Given that this is not the first global launch of this product, I suspect the priority will be making sure that everyone gets their iPads no later than Friday, rather than worrying about some getting theirs a day early.

Well I didn't even think of that but yeah, that's another very good point.

How many iPad's do we think TNT and UPS are collectively dealing with here? Would it be a conservative or unrealistic estimate of more than 100,000? And that's before accessories, which at a guesstimate (and again, airing on the conservative side) would roughly be 1 per iPad.. with people who ordered 2-3 accessories compensating for those who ordered none. That's a LOT of stock for TNT and UPS to deal with.

I'm not really sure. I don't know a great deal about how the courier services work, so won't pretend otherwise, but something tells me if they have mountains of boxes for delivery tomorrow that they know have to meet Fridays launch day, they'll get them out tomorrow.

Intentionally or otherwise though, I think the sheer volume of iPad's and accessories will mean some will slip through. Even If I don't get mine tomorrow, I won't be at all surprised to see reports of others receiving theirs tomorrow. It's going to be an agonising day.. :D

It does work on the iPhone. Just double tap the delivery and it will cycle through the items in your order. I have mine set to item 2 as that's my iPad :)

OOh... i need to check that out... I've searched before but never found out how to do it.

Great!

Strange that you would have got a call. My order status on the Apple Store now says that the estimated delivery date is tomorrow. I have tracking details now for TNT. But TNT's website doesn't currently have any useful information on it, just that it was picked up from Apple on the 23rd.

Here's hoping they do start to arrive tomorrow. I'm so excited!

There's already been a global launch of the iPad??

Just a quick question regarding track and trace, as I've only just been bothered to check mine, is anyone at a similar stage to me?

Currently my UPS tracking only shows that Billing Information has been received. However, beneath that it says "Shipped to SHEFFIELD, UK", and below that it says "BILLED/SHIPPED ON: 05/26/10".

Is anyone else seeing similar with UPS, or has had any change since?

Seeing as I've got my hopeful hat on, that to me looks like it was billed and shipped today to Sheffield.. which would suggest to me that it will be in Sheffield and ready for delivery tomorrow.

I could be totally wrong of course but like I say, I'm feeling hopeful!

Its coming from the Eccles (manchester) depot btw. They said the ipad isn't actually in the country yet ( which ties with my latest TNT info below :

26 May 2010 01:45:52 Arnhem Hub Shipment In Transit. )

but that it will be delivered tomorrow, if I was available to sign.

You guys are insane. you know that, right?

I mean, If it was me I would absolutely be obsessing over the shipping log and be nervous if it seemed it would not arrive in time, but you do know it is completely insane. :):):)

hope you get them on time and hope you love yours as much as I do mine.

Good Luck!!!!!

Yay the tracking utton now is working on the apple site. Im sure it will be here by tomorrow! What a waste of a days holiday though, suppose I can play with it all Friday before the bank holiday booze binge!!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Delivery May 27th yeaahhhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wuhuuuuuuuuuu

Why would TNT call the original poster? Tomorrow TNT are delivering hundreds of thousands of items all over the UK. Since when do they call everybody the day before to check whether they will be home?

My iPad is coming via TNT, and nobody has called me. I wouldn't expect them to.

Please do a bit of research before posting ;) The Billing Information Received indicates UPS don't have the package yet, but Apple have told them to pick it up and that UPS have printed a label for it.

Mine says 'shipped' on 24th which is obviously wrong since UPS claim they are not in possession of iPads.

However, it was billed on the 24th.

Pick up at depot tomorrow

I checked my apple status and it says delivery on 27th, I had originally asked TNT to hold and deliver on Friday as I am in Glasgow all day tomorrow and my iPad will be in Edinburgh, whilst I live in Angus grrrrrrr:mad:

Then I thought how awful it would be if it didn't come til 6pm on Friday, knowing my luck that is just what would happen. I spoke to a very nice lady at TNT who was able to tell me that my iPad is in nuneaton and will be in Edinburgh early tomorrow morning. I have now arranged to collect at the Edinburgh depot between 8pm and 9.30pm so as not to have to hang about at home all day.

I will ring the depot first thing to double check they have my iPad and I will be collecting tomorrow.

If you are close to the depot you would be as well collecting it, they should be able to give you a time slot and if you ring TNT they will tell you which depot it will go out from. I live quite close to Aberdeen yet mines is coming from Edinburgh so bear in mind the depot it goes out from may not be the closest one to you.

I will be happy when I have mine in hand!!!:)

Well... I hope this is correct. Although I couldn't see Apple letting TNT or UPS deliver them any earlier than Friday, but fingers crossed anyway :( Mine's still in Netherlands apparently.. Even though I ordered at like.. 00:01 on the morning Preorders went live. :p Mine should be at the front of the queue in Nuneaton! Not Arnhem!!

I worded it very badly. I meant this is not like the very initial launch of the product for the first time anywhere in the world. Plus the language Apple have used on the site about delivery being no later than 28th, implying it could be earlier.

Don't think they even have my phone number......do they??

Dunno about the apple store dates mine has come back up exactly the same as before, expected delivery by the 25th by UPS :D
