Sorry if this is a newb question, but do all phones go from Alaska to Kentucky? I'm in San Diego and it seems counterintuitive for my phone to go to KY only to come all the way back here.

My phone is currently en route to Alaska from Korea but UPS has delivery scheduled for Thursday by the end of the day.

There is a chance that once it makes it to Louisville it can make it on to the next flight to San Diego and you may get it a day early. At least that's what happened to mine. Originally scheduled for Wednesday delivery but is now on a truck out for delivery.

Delivery to Sandy Eggo 9/26

Bummer. I was naively hoping that CA would get them earlier since it's closer to China...

I'm in Sandy Eggo too with a 9/26 delivery, on the plane to AK now. I need patience and I need it NOW!

I feel lucky that I'm getting it so soon, and really happy for the people that are getting theirs today, already have them, and more people tomorrow.

Too bad we couldn't attach a frequent flier number to the iPhone before it left China :)

I agree with you. Technically, our phones shouldn't be arriving until Friday and some people are up in arms that it's not delivering tomorrow.

We're lucky that a lot of us are getting it today or tomorrow.

Mine is scheduled for Thursday also to the west coast, but it's on the current flight RKSI - PANC - KSDF. I'm hoping that the Thursday delivery is because the connection is tight in Louisville and it may not make the "sort." Hopefully they've got the phones pre-sorted already, and that there's a Seattle container on the flight from Anchorage. All they'll have to do is drag the containers to the waiting outbound flights right on the ramp in SDF.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Looks like we are on the same pallet. Identical scan times and dates

I got the same "missed connection" also. Shouldn't the status update at some point with the rescheduled delivery date? I would hope it is delivered tomorrow.

The real bummer is Fashion Valley Apple Store has the phone I want in stock. I thought about holding out and trying to get it in store but I chickened out and ordered at 12:01 on 9/20. My wife on the other hand got the 16gb Gold and is very happy we got hers ordered as they aren't in stock anywhere near us.

Well, Alaska might not have the capacity to remove about 400,000 phones all in one plane, bundled into pallets and then split them to different distribution points, where as the KY main hub can EASILY handle that kind of separation and distribution.

This always seems to happen to me...

"an exception occurs when a package or shipment encounters an unforeseen event, which could result in a change to the expected delivery day."

This is my exact status as well.

Louisville, KY, United States 09/24/2013 5:16 A.M. The scheduled connection was missed.

Well the flight we all think our phones are on is about 45 minutes from Alaska.

I guess in the next couple of hours we should get some updates when they scan them... I hope...
Mine still says it will deliver tomorrow to NY

Yep, I picked up an unlocked phone last night at UTC. I ordered an AT&T version that'll be here Thursday but decided I'd rather have an unlocked model so I can try out TMobile service.

If they can get seasonal workers up there to work on oil rigs and fishing boats seems like they might be able to get a few guys to split out some iPhones once a year. Seems much less dangerous to me... :D

UPS 99 to anchorage is landing in 45 minutes. From there it will either go UPS 6063, 109, 99, 61, 63, or 81. theres a lot of flights to louisville from anchorage in the next 4 hours.

To newark (where it will go for me), UPS 1082, 1084, or 1070

They don't even unload most times. UPS99 will just refuel and change crews.

I ordered a 16GB Space Gray (AT&T) using the Apple Store app and received confirmation at 3:03am EST. My phone arrived at my local hub in MD this morning and, as of about 15 minutes ago, is out for delivery! UPS typically comes to my neighborhood between 5-6pm, so I should have it after work today.

My wife ordered a 32GB Space Gray (AT&T) using the Apple Store website, received confirmation at 3:10am EST. Her phone *just* arrived in Incheon. It is slated for delivery tomorrow. I guess we shall see.

My phone just showed up! Woohoo! It's amazing that this little gadget traveled from China to MD so quickly.

They don't use that many people. They use a warehouse sized machine that costs millions of dollars to build connected to millions of dollars in computers that determine the best route, pallet, etc for each package.

Hell, even the delivery trucks have GPS that minimizes left-turns because they take longer. They have studied the hell out of the problem...I promise this is the best way.

They also need parking for planes, which happens in Louisville. They can't just fly a bunch to Alaska and load up.

two-thirds of U.S. cities were less than 24 hours from Louisville by ground, and three-fourths of domestic cities could be reached within a two-hour flight.

That's believable but funny.

Anyone know why UPS99 did a big squiggly over the Pacific? Thought that was kind of odd. Weather or turbulence I would assume.

That's believable but funny.

Its true. FedEx does as well. Some company developed it and it saved millions in fuel costs.

the software helped the company shave 28.5 million miles off its delivery routes, which has resulted in savings of roughly three million gallons of gas and has reduced CO2 emissions by 31,000 metric tons.

Ohhh, I hope mines makes the cut off for early delivery then!

If UPS can get an Amazon package to me a day earlier, i'm hoping they can get my Apple package to me a day earlier! :D

I'm in Los Angeles and my phone is on UPS99 with a delivery date of Thursday, but it blows me away that Beezy253's screenshot says his shipment went from Louisville to Seattle in 2 hours?! Is that even possible?

It seems a lot of people are getting deliveries a day early; hopefully us west coasters get that quick of a turnaround time from Kentucky!

If I'm as lucky as Beezy, I think I should be able to pick it up at UPS when they open tomorrow morning!:D
