Is it just me, or does the banner look to be upside down? Why would light be coming up from the bottom? :)

I believe the view is actually from underwater, just below the surface. So those would be light rays filtering through the water from above the surface. That's how it looks to me, anyway...

Bug Fixes

I'd say bug fixes should be the order of the day. Folks are still getting used to the new theme. And the phone doesn't need to get any more complicated for most users.

Eventually a split is necessary. Power users and tech folks will want more from their phones. The masses want the phone to be as easy to use as possible.

Do we think iOS 8 will be a public beta like how OSX is now? Can't help thinking it would help Apple find problems far faster.

No need.

There are enough people that have developer licenses just to get to the early betas. Plus the developers have a vested interest in testing the new OS with existing apps.

Judging by the banner, it seems like they might be toning down some of the colors in iOS. At least to me it reminds me of a combination of the iOS 6 and iOS 7 banners.

So what this is saying to us it.

iOS7 almost drowned Apple is was so bad, sunk to the bottom on the sea floor.

iOS8 is coming to rescue it, and look, it's bringing it back up to the surface :D

Possibly

Since its underwater - hence beneath the surface - I think it hints the majority of changes in ios8 will be the back-end vs all the front-end changes made for ios7.

So what do you guys think 10.10 will be called? I've heard Yosemite and Redwood thrown around a bunch not long ago.

Hmm. Water theme iOS 8. WWDC app has orange color theme. Apple could bridge the two platforms together better this year.

Water.
Orange.
Bridge.
California.

...

OS X Golden Gate?

As some have said, I see the banner as a theme of "convergence"

iOS8 on Mavericks, maybe eluding to a single app store?

There's a good chance, that iOS 8 won't be available on the iPhone 4 :(

Normally I'm all for supporting old hardware (check my signature...) but honestly, iPhone 4? Unless you simply can't afford it (in which case I'm wondering how you afford a phone plan), it's time to upgrade... having used my mother's iPhone 4 running iOS 7 (compared to my iPhone 5 running 6.1.2), the thing is unbearably slow and unresponsive. Actually, it's just slow and unresponsive period.

I was happy with my flip phone from 2006-2012, but honestly anything before the iPhone 4S is just too slow to be bothered with =/
