And what can we expect for the touch, We hear a lot about the iPhone but not much about touch ...

That's what I was wishing hoping this thread could do.

I think the iPod touch is going to get some bug fixes for Safari, then the changeable icons, then a preparation app or something of that sort for the SDK in February, and (I wish) some type of way to connect to other iPod touches on your Wi-Fi...That would be neat.:apple:

So, I assume the bit about Apple bricking jailbroken Touches is unsubstantiated. That being said, those of us who have jailbroken should just wait and see what happens with the 1.1.3 release and wait for a jailbreak for that? No need to rush to restore at this point?

Yeah, I think Apple can't "brick" our iPod touches because of Jailbreaking. The only reason the iPhones were bricked was because of the baseband inside of the phone. The update screwed that up, causing the phone to not turn on.

Besides, Apple would be liable if they purposefully "bricked" our iPod touches. Remember, before 1.1.1 was released, someone up high in Apple (forgot whom) warned all Jailbroken iPhone owners not to update their phones when the updates come out. And the people who did any way, well, we know what happen to them.

But in that conclusion, soon hackers found a cure for those Bricked iPhones. So all in all, I'm not worried one bit when the 1.1.3 update comes out.:apple:

The reason the 1.1.1 update messed up 1.0.2-unlocked phones had nothing to do with the baseband. anySIM1.0.2 unintentionally destroyed part of the iphone's seczone causing the update to 1.1.1 to change the IMEI to 0049 and render it useless.

Okay, so it was the hackers fault. But still, with the next update, that can't happen with the iPod touch. Its basically an open hardware for hacking. I still think that Apple would warn us ahead of time in case 1.1.3 can damage our iPods in any sort of way.:apple:

Hacking your phone is hacking your phone. It's your phone, you can do ANYTHING you want with it. If you hack it in a way that screws up an update, its YOUR fault, not Apple's. That said, there's probably NOT a way to "brick" your iPod Touch. Just "restore" the thing if you run into problems, running the firmware update should have ZERO problems as far as I can see. The whole "bricking" issue with iPhone's had mostly to do with "reactivation" woes. No "activation" no woes. Apple's not trying to screw hackers, but they're not cataring to hacks either. And they shouldn't (its YOUR responsibility to take or not take risks with hacking).

1.1.3

i hope apple releases it tonight at midnight im waiting for it
i hope they release it ill keep yall posted

i have done a check - nothing et. Although now the next scheduled check is the 14th (the day of macworld) i think we might not see anything until then.

Yeah, I think that the update will be ready hours after Steve steps down from the stage of MacWorld. He enjoys showing off the new and improved devices with these updates. I'm guessing for a January 15th release, at around 5:00PM (Eastern.):apple:

do not take this wrong, but isn't this like the third thread you started on this in the last week?

why not just add to the first one?

I put the same exact Thread Starter in the iPod touch forum, then in the iPod touch hacks forum. Just trying to spread it around, because no one has really talked about the update for the touch. Only the bad things that happen after you update it. Besides, that's no fun talking about how your device could not work anymore.;) :apple:

does this mean my iphone apps i installed will be removed if it does then i will not update to 1.1.3

Basically, that sums it all up. The Update will clear the files inside of the iPod touch that don't need to be there. So, yes, everything you did post-jailbreak will be gone. (Except for Music, Photos, Videos, etc.):apple:

My understanding is that it won't clear ANYTHING. The applications will simply not show up on your homepage. They'll still be there taking up space though.
