Let's cut Apple some slack. They've sold a zillion, give or take a few. They're experts at this, I've never had better service than Apple's delivery system.

----------

While most one off orders come from China. For large product releases Apple "pre-ships" pallets of phones to the main delivery hubs/distribution stations in the US.

Respectfully this is simply not true.

So you think everyone's is stateside, and those who have scanned are being loaded onto trucks to go out from the major hubs?

Assuming Apple hasn't changed the way they handle large releases - yes.

I've gone through this with all the past iDevices. I live in LA and ours come out of the Ontario, CA hub.

I'm sure there will be a lot of FedEx/UPS with full trucks in the next few days.

Out of curiosity what is not true? If you place an order for a MBP, TC, etc - they ship from China to Ankorage to your local hub to your house.

If they are all coming from China, that is different than the past launches. Maybe it's the whole pre-order difference.

Maybe they're handling the sorting over there in China.

None the less. I'm confident we will be receiving our phone by Tuesday.

You really think all of the phones are sitting in China right now? I can tell you with 100% accuracy that Apple has always shipped in bulk there big launched to distribution hubs across the US.

I'm sure some one that has a shipped status can confirm it doesn't show it's in China right now.

See this post:

16gb SG AT&T ordered at 3:02 being shipped to NYC. (I did not receive a "Shipped" confirmation email from Apple, but when I checked the iOS app it showed shipped and offered tracking)

This was attached:

Each year the 20+ iPhone's my friends and family ordered the moment online goes live have all shipped from China and arrived on our doorstep within just 3 days.

Believe whatever suits you :)

For many of the Tues deliveries: Anchorage on Monday, Louisville (or other regional sort facility) on Mon night, your city on Tuesday morning.

Alright I'm really freaking pissed right now.

The plane that was supposed to fly to Alaska left 8 minutes ago and my phone was not on that flight

What the hell Apple? Why was my phone not on that plane?

Thanks for the laugh!

Maybe that's the wrong plane. By late tonight/early tomorrow a lot more people will have shipped ones I bet. It will be interesting to see to see what shipping dates those have.

I'm in the same boat (or actually warehouse as you though man). I'm betting we'll be getting them the same time as everyone else.

How do you know which flight your phone is supposed to be on?

I would call Apple! This is totally unacceptable! I wouldn't stop there, I'd call UPS every 30 minutes... You might want to call US customs too!

I hope we get our phones same time as everyone else.

I guess there really isn't anything we can do other than bitch to Apple for treating us as 2nd class customers.

Folks who ordered from Verizon at 3:0X am have tracking units showing up in Memphis already.

Apple has been the slowpoke with this release. Certainly gives me pause about ordering from them in the future. They have changed from the end user is the customer to the carrier subsidizers are the customer.

Someone posted the flight tracker data for the UPS plane leaving at 5:30 a while back in this thread.

My phone wasn't even shipped to UPS.

I don't think we can really be 100% sure that's our plane. Remember, apple quoted us sept 30th or so, so they're still easily on track.

You mean their tracking went from china to memphis already? I'm jealous, considering mine doesn't say shipped yet.

Got my confirmation email at 3:12 AM but it still hasn't shipped.

Honestly I'm not too concerned. I don't think the people whose iPhones are getting on UPS planes in China right now will actually be delivered any sooner than mine. They're shipping thousands and thousands of phones at the exact same time, somebody has to be loaded first.

I realize that, but many people have expected delivery dates of Tuesday.

Why does their phone get shipped out before ours? Why do they have priority over us?

Yes, their tracking details (VZ is using FedEx) show last scan in Memphis. So that ensures delivery by tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest depending on location.

I got snowed this release. Hoping to wake up tomorrow to an email showing my phone at least stateside. Really need it before end of the week as I'm traveling for work next week.

First- again, I'm not convinced that plane was ours and has actually left our phones.

Second- even if it is and we'll have to wait a day or two more, (which yeah is kind of annoying...) it is still random. They aren't singling you out.

Did they start in china? I'm jealous, but whatever.

Just my thought,
I really do believe the first batch of phones have been shipped, or are being shipped as we type.
There's probably just some delay in being updated on apples system.
Usually it takes UPS 24 hours for a shipping label to even show up in their system.

I don't think they've left china though. But most likely they will in the next 12 hours? Its 6am in china right now, and while they do ship 24/7, expect everything to speed up in around an hour or 2.

I still don't really understand the plane tracking etc, so if anyone that does, are there any UPS planes from hong kong to anchorage leaving in the next.. 4-8 hours?

Also, just from experience, if a package is being scanned, lets say right now. it will only show up online in around 2 hours. I've religiously tracked packages before, refreshing every few minutes, and then eventually they show up that something happened 2 hours ago. USPS is even worse with this by the way.. they have a wait of a few years for their tracking to update...
