'06 - '07 NHL Season

Sens over Pens 4-2 to take back home ice advantage. Sens lead series 2-1. This series has to go 7. If it doesn't, I'll be surprised.

Red Wings over Flames 3-1. Red Wings leads series 2-0. This series might be done sooner than I predicted.

Ducks leading the Wild 1-0 in the 2nd intermission. Ducks leading the series 2-0. The way things are looking, we might have a sweep here.

Canucks and Stars just got underway. This one is gonna be good.

3 Games on tomorrow's docket:

NJ v TB. Series tied 1-1. Yawn. I hate the Devils style of play. Boring 1-2-2 trap.

NSH v SJ. Series tied 1-1. Not too familiar with this one (thanks unbalanced schedule and 10pm EST start time). Some good players on both teams, should be good.

BUF v NYI. Series tied 1-1. I'll be there for that one! The coliseum will be rocking (and perhaps falling apart)! I'm hoping for yet another solid start from DP.

ATL v NYR resumes on Tuesday. NYR leads 2-0. WAKE UP ATL!!!!!

Clearly, the only reason the Isles won on Saturday was because I was at a wedding and was unable to follow the game. ;)

I've been following today's game on teh intarwebs here at work, but hopefully I'll be able to make it home for the third period. Still no score at the first intermission in this pivotal game.
 
Ugh...I was happily watching the Sabres-Isles game on VS., and at exactly 7:00 PDT, the screen froze with 7:17 left in the game. The TV listings show VS. as carrying the Sharks-Predators game from 7-10, so perhaps something went wrong in the switchover. Still think it's rude that they'd switch like that with no warning, especially when the Sharks game is also being carried on FSN Bay Area with the local announcers, so there's no need for the VS. feed.

15 minutes later and VS. is still frozen...a nice blurry shot of center ice at the Nassau Coliseum. :rolleyes:

Fortunately, Yahoo! Sports tells me that the Sabres held on for the 3-2 victory with a dominating third period. Wish I could have seen the end of it...
 
It ended with us throwing anything we can on the ice.

I have never seen such biased refs.

Yashin makes everybody around him suck (that's being nice, I'd get banned if I said what I really want to say)

Bergeron all of the sudden forgot how to handle and clear pucks.

The entire team forgot how to shoot the puck when down by a goal. See 2 shots in the entire 3rd period. (To Buffalo's 17)

Tough game, Don. I only saw the first 12 minutes of the third, so I didn't notice any pattern of biased refereeing...not that I'd say so if I did. ;)

C'mon over to my house...VS. is still frozen at 7:17 to go after an hour and twenty minutes. You can pretend the game's not over yet. :cool:

Nice win for the Lightning...can't say I wouldn't like to see the Devils go home early.

Grrrrr.

I'll chose not to relive the horror of such crappy play and ref-ing.

Versus sucks. (again being nice) We need to get back on ESPN.
 
Nice win for the Sharks...they really dominated the Preds in all facets of the game. If their power play had been working, it would have been a blowout.

As a Canucks fan I'll toast that.

Turco sticks his skate out and hits one of our players, while behind his net, we get a goaltender interference penalty.

5 minutes later a Dallas player runs through our crease, hits our goalie (again *in his crease*) and knocks his mask off. Oh, the refs have decided to "let them play" now.

When you see the statistic that in the last 2 games the Canucks have kept pulling themselves off the power play, I challenge you to watch the games and actually spot the penalties that pulled them off before the whistle goes.

It's almost like the refs have already decided who needs to go to the next round, and I say this from the perspective of a team who is actually up 2 - 1 in their series.
 
Uh oh...Don's not going to be happy about the non-goal. I'm admittedly biased, but I agree with the call. The ref was in the process of blowing the whistle, and it was also two Islanders who pushed Miller (and the puck) into the net as they tried to stuff the puck in.

And now the Sabres score another one to hopefully ice it...

I know better than that. In the stands I was like it's going to be waived off and everybody around me agreed. Real Islanders fans know better. That's how we roll. So Toronto err The Refs err The Sabres are leading the series 3-1. My season's over, guess I can get a refund for my game 6 ticket now.

Yea, you iced it alright. A gift from both Bergeron and Poti.

Keep dreaming. If you play the Sabres they will wipe the floor with you guys. They are beyond and fast and when they're up, you can kiss your chances of tying goodbye. I know this, I've seen these things first hand.

Sounds like it was an exciting finish though. The Isles put up a terrific fight the whole series...we were lucky to escape in five games.

Versus is the most worthless channel ever. EVER!!!

It was real exciting, it ended with Yashin unsuccessfully trying to put home a loose puck (gee are we surprised?) and then it was cleared out of the zone.

Best of luck to your Sabres in the 2nd round. If you play the Rangers please destroy them. :D (That goes for any team that plays them)

BUF/NYI = Correct winner and in number of games
NJD/TB = Correct winner (4-2)
ATL/NYR = Wrong. They couldn't even win a game (0-4)
PIT/OTT = Wrong. (1-4)

DET/CGY = Correct winner (4-2)
ANA/MIN = Correct winner (4-2)
VAN/DAL = Correct winner (4-3)
NSH/SJ = Correct winner (1-4)

I'm 6 for 8 good for .750 winning %

Conference Semifinals:

BUF/NYR = BUF in 6
NJD/OTT = OTT in 7

DET/SH = SJ in 7
VAN/ANA = ANA in 6
 
Sabres draw first blood with a 5-2 win over the Rangers. Game was scoreless for more than half the game before the Sabres exploded for three goals at the end of the second period.

The teams played an even third. A Brendan Shanahan power play goal with under a minute to go made it a 4-2 game, but the Sabres quickly killed any thoughts of a miracle comeback with an empty net goal by Drew Stafford as he was being hauled down from behind on a breakaway.

Nice way to start the series...
 
Whew...Sabres were thoroughly outplayed today and were down 2-1 heading into the third, but still managed to pull out the 3-2 win. Lindy Ruff was incensed about a penalty on Danny Briere with just under two minutes to go, which gave the Rangers a 6-on-4 once they went for the extra attacker. Phenomenal saves by Miller throughout the game.

My heart finally started beating again...
