My only issue is iSync working with the Motorola v551 phone. I bought it because Apple advertised it as compatible with Tiger and it is one of the few phones that will work with Acura's bluetooth. I'm not holding my breath.

What issues are you having? I've got the v551 and I was able to sync my iCal to it, I didn't sync my contacts though

Through bluetooth or USB? I've tried to "discover" my 551 and the bluetooth wizard won't pick it up.

i dunno if u can say tiger has bugs.. i guess it does as did previous versions of os x always had some... i think this release of tiger has more "quirks" than anything else...

Hopefully 10.4.1 will fix networking glitches

I've noticed since upgrading from Jaguar to Tiger on an original 800Mhz G4 iMac that anything related to networking is almost non-functional. I have a firewall/switch connected to DSL and this is a problem only on my Mac..my PC running W2K/Linux/FreeBSD is unaffected. This was pretty disappointing to me because I had read that the user experience was greatly improved by Tiger, especially from Jaguar. Not only that, but Spotlight is not really that great on my machine. I can't find much on the Apple support site that applies either. Oh well, it gives me pause about a planned hardware upgrade as well. Dashboard is conceptually cool, but it's mostly eye candy. I guess I'll do web-browsing and email from my PClone until this gets resolved. Before this upgrade, I rarely even bothered to boot the PClone.....enough whinging, but it does give Apple a bit of a black eye, IMO

Fix the User Switch FW unmount bug!

I hope it fixes this issue

http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?128@706.ouDqawnKRa9.1@.68ad8326

In short this is how it goes..

Login with Account A, FW HD is there
Go to Login screen/Switch
Login with Account B, FW HD is there
Account B Logs-out
Log Back in to Account A, FW HD disappeared, i have to use the disk
utility to remount it

Account A never logged out, but still lost the drive mount when
Account B logged off :(

This effects ANY FW HD, its a big bummer since i share my mac with my family. HOPEFULLY it gets fixed.... *fingers crossed*

Hope Apple stablize Quartz 2D extreme.

Better performance, I get frequent spinning beach balls too... with 512MB ram.

Also, whilst Automator is a good app - its hell to use because it sooo slow even after only 4 or 5 items. Additionally, some commands don't work when workflows are saved as an app or plug in - yet they work fine inside Automator.

I'm glad Apple released Tiger, even if it has some issues. For those buying new machines, there is no upgrade cost at a later date (for Tiger). It also gets rid of the old stock that doesn't come with Tiger pre-loaded.

Many people have held off to install Tiger, because as with the release of any new OS there is potential for new issues. Good thinking.

Bravo Apple, for coming out with an update so soon and being public about it. Actually now that I think about it Tiger went Gold master how long ago???

I'm waiting until WWDC to make a purchase, by then Tiger will be pre-loaded. Many "issues" will be ironed out. And something cool will have to be announced.

Yahh Tiger.... Yahhh WWDC

Assuming your issue is that you can pair your phone for file transfer, but the option to sync it with Address Book and iCal is grayed out, then the consensus on the Apple forums appears to be that a recent software upgrade to the phone broke compatability. The particular phone software version in question is R472_G_08.18.16R_0A.

I have the exact same problem (my phone was delivered a day after Tiger was released) and am hoping that Apple fixes it in 10.4.1. The AppleInsider article specifically mentions that issues with iSync are being addressed.

May I suggest anyone with a v551 having this problem call AppleCare (if you have AppleCare) and post to the Apple forums? Making sure Apple is aware of the issue can only help.

Like SiliconAddict, I'm also curious about how the people with the biggest problems installed. I'm running Tiger on a new-ish G5 and I did a completely clean install (then moved over only the preferesces I was sure I wanted from a seperate drive), and I've only seen a few very small glitches and one semi-arcane problem (specifically that I can't get a perl module to build, not on the same level as Mail.app problems). Largely everything has worked fine, though--much smoother than 10.3.0 for me.

Beyond the crashing, if I edit a picture in any way (say, crop), iPhoto is saving the picture with over-saturated reds and highlights. ... Anybody else seeing this?
I just tested it, and no, I can't say it's doing that to me. There might be a very subtle color shift when the image is "re-rendered" (actually re-saved as a JPEG, I suppose) immediately prior to closing it's edit window, but certainly nothing destructive to the color balance or highlites.

Though I admit that I'm not a color professional, so perhaps I'm just not noticing what you're seeing as a huge change.

Since this is my only problem with Tiger, can you let me know what phone software version you are using? The problematic version, which is also the most recent, appears to be R472_G_08.18.16R_0A.

I haven't been able to do this since 10.3.7 (possibly before) and can't now in 10.3.9 so it isn't a Tiger bug only. I'd reinstall CS but it's not all that big a hassle - yet.
If you guys did an archive and install all you have to do is copy the 'Scripting Additions' folder to 'Library' from 'Previous System'. Adobe documented the problem and the fix here.

That is another known issue with the v551. The workaround is suppose to be the following (I forget where I found this - apologies to the original author):

1. Remove all pairing with the Motorola V551 from your Mac.
2. Remove all references to your Mac under "device history" on your v551.
3. Make sure your V551 has bluetooh turned on, then turn your phone off.
4. Begin pairing the v551 using "PHONE". Stop before detecting available devices!
5. Turn your phone on.
6. When you see the Bluetooth icon start to flash, continue detecting devices on your Mac.

If you are having this problem, then most likely you are NOT running R472_G_08.18.16R_0A on your v551 and you should be in good shape. If you are running R472_G_08.18.16R_0A, then the option to sync with iCal and AddressBook will most likely be grayed out (i.e. you will only be able to the the v551 as a wireless modem and browse your phone via BT).

Curious about one thing. Those who are having problems...how did you install Tiger?
Archive and install, here... and I really haven't had any (serious) problems, apart from the fact that Firefox crashes before it is finished starting up...

Only things are that Mail crashed a couple of times, until I reinstalled gpg, and Safari has "Unexpectedly Quit" two or three times (always when I use cmd-W to close a tab).

For most of those who say that Tiger has given them NO problems, I say this: You haven't done everything there is to do in Tiger yet, then. Because there ARE bugs. Whether or not you've encountered them is entirely due to you, but they are there. We all got the same build of Tiger shipped out to us and they do exist. Have no worries. Apple will take care of them.
There are varying levels of buggery among the Tiger users, and I believe it's the results of how they maintain their computer systems. I have experienced very few bugs, not to be confused with interface quirks, in Tiger since I did do a completely clean install with no third-party hacks to muck the system.

This is one of the reasons why I didn't buy Tiger right away. ;) Let the initial bugs get worked out, and then grab the .1 version. Good to see Apple is addressing these so promptly (of course, they pretty much have to!)
You know what's funny about your statement, if Apple heeded the masses and released 10.4.1 as the GM instead of 8A428, people would be clamoring onto the 10.4.2 bandwagon, saying exactly the same thing you are saying. The bloody Tiger would never be released in it's quest for GM perfection.

generic host process

Lots of people are getting a "generic host process" fault. Hopefully the update will fix that as well.

man i hope 10.4.1 fixes the wireless printing probs im having.....i got an hp multifuntion on my wireless network and when i tell it to print with PAGES it crashes out my system, however before the upgrade it worked great!!

please apple fix this problem

I CCC'd my Panther install to a firewire drive. Then I did a clean install of Tiger. I then ran Migration Assistant using the "from another disk partition" option to bring in all my settings, Applications and home folder contents. I haven't had any issues. I use virtually no third party hacks (I had the PDF plugin for Safari, but that's gone now). Since I updated Popcorn last night, I really have no open issues, at this point, although I'm still looking into remote X11 session problems.
