Perhaps instead of retweeting Conan O'Brien, Tim Cook needs to get on the phone with suppliers in China and the CEOs of UPS and FedEx to make sure customers get their purchases ASAP. Note to Tim: your competition is not far behind. You need to own the experience.

Just my thought,
I really do believe the first batch of phones have been shipped, or are being shipped as we type.
There's probably just some delay in being updated on apples system.
Usually it takes UPS 24 hours for a shipping label to even show up in their system.

I don't think they've left china though. But most likely they will in the next 12 hours? Its 6am in china right now, and while they do ship 24/7, expect everything to speed up in around an hour or 2.

I still don't really understand the plane tracking etc, so if anyone that does, are there any UPS planes from hong kong to anchorage leaving in the next.. 4-8 hours?

Also, just from experience, if a package is being scanned, lets say right now. it will only show up online in around 2 hours. I've religiously tracked packages before, refreshing every few minutes, and then eventually they show up that something happened 2 hours ago. USPS is even worse with this by the way.. they have a wait of a few years for their tracking to update...

Ok so when I get my iPhone 6s or 7 you think? :trollolol:

If they are still in China, you likely are looking at Friday at best and most likely slipping into Monday of next week due to Chinese holidays.

Still haven't seen a 32GB gold ship from apple.com. I think that was the least produced one and we'll have to wait until the 30th or the first week of October.

Someone posted the flight tracker data for the UPS plane leaving at 5:30 a while back in this thread.

That plane is going the other way. Its inbound to Hong Kong. It returns tomorrow. Someone mentioned a Chinese plane but they don't hall for Apple. It'll be a UPS plane almost for sure. This has happened before. They will sit seemingly forever in China until tomorrow when the UPS flight returns. Then they'll make it through Louisville blazingly fast and be delivered the 24th/25th.

I was under the impression the holiday was next weekend, right?

Mid-Autumn day was this past weekend. The big holiday (National Day) starts Oct 1 but many families take days off the week between. I work with China a lot and it's hard to get a hold of people in between these holidays and impossible during National Day. Not surprised Apple's website just has "October" as delivery dates on their web site now. No visibility.

Yes, but it's tracking that they don't update, packages still get delivered. Just can't predict when they will be. I have a package that was delivered earlier in the week, just went to track it, according to online, it's still stuck in customs. Okay USPS keep thinking that...

BTW, isn't there a hurricane type storm over hong kong right now?
and I don't think theres a holiday right now, just talked to one of my manufacturers in china and he said shipping will be usual this week, maybe a small delay due to the storm.

If this was true, I'd be really mad. The 16gig and 32gig is the popular model, why would they not make more of these

So that could be our plane tomorrow, but after it returns?

Correct. I could be wrong but I predict its this plane: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS62D. The details match up and it appears to be a non-usual flight with no history.

The USPS is not UPS. UPS tracking is pretty accurate. The typhoon missed Hong Kong. And it is Chinese National Day the end of the month and they take a week off typically from like the 28th - 2nd.

I know the difference between UPS and USPS, I mentioned that UPS may have a small delay with tracking. Then I compared it to USPS which sucks with tracking.
It seems very plausible that the 62D plane going into hong kong will leave with the first batch of iPhones. I want information on that HKG - ANC flight. 63D? I can't find anything on google.

How can we get our hands on the flight manifest? Are these required to be publicly available upon request? There is a live feed of the ATC at Hong Kong Intl Airport. If you can find the ground channel some times you can get some information on cargo. But admittedly it can be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Yeah my understanding is as below, its worse next weekend and shouldn't be a big deal for us 1-3 day people

Yes. Its the end of the month. The ones sitting at the UPS hub will surely make it out by then.

Ok cool that's what I thought.

Yeah I know what you mean. Also, someone said the hurricane (well I heard typhoon) missed it so we are good. Confirmed below.

Sweet, I hope you're right!

UPS doesn't pre-schedule apparently. If you look at the Anchorage to Louisville leg, there are no future scheduled departures. But if you look at past flights, like 10 UPS flights alone have done that leg.

I do not think the shipments will go through Hong Kong. ZhengZhou is much closer to Shanghai. UPS 81 has regular daily flights from Shanghai - Anchorage - Louisville.

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS81/history/20130921/1800Z/ZSPD/PANC

They could go via Shanghai but traditionally they leave through Hong Kong. If you look over manifests from last year, they went through Hong Kong and were scanned into Hong Kong within 2 hours of being scanned out of ZhengZhou. This is also the route most of the MacBooks, etc take.

Dude, just chill. Go live your life. Your phone will get there when it gets there. I understand that people are excited, but this is taking it to extremes when you're trying to find out a flight manifest on a plane to determine if your phone is potentially among it's cargo.

This isn't my life but this is a hobby that I enjoy partaking once a year. Sure I can spend 8 hours watching football like I normally do on Sundays, or I can enjoy this mix of my aviation and technology hobbies for a few hours a day. Once my phone arrives I probably won't look at UPS flight logs for some time.

Agree with u, zhengzhou is like far away from HK. I checked the launch for iphone 5, they were shipped from zhengzhou and sat in Incheon for a while.

Look at comments for pics of last year's manifest. It takes 2 hours.

I only saw ones going to Europe going through Incheon. The US ones went through Hong Kong.

Edit: It looks like there are two primary routes, one through each: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4304988?start=30&tstart=0

That's great. It's a far less busy airport.

Weather is foggy though this morning. Hope it clears so planes can move on time. Have to feed kids dinner but will do some additional analysis after.

Sucks, but they have to eat at some point and been tugging on my leg for a while now.

I want my phone ASAP.

Considering I'm in need of a phone (my old one broke), and my phone is a huge part of my life.

Still not shipping update. This is getting ridiculous. I'll call Apple Customer Service in an hour or so to demand some information from them.
