D-Link Issues

So there are issues with some D-Link items, huh? Ever since I installed Tiger, my wireless router seems to be malfunctioning. All the lights are blinking....my signal is great. Then, the lights on the router go out, I lose the connection to the network all together...then in a couple of seconds, boom, I am back on! Is this related to Tiger, or is this a coincidence? It's a DI-524.

Am I the only one that really likes the new Mail... looks and all...??? Edit: Except matticus008... :)

PS! I miss the status line in Mail, though...
You're not the only one. I much prefer the new look of Mail.

Anyone else think this is critically stupid? A patch released to developers within a week of the OS being released? Bitch all you want about MS but their Consumer Beta Program is a cool idea that Apple should really consider adopting because it sounds as if this release is in response to complaints post release. If Apple had a generic beta program they could probably iron out a lot more of these bugs before the OS goes GM.

Here here... im not a big fan of not being able to adjust my brighness on my display or my firewire drives not showing up in finder half the time. Atleast if they were to release it ahead of time so the general public or those who like being early adopters cold take a stab at it and work out some of this hooplah i might not regret purchasing/installing this OS at release. Microsoft is atleast doing it right by having somewhat open betas so the general public can tear it apart before all end users rip it up.

There are only 2 gripes I hope they'll fix:

1) Dashboard widgets can be permanently part of the desktop instead of floating topmost

and

2) Lower requirements for 4-way iChat

The build is said to fix more than 20 bugs already reported to Apple regarding various software and hardware incompatabilities with Tiger. Key issues regarding stability and reliability of the OS as a whole are the focus
According to the rumor site, the forthcoming update is expected to be released mid to late-May.

I sure hope the update will be free for those of us who just bought Tiger....Does anyone have an answer to this $$$ question?

Yeah.

This is the kind of news I look forward to hearing. A few more updates to Tiger and I will be ready to buy it. Until then everyone can just Beta test it for Apple. :D

I don't think alot of people liked this comment. I sure did. :)

It's called an application.

?

What I was saying was that is the feature that Konfabulator has over Dashboard... that you could pick the level at which the widget stays (desktop, floating, topmost etc.) and its opacity

Dashboard you just drag it onto the desktop and it stays topmost.

Well, Apple did reserve the F-13 key. Maybe you'll get your wish. ;)

I had a kernel crash while minimizing a QuickTime 7 Player window. I reported it to Apple so I assume this update was done for me personally. Thanks, Apple. If, by chance, the update fixes other bugs that other people have had too, that's a nice side benefit.

I have no doubt, that we are getting this 10.4.1 update, because you your report to Apple. Thank you Doctor Q and Apple. ;)

Same problem. Same router that I have. I haven't tried it out yet out if you shorten your computer name to less than 20 characters. I have heard this fixes the problem.

Does the hideous Mail.app interface count as a bug? ;)

As a side note, Cage Fighter works wonders!

I like the clearer, sleeker look of Mail. It's a pity that you don't, but I do. I really hope they don't change it back.

I think they should let you choose if you want the new or the old interface to Mail. that way everyone is happy :D

There are varying levels of buggery among the Tiger users, and I believe it's the results of how they maintain their computer systems...
Really, I always thought it was something to do with being in the Navy :D

But maybe you have to be of English extraction to read it that way.

I haven't been able to do this since 10.3.7 (possibly before) and can't now in 10.3.9 so it isn't a Tiger bug only. I'd reinstall CS but it's not all that big a hassle - yet.

Do you just get a spinning beach ball when you open a contextual menu on the file to be opened? I get that and it takes a good 10 seconds before the menu shows up, however I can then open the file directly into CS.

I have news! Your tip worked!!! How...why...huh? How could something like the computer name be related to airport connectivity?? Strange. Thanks for the tip...just wanted to let you and others know that this fixes the issue. I too own a PBG4 12'' 1.33 Ghz (and a 40 GB iPod too!).

I just want it to fix the kernel panics on my G4 ibook. I've gotten a load of them, and a freash install did not help.
