This is absolutely fine with me as I do not intend to use it anyways. As long as it is like iCloud and it doesn't take too much space in my memory I'm fine with the occasional advertisement disguised as a notification. I think this might actually be great news

The question is leading: "what is the maximum amount you'd be willing to pay?".

It's very easy to answer an amount even if you aren't personally interested, on the slim chance it ever proves useful.

Were they even presented 'not willing to pay' as a choice, or they were expected to come up with that answer on their own?

until it provides anything even resembling what chatgpt can do, no way.

I've used chatgpt to do the sums on a fully novated salary sacrifice lease with multiple different vehicle options, calculating residuals, risks, etc., and locate an available, in stock car within minutes, whereas browsing the local car sale sites was a waste of time.

apple intelligence is a bit of a joke if they're asking $10 a month for whatever it is that it looks like it will do any time soon.

To me it feels like the next generation of the „Apple hardware is expensive, but you get all this on the software side with it“ tax. As long as ChatGPT is the subscription integrated in everything I think they would be insane to ad a second monthly charge on it. Whatever is on device should not be locked behind a sub ever.

Essentially the survey returns a result that is significantly cheaper than the ChatGPT sub. So I suppose it’s not as insane as some people make it out to be.
But then again this stuff gets cheaper to host and is freely available in spaces like Google search. With many competitors it’s always going to be best for consumers. I mean if you can just copy and paste their email I’m a free tool to get the streamlining you desire why would you pay Apple to do the same.

I am willing to pay (max. $5 per month, just for fun), if all promised features are available on day-one with the new iPhone.
Otherwise I could image that Mr. Cook would ask me to pay on day-one, bundled with online order (like Apple Care), but those features just come after 10 months with iOS xx.9.

Who the hell did they interview? Apple intelligence basically doesn’t do anything. The three useful features, only two of which are available, (better spellcheck via rewrite, better search in photos, and the elusive actually useful Siri) have all been available in some form for android and windows users for a decade.

Im just waiting for Apple to integrate Apple Intelligence with the Metaverse for the ultimate waste of time and space.

Paying for what it is now? Absolutely not. Paying for what Apple promised it would be? Still a very hard sell.

It's a modestly useful feature for summarising emails and the visual ID feature, but it's not something I would likely pay separately for. Maybe some of the features can be included in an iCloud+ subscription if they feel the need to monetise this directly.

Would love to see the exact questions used in the survey. Bet they didn't qualify anything and relied on common PR definitions of "AI" which ignore or excludes the possibility of Apple leap frogging current generative stochastic LLM approaches and come out with something higher quality and "thinks different" as in doesn't make stuff up and have high error rate and not real error detection abilities. One can dream.

Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Even as Apple is busy scrubbing any reference to Apple Intelligence from their ads, there's a contingent of users who have become willing participants to the PT Barnum School of Retail Humbug.
I'm actually waiting for the shoe to drop when stockholders realize the hundreds of millions spent to create a thing (and the software built to justify its use), is for a product that a majority of users don't actually need or use. “Squirrel!" technology.

This Way to the Egress 👉🏼

Talk about a rigged survey. Run that same survey on Macrumors and you'll see maybe 2% of users would pay anything for it.

The AI features are lackluster and nightmarish, I'm sorry apple you need to try way harder. I mean make siri work first of all. The AI emoji is junk and severely limited, Photo clean up works for pimples but fails hard at anything actually challenging, the image playground is almost hard coded to give you the same image and deny anything creative to happen. I dislike AI in general but Apple has taken a promising tech and knee capped it so hard as to make it useless in every way. Paying for it is an absolute joke imo and should not be considered as a revenue stream at all.

Morgan Stanley has an excellent track record with their surveys to. Probably the best out there
I’m not surprised people here reject these survey results based off of their strong personal views of Apple Intelligence. I find the data hard to believe myself. But until proven wrong, data from a reputable source is data. It’s possible it’s skewed or misinterpreted, or it may just show how non-representative of the general population we in MR are and how poorly we understand the average American.
