I can confirm the cut-out on the case is large enough to accommodate the extra mic hole. I thought about installing the case over my skin, but don't want to risk the skin install since it turned out really nice. I won the case from a Speck Twitter contest, but ended up ordering the BSE skin while waiting for them to update their case. In hindsight I should have picked a different Speck case because the BSE skin is awesome.

I will post a small review next week!

Made some pictures of the Joli originals sleeve (http://jolioriginals.com) I got in last week. I'm super happy with it and got quite some compliments on it already. The leather is soft and the sleeve fits great, I can shake it upside down without the MBA sliding out. The sleeve came in a nice packaging with a couple of personal touches, makes the unboxing really nice! :)

I am in the market for a small bag, mostly for my iPad but fitting an Air would be pretty handy for the future as well. No backpack, I'd like some kind of satchel/messenger bag style. The leather options are particularly attractive to me.

I read through this whole topic, and there are a ton of awesome suggestions. So thanks to you all for posting! I am tempted by the Muzetto that seems to be a favorite.

But I have to ask-- am I the only person who is confused about how open these bags are?

The flap just flaps over the top of the open bag and you're done. What happens if the bag tips over? or it's raining? or you have to lay your bag down under the seat of the air plane? Or you toss it in the backseat of your car?

Don't your items within the bag just... fall out and roll away? Obviously your laptop isn't going to roll off, but I'm thinking writing utensils and smaller items, even a phone.

For example, I see this picture of the Muzetto:

And I think to myself, there is a lot of extra space at the top for something to get free if the bag were tipped on the side (or even upside down by mistake).

It seems impossible to find a nice leather bag such as these, that has zippered compartments to avoid these accidental spillings. I may have to get this bag, though the non-leather makes me sad. haha:

Mamba Courier 11
The Muzetto has an interior zippered pocket.
I got the 13" leather Muzetto for my 2013 13" MBA, but it was too big looking, so I returned it for the 11" leather Muzetto and the 13" MBA fits inside perfectly in their Suede Jacket sleeve.

So i bought a protective zip sleeve for my Air, but I want to change my zip bag to a messanger bag, or at least a bag that has a dedicated pocket with zip for the Air that I can put in for extra protection.
I want it to be able to store a couple of books too and accessories like my charger, a wireless mouse and my external for movies and games i want to use.
I've looked all over and across this thread, but so far nothing appeals to me.
I'd like it to be resilient against rain or even sudden drops just in case, with England, rain is a very common occurance, and I walk to University, so it would definitely help.
Thanks!

Hi there,

New to Apple, MacRumors, and have an MBA 13'' on it's way :)
Will be in the UK next week - any advice on the best sleeve that can be purchased, for, say, around £20-£30? One that will do the job ie not scratching, but keep it firmly in place too.
Also - is a clear shell cover necessary? Same question goes for the keyboard protector.. I'm basically going to be taking it back and forth to uni for studies...

Thanks :)

Might I recommend the ACME MADE Skinny Sleeve for your new MBA? I just got one for myself; it is very sleek, and adds very little bulk/weight to your computer. It's made of neoprene, and because there is no zipper, it is highly unlikely that you will scratch your computer. It feels very premium, and worth the $40.

Thanks for the recommendation...I just ordered one from amazon. I can't wrap my head around the $110 leather ones from Joli...should that I win the PowerBall then this will be another story. :)

I've had my Joli sleeve for my Air since they first started making them. Still looks good and functions perfectly. They're high quality for sure.

Nice to see a small leathergoods business in the Netherlands doing so well and putting out a quality, handmade product. Sure beats China crap.

It's a bargain at the price as far as I'm concerned.

Your macbook air is "china crap"...yea, still the nicest laptop around.

Anyways, I'm wondering if there's a difference between speck and moshi case guys?
I personally would prefer no case to leave the macbook nice and sleek, but protecting by $1,500 Air is also critical.
How essential is a case? And how essential is a keyboard guard?

Would really appreciate someone with a long running experience with macs helping me out with this one. Especially with Airs...

I'm going to buy a case regardless, as it will give me comfort while sitting in my hand-carry while traveling. Why I'm asking, is whether I need to leave it on while at home...or at work.

Thank you very much.

PS: if anyone watched Dexter yesterday, there was a lovely black case on a macbook during one of the scenes at Deb's workplace. Any idea what it is? Longshot, but had to ask. Looks really sexy. Will get screenshot when I get home.

Colcasac for MBA 11'' (Summer 2013)

I went with the Colcasac 11'' MBA sleeve. I've been using it for a week and have found no gripes with it yet, well other than it being extremely "snug" on my computer. The inside is made with this wool and the outside seems tough enough.

Just bought a 13'' MBA.

Decided to stick with Waterfield for my cases (I have their Nintendo 3DS XL case) because I love their quality.

Picked up this exact setup. Haven't received it yet but will soon. Black/Green Muzetto Bag (sorry for Gadgetmac watermark. Just image searched my color choice.)

I also picked up their sleevecase for my MBA just to keep a bit of padding around it while it's inside the bag.

Just bought the upgraded SeeThru Satin for the 2013 MacBook Air "13 inch at a closeby apple store in my area, and here is a picture to prove that the case doesn't block the 2nd Mic.

Alveezy thanks for posting that - I think I'll go and pick one up. The one they shipped with my MBA was the old one.

before you purchase it at an apple store. make sure to have them take it out and place(not put on) the bottom part of the case above the keyboard and try to align the open area to where the mic's are. i had to do this because i didn't wanna end up going back to exchange. they still have some of the old cases in-stock so it'll be hard to tell which one is the new one without doing the test that i've done.

How easy is it to remove? I have the Colcasac and I dont think there is room enough for a MBA 11'' with a case. It's an extremely tight fit. If it's easy to apply and remove repetitively I might just end up purchasing one.

Saddleback leather

Because I travel frequently for business I use a backpack to hold my work laptop, personal MBA & Ipad. The outside pockets also hold my Garmin GPS & cords for phone & GPS. I use the leather sleeve on my MBA in the same chestnut color as the backpack. Both the simple backpack & the sleeve are incredibly rugged and guaranteed for 100 years. Saddleback service is top notch and the products are worth the extra money just based on durability & longevity.

Bought my GF a saddleback tote & iPad cover and they are both excellent quality too. She is really tough on iPad cases and this is the only one that has held up to all the abuse.

Anybody have a favorite color hard shell case for the 2013 Air's? The Speck one has some pretty bad reviews, but I'd still consider it. Any recommendations?

How do you like the case? I'm thinking about picking one up.
