Yeah, I have, and it sucks. Most of the time. And it's expensive. And I won't change my opinion that you can achieve the same grade of simplicity and ease of use and functionality through completely FREE email.

Email requires data no? Therefore the receiver needs to have a data plan or it becomes expensive for them and they have to have an email account setup on their phone.

Also many tariffs in the UK at least take MMS as part of the free allocation of SMS albeit at a rate of 4 to 1. All phones these days (expect the iPhone) come with native MMS so the user will simply receive the picture message for free.

If Apple want to target business smartphone users, how many of them use MMS? for business? come on... is like all this people who don't buy the MBA because there are not enough USB ports...

In Europe MMS have always been quite expensive! nobody uses it, I received one in all my life... SMS instead are reaching crazy levels, now you get 1000 SMS allowances a month!
I worked in a GSM operator, so we had "access" to it... but never bothered using MMS, also it is clumsy and difficult to se in 99% of the phone models, so why Apple should bother?

While I recognize that most "business" people would be more liekly to use E-Mail to send a picture rather than an MMS program, does it hurt to have the option? What about applications that are less "business" oriented? (iPod, photos, iTunes Wi-Fi dowload Application, etc.) I myself never use the iTunes downloader, but the option is there. Take the stocks application for example; I am a 20 year old college student, and I really have NO use whatsoever for the stocks application (yet... hopefully). It's not like Apple isn't capable of supplying a product with both E-Mail and MMS, if anything I would have thought it a natural idea to INCLUDE both features.

If someone cant set-up an email account then they shouldn't have an iPhone, serious.

Wow... just wow. I logged in just so I could let you know how amazing I find your post.

Let's be reasonable now. Sometimes when you have to set up an email account (incoming and SMTP outgoing) there are issues, such as SSL or not, password authenticated SMTP, etc. Sure, it's easy for most of us who are glued to a computer every day, but sometimes people expect this to "just work", which is a common philosophy among Apple customers, I dare say.

Go grab a coffee and take it easy. Cheers!

Yes they do and they have it. In the end, it's cheaper, though. If they want the feature they pay a fixed rate for it, if they don't need it, they don't. There is no hassle with SMS budget plans.

I just say, the system is all wrong in the States and Europe. That's all. Apple goes in the right direction with unlimited data IMHO.

So yeah, this is my first post! woot woot. I had my heart broken this morning too with the update that almost did nothing. It was even more broken with an iTunes update that i was sure was to secure the SDK. how much longer must we wait!!! PS. Who wants a 32 Gig iPhone? I do! I do!

My first post too, I've been reading this forum for more than 2 years with out a profile though.

Hey guy's, Ive just updated to the new firmware. Something I haven't seen before is under carrier, there is now tmobile and orange.

I think it just shows the carriers that are visible in your current location: On mine I see vodafone too. I believe this option is to allow you to select specific carrier when roaming and is something that every other phone I've had in the last 5 years has also supported.

This is like arguing that because you don't like tortia chips and salsa, your mexican resturant of choice shouldn't carry it at all (regardless if it costs extra or not, it's basic equipment).

Granted the system may be wrong but since apple is based in the states surely they could pander to their own market. And since it is wrong apple should at least allow the functionality as it will be a couple of years before everyone is on data plans. So until then lots of people will see it as a major downfall and might decide not to buy the phone. It would be trivial for them to add support but would gain them quite a few sales. It isn't harmful to have a feature that you may not use but others will especially if this feature is unobtrusive.

Bluetooth?

does anyone have any insight to what and possible bluetooth update might include? i would love to sync my contacts and calendar right now in class.

Using this logic Apple shouldn't have included a SMS program in the iPhone either because hey you can just send me an email instead, why use SMS.

All the people that have been on here talking about this iPhone ordering system are gonna feel kind of dumb if they are wrong. I'm not saying it isn't possible, I just think it is kind of weird that it would happen out of nowhere like this.

Yeah you're probaly right but it still would be super cool.I'm not going to utilize the feature at all, and i think that it would be a waste of space for most people. Lets just hope for the dam* SDK

It's more like when I claim that Plastic Bags are bad for the environment and I would applaud every shop that doesn't use them and forces people to carry baskets. You see, still everybody'd complain that plastic bags are convenient, but it would not change the fact that they are bad and that there are other ways of having convenience (like carrying little foldable re-usable bags).

Or on the flipside, it is like you, a tortilla and salsa lover, choosing to go to the one mexican restaurant that you know doesn't serve tortilla chips and salsa.

But you still being upset about it despite it being your choice to go there. Especially considering all the neighbourhood places that can serve you up your favourite tasty snack.

Ok, now I've confused myself and am getting hungry!

1.Safari and the iPod running at the same time has definitely improved. I've been running both for about 30 minutes now and neither have cooped out. This is a definite plus for me because Safari use to crash alllllll the time.

2. While making an on-the-go playlist, my iPhone would crash if it were playing the list or if I was adding songs for more than 5 minutes. So far that's working perfectly!

This update might not have come with flashing lights and whistles but i'm happy with it. The phone should be working 100% before we get fancy.

True! It's a pity the market is perverted far enough. ;) I'm half-serious here.

yeah im in the uk and our only carrier is O2 so maybe tmobile and orange are gonna be carriers also?
