I'm probably late to the party here in thinking this, but I would *love* if Apple made it a paid for add-on. Because that means, for my own use, I could always keep it disabled, without little bits being put into opt-in with iOS updates. I currently use a 13 mini, so I don't use Apple Intelligence, but if they release a new mini or I cave to getting a bigger phone, I know I will be turning all the features off. But it would be much easier to just not pay for the feature so I don't have to worry about turning them off.

This is going to be Exhibit A in the class action. These results mean that at least 1 in 2 people think that Apple Intelligence can do everything the commercials say it can do.

Now, they will run the same survey, but live demonstrating Apple Intelligence, and then asking folks what they would pay for the real life version.

Anyone want to guess if the second survey will yield more or less than 1 in 2 paying $10/mo? :)

Not a single friend or family member uses or is aware of AI. But most use ChatGPT to some degree. I use AI on my 15 Pro Max but only because of the nicer Siri UI. I use medical AI LLMs for my work quite a bit, but many are open source and free. Some of the newer AI dictation can be upwards of $100/mo but depending on your specialty, it more than pays for itself with charting time savings.

You know, at first I thought a paid plan was foolish, and I still do, a HUGE waste of resources for apple, no doubt.
I would NEVER pay for it.
But now, I think it good.
I should be almost guaranteed to NOT have this nonsense if I don't pay, great deal.

No way this is true lol. You’d have to pay me 10$/month for me to use it regularly on my iphone

Yeah.... No. I paid a fortune for an iPhone 16 Pro Max. I'm not paying out more money for services easy to live without. If Apple opts to cripple core functionality to force an unnecessary extra expense the next round of hardware won't have an Apple logo on it. While some people may be too afraid to ditch Apple I've been using Linux desktops/laptops for many years and, given incentive (demands for more cash), could ditch iPhone/iPad also.

I registered with Macrumors just to comment on this article. I would absolutely not pay for Apple intelligence. I’ve been an iPhone user since the original and I see it as them generating a new revenue stream. I would look for a new device and never go back to Apple. I canceled my news subscription because it’s so far overpriced. The company has gone down hill under Cook’s leadership.

This survey seems totally unbelievable. Everyone I know has an iPhone and I’ve never heard any of them ever mention Apple Intelligence. And of course all of us here know how the rollout has gone. I question whether 50% of iPhone users even know what Apple Intelligence is, or was advertised to be.

I suspect these are many of the same folks who pay for Tesla's "Full Self Driving". Another product that doesn't exist...

One in two? Seriously? Who on earth did they survey? Tech geeks in SF?

To me, Apple's best move was when it took a deep breath and moved away (well-away) from what it was comfortable with. The iPod changed the world. Okay, so Apple Computer devotees wailed that Apple had ditched them, the loyal ones who'd made Apple it what it was - but nobody cared. The iPod soared. It led to the iPhone, the iPad and all the other great consumer gear. Plain old computers took a back seat.

Me? I'd pay a premium price today if Apple would just stop refining all this non-intuitive, geeky, irrelevant AI tech and just design a word-beating coffee maker or even a decent ice maker? Change their conversation again. Change the world again. I dislike so many of the consumer devices I have but, seriously, nobody is trying hard to do better. Apple could become a disruptor again, instead of pursuing some niche AI dead-end.

So

- 42% iPhone owners
- 14% own compatible iPhones

Maybe is just 1 out 2 from that 14%, making it 7%.

Nope. Who would be willing to pay and subscribe for a core function in the modern day phone? You can spin and spin and spin it until you're blue in the face, I'm not that guy.

Remember.....

And reportedly, half of people asked are willing to pay for Apple Intelligence ;)

I like most people on here, would like to know where they get their data from.

People in my circles tend to not want anything to do with AI. They don’t even use the Genmoji, Image Playground or even the sorting of emails/alerts.

It appears that the only ones that really want this are the investors.

I would like a bit better Siri. But in 90% of the times I use them, it works. Usually not working when I mispronounce a feature or change a timer

“Set a timer for 8 minutes…. I mean 10” or something like that.
