FYI...if anyone is getting the 1602 error when trying to install this update, try freeing up some room on your iPhone and then doing the update.

Prior to trying this as a last resort I had tried to restore (failed), reinstall iTunes (useless...didn't work), and restart my iPhone and switch cable (failed again).

However, I freed up about 500mb and it worked fine...go figure.

*NEWS FLASH*

This is the thread to discuss the 1.1.4 firmware, not whether you think flash is a standard or not. If you would like to discuss this take it elsewhere. If you have something to say about the 1.1.4 update, then please say it, but quit the OT bickering. PLEASE!!!!!!! :)

Excellent. Made my night!

Why? Because it was completely wrong? While the physical camera itself can't be upgraded (for instance, it isn't going to magically have 3 megapixels all of a sudden) software controls things such as the refresh rate. That's the biggest thing people were talking about my dear... ;) I, for one, agree that there has been improvement. It seems like the refresh rate is cranked up so that when you move the phone it doesn't freak out.

Can someone tell me what the tabs bug that appears to be fixed is? I really hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary and was just wondering what it was all about.

Good point. I totally agree.

Back on topic: my internet connection is very slow so I'm still downloading the update, I suspect I'll finish it off tomorrow morning.

I'm right there with you on MMS. If we do end up getting Flash before MMS, I will be mad. I find it extremely difficult to believe that it is so hard to bring MMS to iPhone. I don't care if the quality is bad or if the pics don't fully utilize the iPhone screen. It is really simple, I would like to look at the pics that my friends and family send through text message. Just do it already.

I agree on the implementation of MMS. My girlfriend sent me a few pics from Hawaii on her ATT Blackberry via MMS and I had to go to some ATT website and type in a login and password for EACH jpg!! What a giant pain in the a__!!
It took me 10 minutes going back and forth from her SMS message to the ATT website. By the time I was finished I was ready for a drink. C'mon Apple & ATT, it can't be that difficult to add MMS. I mean is the iPhone THE ONLY phone that can't receive MMS?

I don't know if this has been posted or was an old feature that I just never noticed.

In the photo albums if you have more than 1 screens worth of pictures and you scroll up or down the menu at the top and bottom are transparent and you can see the background pictures through them, a bit like Leopard.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Can anyone see if the video-out bug still exists.

Here's what I mean. When my iPod touch is plugged into my TV with the Apple brand cables (or any video cable actually) the video wouldn't not play at a constant framerate... every so often I'd see a jerk or skip in the playback. This happens with ALL videos despite the quality or encoding type or size and this ONLY happened with FW 1.1.3. The firmwares below 1.1.3 played perfectly. I hope that 1.1.4 addressed this issue. Can anyone with a video cable plug your iPod in and see if it's better now?

It would be nice if they fixed the problem with BT disconnecting/reconnecting every 30 secs when paired with a Garmin Nuvi. I should find out within an hour when I'm in my car again.

Very interesting... I never noticed if this was on the previous versions or not (I'm good as missing little things like that ;) ). Does anyone on 1.1.3 or earlier have this? Nothing big, but it looks kinda nifty!

My 1.1.3 is like this. I just checked.

I've not noticed this with 1.1.3 at all... having just updated to 1.1.4, I've not yet plugged the Touch into my television, so I've got no idea if it is any different.

If this update really is just for bug fixes, what a let down! I was really hoping for some new functionality to fix the few shortcomings the iPhone does have. But, then again, Apple can't release new features with every update. I mean I suppose they could, but just not practical.

I know! Making your phone more stable is such a letdown!!!! Why cant they fix the shortcomings of the best phone I've ever had???

nope, not new in 1.1.4 - have this on my 1.1.3 iphone...

Sorry, but that's been there since 1.1. ;) Sorry to raise your hopes up. :) :apple:

Wait. She has a Blackberry, YOU have an iPhone... why the heck didn't she just e-mail it? Or, alternatively, MMS it to an e-mail address checked by your phone instead of your mobile number?

When you both have e-mail capable phones, it seems silly to use MMS.

She sent MMS messages to her family and me all at the same time. I agree she could have just emailed me, but she sends MMS messages to everyone else. I have the only phone (iPhone) that wont accept them.

Starbucks can say what they want about the 3 hour training as did the USA Goverment saying shoting down that Sataliete was important due to "toxic substances", anyway, basically, all starbucks on the Apple system are from one system such as a Starbucks itunes or whatever, they need to update this eventually due to the fact if SDK is widely open to download etc people in starbucks will want to aswell, thats my opinion so ye :D

I work designing satellites. If we hadn't shot down that satellite, we would have been very bad space-fairing neighbors. Hydrazine is a fuel I designed in to use on a student project a number of years ago and NASA said "ok, but you've got to let us handle this stuff." Hydrazine is a great choice for satellite fuel, and it is very dangerous. Letting it crash land randomly would have about a 30% chance of killing a large number of innocent people. Even if there were other reasons for shooting it down, hydrazine was enough.

Safari Tabs

Reports that Safari "tab" changes do not cause pages to be dumped are incorrect. It appears to be based on the browser cache. If you open a second "tab" and surf a media heavy site like Flickr or CNN you will see the other tabs have indeed dumped their cache. While an improvement in cache management is apparent, it's not what people think it is.

tell her not to mms you then. seems pretty simple to me...

The No MMS deal is just stupid. You would think they would be all over this trying to make more money out of people.

Not everybody had an e-mail enable phone plain and simple MMS is there for a reason and it is a popular method of sending pictures.

Better yet, why not have Apple/ATT join the party and implement MMS, or at least have a developer create a 3rd party solution. That seems pretty simple to me!

hopefully the rumblings remain true for a firmware 2.0 release.

i was hoping this would bring the major updates.. i mean MBP update and copy/paste on my iPhone in one day.. i could've died happy. looks like the wait continues.

Because the ENTIRE planet uses MMS to exchange pictures on their phone? So now everyone else must have an email client on their phones. Everytime someone wants to send me something, I have to say no, my $500 phone doesn't support this basic feature sorry. To top it off, because of Apples resiliency in supporting Flash, the ridiculous site you are forwarded on to, to check your pictures...IS IN FLASH.

Share my line of thinking, you mean the logical line of thinking?

Yeah it would be nice if the iphone had flash but we all knew it was without flash when we bought it right?:)
Yeah apple said it was coming, i think it is but if it doesn't it won't bother me.
I would like to be able to see pics in safari though:rolleyes:
I like the iphone the way it is but am pretty sure they will keep bringing new software to it, just have faith!:D

Ever asked yourself just WHY there is no email-client on each and every phone? Maybe you people should start bugging Motorola Nokia and the other makers about implementing an actually USEFUL feature instead of forcing Apple to include utter rubbish into their beautiful device...
