Apple will need to get demo models out to the carriers immediately I'd think. How to know if the bigger model is too big without playing around with it...

Play around with a Galaxy Note 3. It's around the same size. WAY to big. I personally want the 4.7 that's around the size of a Galaxy S3. That for me personally is perfect. But to each there own.

Anyone think we'll be able to demo the phones in store prior to the release date? I'd prefer to try both sized phones before committing.

This! I am right now leaning toward the 4.7 - but I would like to try the 5.5 (just to see if it would fit in my pockets without annoying me). The options I see right now is either make a cardboard model based on the leaks or to go on launch day to one of the less busy AT&T stores (which than would most likely mean that I could only get the black one). But I would love if I could go next week to the store to get some hands on to make a solid decision.

My Note 3 felt massive for the first day or so. After that, I couldn't imagine going back to something smaller.

OMG. Why is it STILL not September 9 10am PST yet... I have to wait HOW MANY hours??

I'm going with 5.5 all the way. I want two devices in my life - a 5.5-inch iPhone and a MacBook Pro. That's it. Don't want to have a need for a middle-ground between those two.

Damn, right until these news I had a reason not to get a 5.5" iphone.... now I really have to decide...

The introduction of a 5.5” will definitely cause me not to buy an iPad Mini. I had considered replacing our 4th Gen with a Mini 2, but I think my occasional need for a lightweight reading device will be handled nicely by the 5.5” model (and the replacement iPad will be an Air 2).

Only 24 hours guys :D

Exactly.

Now that i can make calls straight from my macbook pro.. These iPhones seem too smal for me... Heck Even the rumored 6.5" iPhone 7 is too small..

Bingo. I got rid of my iPad because I didn't see a need when I got my Note 3. It's my macbook and my Note3, which will now be replaced by the 5.5 iPhone.

Do they typically announce specs at keynotes? I'm really curious if the 4.7 and 5.5 will have 1GB or 2GB RAM...

Same here. Nothing against Android at all, just want to try something new this year

I am actually leaning the other way. I have always been iphone, (well since the first version) but ever since the loss of Steve Jobs I feel like Apple is playing catch-up. Doesn't seem to be anything new coming for the iphone. The iphone was the leader and no one could even compare, but now things have changed and I might test the waters so to speak. I still love my 2 ipads, my macbook pro and my macpro, so I am not an "apple hater" by any means. I am just disappointed with lack of fresh ideas coming from the new leadership. Give me something to be excited about besides a bigger screen that is still lower resolution than what is already out there.

You could wait until Lunch time tomorrow PDT to find out the exact dimensions.

Good freaking news if true. I really want the 5.5 model (if the rumored resolution differences are true). I can deal with a large phone, but I'm spoiled by recent Android phones high PPI. Would not want to go back to 326 (a small difference really, but still).

And that's your personal preference. I on the other hand have had a Note for quite a while and couldn't stand it at all. When I was able to buy an iPhone again (I now have the iPhone 5S) I was jumping for joy over finally getting rid of that Note. I just can't stand phones that big. I get blasted on here for saying that. Not sure why I can't have my own opinion.
