My understanding is that it won't clear ANYTHING. The applications will simply not show up on your homepage. They'll still be there taking up space though.

Interesting Point of View. With those "Spaces" Apps where it allows you to make blank spaces on your home screen, when you tap in the area of one of them, the Apple "A" sign for Application comes up. I think the firmwares update all of the system files and adds what was needed to be added in that firmware.:apple:

I referring to "hard drive" space, not "dimensional" space. It's not really an opinion either, unless something has changed. This has been confirmed during iPhone updates and was the basis of the symbolic link hack for restoring Jailbreak (the whole reason downgrading before upgrading even has any significance). Just so you know.

I just want them to give me the ability to save PDFs. I have grown quite fond of using my touch as an ebook, but its a bit pesky having to make sure I remember to open the book while at a hotspot.

Also: Is there any way they could enable flash on the touch? I am unsure if it is simply software they didnt want to support, or if it is more a problem with the touch's processing power. If anyone has and ideas or information, I would be glad to hear it. Thanks.

It's not upto Apple to make 'Flash' happen on mobile Safari. Adobe needs to code and release a version of flash, which works in conjunction with the touch platform, and then license it to Apple, for them to even think about supporting it.

Also remember, it's not good for Apple to support flash. Many sites now broadcast full episodes and seasons of hit dramas and tv shows (take Hulu.com for example). Therefore if everyone who has an iPod, enabled with flash could watch this content, streamed for free from these sites, what would be the point in the 'Tv Programmes' section on iTunes. Apple's sales in TV/music video sales would drop dramatically, if not stop altogether. It's just too risky for Apple to support flash on mobile safari, on both iPhone and iPOd touch at this time. They risk iTunes revenue taking a huge fall.

The reason(s) I believe Apple and Adobe will never announce flash support for mobile Safari for the touch platform.

EDIT: I believe that to be incorrect.

I know for a fact that Adobe wants to release Flash for the iPhone. It's entirely up to Apple. They've done and will continue to do what they can, but Apple is very carefully watching the nature of how it wants to craft its platform. I think Apple has a very good reason, too. --But don't be confused into thinking Adobe isn't tripping over itself to get on board. They're being shown the red light for now.

Apple believes it can leave out features at will. Like no iPod has had a microphone or FM Tuner, even though almost all other players. have them. Flash is no big thing either, since most "MP3" players don't have browsers. The only thing that troubles me is that some iPhone advertisments had flash playing in the background...

I'm kinda glad that Flash is not yet supported on the iPod touch/iPhone. The reason why is Download Times. Imagine having to go to, for example, ESPN.com. There are more flash advertisements on that front page alone then most websites combined. Imagine that on EDGE?

I think that 1.1.3 will clean up Safari a lot, and make most of those stupid bugs go away. My opinion though.:apple:

MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE A JAILBROKEN iPod touch, IF YOU DO, APPLE WILL DISABLE YOUR DEVICE WITH THIS UPDATE....

SO I REPEAT, DO NOT JAILBREAK YOUR TOUCH!!!!!!

IF YOU DO HAVE IT JAILBROKEN, YOU NEED TO UN-JAILBREAK IT....

This information is a bit out dated, to say the least

If Apple do indeed intend to "brick" jailbroken ipod touches, then they would have to give some sort of warning way before the update is due to be released, otherwise people with jailbroken ipods (like me) will go rushing into this software update and in no time will be gutted because they will have a disabled device, and also disabled jailbroken touches are worthless because jailbroken touches void the ipods warranty. That said, I hope to see many good things with this update, including the "wobbling icon" effect, as well as the various interface facelifts which will be very exciting.

Anyone know of any new applications being added with the 1.1.3 software update? I hope to see google maps as standard with the software:D:apple:

iPod Touch

There are also rumours that the new update could bring us the capability to change the dock into maybe an iphone dock, and many more pre loaded docks:apple:

Play a youtube video or any flash content for that matter and open up Activity Monitor. Then listen for your computers fans to go berserk. Flash content is hugely power consuming, it streams fast but is quite an inefficient piece of coding as far as I can tell. Playing a movie in quicktime takes less than half of the cpu power to play than a video on youtube. Power consumption will be the reason Flash never makes its way to the iPhone or iPod touch, at least without a helluva lot of complaints.

I see them supporting it the same way they support Quicktime, and giving you options to escalate the default level of support if you like draining your battery. I don't think you have to go all or nothing.

Does anyone know whether you can get a dedicated charger and computer dock for the ipod touch like you could with the ipod nano 2G?

I heard there was a virus released for iTouch and iPhone saying it was the 1.1.3 update.

And what can we expect for the touch, We hear a lot about the iPhone but not much about touch ...

Yeah I find that as well, all the jailbreaking websites and hacking sites are focusing on the iphone, not the touch, when they are basically the same device but 1 doesnt have a phone on it. And I don;t know why the iPhone has so much more advertising either. Could someone help me out:confused::confused:?

Thanks

You want to know why iPhone has more advertising than iPod touch?

Simply, iPhone costs near on $800 with a tarrif/price plan. The iPod touch costs just $399. Which is going to make the most revenue? - iPhone.

Apple want to shift the iPhone in boat loads. After that, Apple will have enough revenue to design and create iPhone 2 (assuming it has the same branding). I see iPod touch as one of Apple's of-late 'hobbies', just like AppleTv. All that makes it successful really, is the fact it starts with an 'i' and ends in a 'd'. iPod is such a established brand, Apple could release a toaster, announce it plays music, videos and photos while your eating your toast, go ahead and call it 'iPod toast' and you'd all be sold.

They are truely, the only company I know, who could sell their products by just using a brand name. The way they name their products is so catchy and memorable, that advertising is just pushing the sales, they could sell it on the name alone. Picture it, and ad airs with a black backdrop and the word 'iPod' fades in and out. Thats all Apple need, and they'd have people flocking to the stores in their millions.
