One has to wonder what the capacity is that UPS can handle in Louisville, too. I know it's a HUGE hub and they process hundreds of thousands of parcels each day, but when you get that many packages dropped on your doorstep in the matter of a day or so, it's got to take some serious manpower to get that all wrangled and distributed!

Remember, it's not UPS that can't handle the load, it's the federal customs folks. Apparently they're taking their sweet ass time. Not surprising being a federal agency, but that is apparently what's holding us up.

i'm done tracking it via ups. I know where it is, and that it will be on the next flight to pittsburgh tomorrow morning with a delivery of tomorrow. you all have fun being pissed off at wasabi and techdude because you think they promised you a delivery of today. CHIT happens out of UPS control (cough US Customs) deal with it, you will get your precious phone just like everyone else here...

I for one (original 710 2 day layover crew) am believing apple originally gave me a delivery date of 9/24 well guess what, Apple was right.

i'll check back later and see who killed who

Crazy as it seems, I love USPS. My mail lady will open my front door and put my package on the table in the living room. And yeah we leave our doors unlocked where I live.

Do we need a import scan in order to process through Louisville??? I am confused. I thought they did that in Alaska. Did i miss something somewhere?

Yes, the import scan is generated after the US Census Bureau accepts the information that has been scanned at the origin site (in this case in China) and uploaded to them digitally. Nothing can leave Louisville until it gets accepted. For some reason every year the import scans get backed up on the first week of iPhone shipments and take 10-14 hours instead of the 15 minutes that they should take.

It's actually 99.999% automated. In most cases, the only time it will be touched by human hands is when it comes off a plane, and gets on the next one.

The customs process can be slowed by world events too. If you haven't noticed, a lot of major events that could affect national security have been taking place lately. They could be exercising way more scrutiny, even for Apple shipments.

Yeah, WorldPort gets WAY more volume than a few million iPhones on the week before Christmas, trust me.

no kidding....

the only saving thing is my work and home ups dudes are AWESOME. whereas any of the number of usps nimrods that deliver to my house are a flipping bunch of IDIOTS!

USPS is terrible. i use prime and when it's usps delivering, it almost always gets lost.

So we are waiting on Customs then and not UPS. Figures. Leave it to the government to screw this all up.

Sigh... First world problems... You are so angry because a phone is delayed by a day or two even though it will still be 8-10 days earier than originally promised...

Sometimes unforeseen **** happens dude... Loosen up a bit... :)

I had this long-winded response..... but you know, DUDE (yes, I hate that word) ..... never mind.....

Still no import scan. Almost going on 12 hours. Crazy. It better make the flight to Boston tonight. I'm one of the orig 7:10 people.

I likewise have no import scan yet.

Yeah, every time someone says iPhones overwhelmed WorldPort I just roll my eyes. If UPS can handle December, they can easily handle a few million iPhones.

:apple:

Arrival at Louisville at 1:34am but no import scan yet :(

Same arrival time, just got the import scan. No update on the delivery date but I'm expecting it to happen tomorrow.

Seriously people, we should've trusted the delivery estimate from Apple instead of UPS after the item's been shipped all along.

You do know there is a difference in the Census Bureau, which counts people, and Customs and Border Patrol, which counts packages and immigrant people right?

LOL. Please turn off the 'news'. The false impression that "things are happening" more than usual is dictated by 30 second sound bites and video clips. Almost all of which is fraudulent in one way or another.

I was a 1:34 arrival also - still waiting on my import scan.
I for one would rather go with the UPS delivery time (9/25/14) since Apple still says delivery on Oct 1-6!

it will still be 8-10 days earier than originally promised...

I'm not sure why people keep citing this....that estimate never should have happened to begin with. The system was broken, those estimates were meaningless. They were "cover our ***" estimates.

Yep, you need an import scan in Louisville to clear customs.

Well then I can just count on the scheduled time of Sep 25th as planned and leave it at that. 2 more days not a big deal. . . though it would have been great to get them a day or two early but originally it was Oct 1-6th so I am still happy with what I got. Next round at next update I know what to do to get a order in on first wave. This time i was not smart. Next time will be better. But overall I am content with getting it Thursday. Customs should get to it within 24 hours and then it will ship overnight to me getting to me Thursday. Sounds like a plan to me.
