Well, Don, the Isles aren't dead yet. All they need is a Toronto victory over Montreal tonight and then to knock off the Devils tomorrow. No small task, but everything else they've needed to have happen over the last couple of days has fallen into place.
I must say that I'd really like to see the Isles make the playoffs...an opening round between the Sabres and Ted Nolan's Islanders would be fitting. That, and we're sick of playing the Canadiens and Leafs.
And the Sabres clinched the Presidents' Trophy with their victory today. At worst they'll tie the Red Wings in points, but hold the tiebreaker with more wins.
