Updated to 10.2.5 this morning. So far the only bug is that I can't get rid of the language flag icon (International) in the menu bar. This was also a problem for me in 10.2.4.

TiWarrior

that's easy set the US language to on close it. Re-open it and set the US to off and it will go away.

I cant Burn CD's now/ Disk Copy is crashing

I updated this morning and as soon as I tried to
burn a CD, i got the following message.

"You have inserted a disk that contains no
volumes that OSX can read to continue with
the disk inserted click ignore"
(ignore button) (eject button)

followed by a nice crash of disk copy...

1st gen 17' iMac 800 mhz 768 megs ram

Anyone else having this problem?

Not a good update for me

While most upgrades have been very smooth, this one really has hosed my system. It starts up like normal, but minutes into working I get in 5 languages that i need to restart the computer. That's all I get... there is some number at the bottom but hell if I know what it means... I'm away on business so I can't tell you the number. I'm wondering if anyone else is having any similar problems. I am using 3 haxies from unsanity... fruitmenu, xounds, and windowshade... I also use dragthing but thats all. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this problem? It seems like when I launch an app is when it freezes.

would appreciate any ideas.

thanks:)

Same thing happened to me, it took a little head scratching, as I normally hide my doc on the right side of the screen. When the computer came up after the restart, not only could I not find the dock, I couldn't move the curosr onto the other monitor in the usual screen to screen direction. After a few moments of panic, I "unhid" the dock using "System Preferences:Dock" saw where it was, on the right side of the other monitor, decided to look at "System Preferences: Displays: Arrangement" and swapped the position back to where the two monitors actually were and everything behaved fine.

Another issue: the upgrade to 10.2.5 killed my Wacom Intuos tablet driver. I amd using what they have on their web site as their latest: 4.7.5-6. It doesn't load at startup and the tablet doesn't work.

I bet reinstalling the drivers will fix it. That or simply repairing disk permissions but I would just reinstll first.

Remove any system hack or modifier. These are the most common hangup with new system updates and more then likely you will have to wait until the hack has been updated to be compatible with the latest release.

What you are seeing is how a Kernel Panic is presented in 10.2.

Do you have any external devices plugged-in besides the apple keyboard and mouse? If so unplug them and try again. If it still continues I recommend the doing the system reinstall that saves your prefs and updating from a freshly installed system.

Done that mate!

If I look in the languages menu, there is a British and American flag. If I go to customise, the American flag isn't ticked. Ticking then un-ticking gets rid of the menu flag, but it's back again after restart:mad:

Stupid and probably not likely to fix it but have you tried repairing your disk permissions? They have an odd effect on seemingly unrelated issues sometimes.

I also had kernel panics immediately after upgrading to 10.2.5 using Software Update. I could at most get 5 minutes of operation before failure, and a required power-off and reboot. Since the kernel panic message mentioned USBHub in the software stack, I thought I'd disconnect my extra USB (2.0) hub with iMic, printer, UPS and Palm connector. The system then kept running long enough for me to download the OS X 10.2.5 Combo updater and re-install 10.2.5 from this.

So far, the system is stable, with USB hub unconnected, but it still fails within 5 minutes when the hub is re-connected. Now I need to wait for a fix or downgrade, painfully I suspect.

My belkin hub has given no such problems. I'm not sure based on your post but did you do a fresh install of 10.2 and then do the combo update on that?

Just done that to no effect. Maybe this is some government thing to get me all patriotic :D

I performed a system install and updat today. Just so I would have a fresh system with the new update. I do this every time with every update since it really prevents slow downs and potential errors due to the update on a used system. I really recommend it since it is completely painless and really doesn't take all that much time. This would most likely fix your flag problem too.

I want to update badly. I have high expectations of this little boost to fix all the problems 10.24 introduced, but I promised myself I'd wait to see that 10.25 doesn't bring other users to their knees. Please, I beg of everyone, post any issues, no matter how small.

Dan

Waiting is a good choice Dan. My normally rock soild QuickSilver is acting like PC these days since installing 10.2.5. I have experienced several system and applications crashes. Disk Doctor, Disk Warrior, Jaguar Cleaner, fsck, First Aid have not slowed the crashing as yet.

I have looked on some other forums and there are lots of folks telling my story. There is come converstation about devices on USB ports causing the problem. I have two, a Epson 890 and a Lexar SmartMedia reader. Otherwise this a real plain Jane QuickSilver.

My recommendations is to wait on this upgrade until the fix is in.

My system seems gummed up

I just downloaded and installed 10.2.5 and Safari beta 2. Nothing seems faster after I rebooted; in fact, Safari appeared a little sucker-punched on startup, and Ghost Recon quit on me mid-game (I started an already saved game. saved before the 10.2.5 update), then would not let me start subsequent games. I don't get it.

The millibit makes plenty of sense as a measure of information, but isn't especially useful for everyday storage. A millibit is what you have if you know that a certain event occurred, provided that the event in question has approximately a 99.93071% chance of occurring in any given test. A millibit doesn't tell you much. :)

To anyone with problems after the update. Reinstall OSX. It's not a big deal just quit complaining about your problems and do it. It took me all of 30 minutes to do the other day. After you do that reapair disk permissions and you will be suprised how things will fly. No hang-ups, glitches, or bugs just smooth as silk for me.

printing picts in word

I got a very strange effect after installing 10.2.5. Now, when I try to print an MS Word for OS X doc, with an inserted PICT file, it prints the figure in mirror image. I'm working around it at the moment by saving that page as a pdf and printing that (which comes out correctly, but with lowered resolution).

I know that one of the fixes had to do with presentation of PICTS, but this is too weird.

anybody have any ideas?

Delete your printer drivers and there preferences and reinstall them.

That is exactly right. I e-mailed Wacom tech support and they answered back in 2 days. This is what they said:

"Good afternoon-
___ They once again changed a number of things in the latest OS._ What I would do just to be clean about the tablet driver is go to the GO menu > Applications > Wacom > and run the "remove Wacom" then restart your system, and download and install the latest tablet driver._ This is the cleanliest way and tends to circumvent other issues of trying to repair an install._"

I did that, and my tablet works again.
