hi everybody! So I just ordered my first MBA going into my last semester of school. I am going to be on campus everyday and going to be moving around a lot. (classes > library> classes)
So far the only thing I'm settled on is the Moshi keyboard cover. As we had to send in my mom's MBP for liquid damage after soda was spilled all over the keyboard, seems like a valuable investment.

What I'm not settled on is the case/sleeve. If I am going to go with a sleeve, it's either going to be this caselogic or this thule gauntlet.

I really like the Moshi Iglaze for the MBA, but what protection does this really offer? All the ports are open, so if i get drenched while walking in the rain, the only protection from water damage will be thanks to my bookpack. (has a slot for a laptop.) I'm a fairly careful person, so i guess the only concern from scratches will be from the desk?
Or the incipio feather.

I got a Haswell MBA last week and just bought both a Thule Gauntlet case and a translucent Moshi iGlaze.

Some folks might think it's a bit overkill, but I've owned MacBook Pros since the unibody versions came out and have had some experience with accidents.

I use a Thule case with my 15" MacBook Pro because even though my bag has a padded area, it's not sufficient protection for when my bag is accidentally dropped.

The iGlaze is more for when I handle the Air day to day to prevent scratches and minor dings. I actually just installed it last night and it's amazingly thin. It's really difficult to tell that there's a shell on the machine.

I figure between the two, that should be very good protection for my new MBA.

One thing I did encounter -- when your MBA is encased in an iGlaze, slipping it into the Thule Gauntlet is a bit snug. I'm not sure if it's because the Gauntlet is so new and will loosen with time, or if Thule's specs are that precise.

I'd highly recommend both.

Pad & Quill Cartella

I got this recommendation from this discussion (someone posted in the front few pages).

Not the best images, but you can see what it looks like in an office, put to good use. My new MBA 13 in a Pad & Quill Cartella folio case.

I needed something to throw in my bag and carry with me everywhere. Closed up it looks like a Moleskine notebook. It fits really nicely in the wood lined compartment. I sat with it on my lap for four hours last night working and it was like having a mini-lapdesk. When it opens, it angles up for a nice typing surface.

My bag is padded, so this just adds to the protection. It kicks ass for just walking around with.

After thinking about it I decided to do the same. Getting the Moshi keyboard cover as well.

Which is the best option for rMBP 13" Tucano Second Skin Microfiber or Be.ez LA robe MBP Retina ? :)

How easy is it to remove? I have the Colcasac and I dont think there is room enough for a MBA 11'' with a case. It's an extremely tight fit. If it's easy to apply and remove repetitively I might just end up purchasing one.

I think it should fit it because it only gives it about a half-inch more on the thickness along with the case. I wouldn't recommend taking it off all the time but you're suppose to clean it once a month to prevent any debris from scratching your MacBook Air while the case is on.

Anybody have a favorite color hard shell case for the 2013 Air's? The Speck one has some pretty bad reviews, but I'd still consider it. Any recommendations?

How do you like the case? I'm thinking about picking one up.

I would recommend getting the SeeThru Satin version of the case instead of the regular candy or SeeThru because from what i hear. Those versions crack and scratch easily. To me they don't even feel durable. I really went out of my way to look for the satin ones...from what i learned on searching for the case. They only carry 2 colors at Apple Stores. If you wanted other colors then you'd have to order them direct from the brand online.

before you purchase it at an apple store. make sure to have them take it out and place(not put on) the bottom part of the case above the keyboard and try to align the open area to where the mic's are.

Thanks - definitely will do.

How easy is it to remove?

Even though I've had mine for a month, I've never removed it so I can't really answer that.

As above, only had this case for my MBA so can't really compare. It's my first laptop ever too so my experience is nearly useless. I take pretty good care of it and don't even allow it to be in the same zone as liquids.

That said, I've had one ding with it against the edge of a door at work, and the case absorbed all the impact.

Also, the edges occasionally need to be clipped back into place, but that could be because my case is for the 2012 MBA.

I bought it mainly for the aesthetics - looks awesome with the dulled glow of the Apple logo. Feels fantastic too. The worst part is these cases were featured on the latest Dexter episode so they'll probably take off now.

It adds some heft, though it is lighter than it looks. Just holding them together, the computer feels a titch heavier.

the lightness of the air is somewhat uncomfortable for me and it bugs me cause it keeps sliding on this lapdesk that i use it on. plus when you open it without a case. it drags the bottom part with it! that bothers alot. i however like the thin-look but not the feel. so the case does add some normality on it.

Does anyone know anything about this case?

I need a case under $100, preferably a sleeve of some sort.

I am ordering the case with the Macbook Air and want to put both orders in at the same time tomorrow.

Any recommendations other than this Michael Kors sleeve would be great!!

Also if anyone has seen this sleeve in person or can comment id greatly appreciate it

One more question... can someone share their opinion or experience of the BookBook Case for the Air from TwelveSouth have only read horror stories of the zippers breaking and things like that...

Was just directed to this thread from the one which was closed earlier today only to find I have to wade through 38 pages of sleeves which date back to 2011 and may or may not be available anymore ;)

Call me odd but I don't mind when fresh threads are started even though they may have been started previously avoids the above mentioned situation.

Bags Sleeves and Cases

All those fancy cases look like they have something really valuable inside. I use an old, used padded envelope. It protects the lapbook, and no thief would think it contained anything worthwhile. Of course if you want a really flashy case, to show off your good taste, well, please keep a very good eye on it all the time. Because thieves will be watching you!

I was going for a Joli sleeve, but right before check-out my girlfriend convinced me to buy this from Pack and Smooch as some pockets may he useful. Should be here any day now.

Need advice on sleeve / case for macbook air

Hey guys, I'm looking for a sleeve for my new macbook air. I've been all over google looking for the right one, but I can't seem to find the perfect one.

Here's the deal: I really just want a thing sleeve that will fit easily in a small backpack, but I also want to be able to use it as a pad to put the macbook on in bed while maintaining healthy cooling.

Price doesnt matter, I appreciate quality. At first I was thinking maybe hard leather, or a hard case or something.

I really like leather, but only real leather. Especially crocodile leather. I also found this: http://r.ebay.com/6S8htA which looks pretty much perfect (i have the 13 inch though, they also sell it for that but i dislike ebay).

So if anyone knows of something similar to that, or simply a sleeve hard enough to not interfere with the macbook airs cooling in anyway, please help me out.

Careful now. Apparently asking questions about cases and sleeves is a big "no-no" around here. You may only go to the "cases/sleeve thread from 2010" and read. I repeat no questions. Just read old this 3 year old thread about cases that may Or may not still be available.

If you attempt to start a new thread or ask about specific cases, this thread nazi (aka the prick posting above this post) will jump all over you and tell you to read the "cases/sleeve thread from 2010" and tell the mods to lock your new thread.

You have been warned.

How come nobody gets yelled at or threads locked when the 5,279th thread is made about 'SHOULD I RETURN MY AIR' or 'SHOULD I GET 8GB OF RAM'
