BUZZ KILL!!! lol. what if apple just wants us to think its fake?

I think the Engadget photos show a real Apple prototype. Prototype phones have to be field-tested. And all human beings are prone to doing dumb stuff like leaving phones in bars.

But as a prototype it may differ visually from the final production model.
My guess would be that the next generation of iPhone will follow design cues we see in the iPad. Including use of a unibody Aluminum chassis.

I would be surprised to see any visual seams or breaks in an Apple product. So expect a single unbroken aluminum enclosure around the side of the device. That perhaps could be complemented by an optional curved rubber bumper that could fit around the phone and offer protection.

A complete aluminum enclosure would be bad for a phone. It would need a large radio-transparent window at the back. Like the Endgadget photos suggest.

I really hope Engadget eats **** after this one. I'm becoming so sick of Gizmodo/Engadget/any other random tech blog.

engadget is the worst esp with there little Sarcastic titles or coments in the article for example

http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/16/compaq-presario-cq1-1020-all-in-one-atom-equipped-ready-for-gr/

and any ps3 article or psp they gotta make one little umd jab they also have a clear Fanboyism for Droid/Verizon to which was annoing when the first motorola droid came out

I find Gizmodo more professional even after there lil CES childish act they did a few years ago atleast there coments and Titles sound profesionall.

though i'm not surprised it's a knockoff, i do like that design. it's super non-apple though, as everyone pointed out in the other thread.

MacForums needs to update this news post because the applesfera photos are obviously fake and photoshopped. I'm not sure whether engadget is actually on to something real or not, but the photos meant to prove them wrong are definitely fake. To all those who are using applesfera photos to downplay engadget....shame on you.

My observations...

Do you think while posting?

I do. Engadget is about to join Techcrunch on my list of blogs that are nothing more than supermarket tabloids.

I suppose I could ask you the same thing.

And until Engadget posts their "big story" - which isn't up yet - I still believe it to be fake.

So just to get this straight..

Twitpics of a supposed prototype appear in February, apparently from a Chinese source

Engadget post photos of a supposed prototype yesterday, apparently from an American source, which appear to be exactly the same as the twitpic model albeit with added screws

Applesfera then post a photo from a guy who says it's a Japanese knock-off, with a photo to prove it

Engadget retract their story

Macrumors retract their story

Engadget retract their retraction

Engadget says there is a big update coming but nothing more

It then appears (arguably) that the Applesfera photo is built from one of the engadget photos

Applesfera then post two more photos

It then appears (arguably) that the new Applesfera photos are badly shopped

---

What the hell is going on

It looks like some sort of leak/fake that someone is trying to obviously thwart, but is failing.

I guess that's accurate. I think Applesfera's source is faking it. Regarding engadget/twitpic.. that's debatable.

Someone in Tokyo should just head out to Akihabara in a few hours and settle this.
