Playing around with the above files, the option disappears when only the iPod.plist file is removed.

Interesting. The next step would be to find out what entry in the iPod.plist file itself is added when the Touch is plugged in. Then, in theory, one could manually insert it to gain the functionality.

420MB MBP 2.16 C2D from 10.5.2 I hope this fixes my AEBS issues. My card keeps 'scanning' despite already being connected to (any) WiFi. I'll report back later.

any fix on the audio thing at all??............you know, the hiss ,pop ,crackle from the audio out port that affects some headphones and external speakers

i think that's a hardware defect. just buy one of those airplane volume adjuster things.

Oh and joy of joys, the machine now will wake up from standby with a totally blank screen again. I thought I'd seen the end of that with .2

Upgraded our Mac Pro, MacBook Pro and iMac.

All three upgrades went fine.

All software and hardware working fine including outboard firewire audio interface, Cubase, Logic Pro, UAD-1e DSP card, Fusion, MS Office, etc.

Looks like a very stable upgrade overall.

And boy, is it snappier overall!!!! (Could not resist, sorry)

There is no reason not to use software update that I can think of (with perhaps the exception of downloading the combo update to install on multiple machines that you have on a small network without an OS X Server).

Actually, in my case I stopped using Software Update after upgrading to Leopard 10.5.0, because most of the time it would log an update as installed when in actuality, nothing had happened -- no download, no installation, just a reboot. Rerunning the Software Update would just give me a message that my system's up to date, when the application and framework versions told me otherwise.

After updating to 10.5.2, all of the smaller incremental application and security updates have installed properly using Software Update. With a point upgrade, I'm more inclined to download the delta 10.5.3 upgrade.

Found it.

Hopefully you have your Mac (or account, for that matter) associated with an iPod already. Also, back up your existing com.apple.iPod.plist file.

Open the com.apple.iPod.plist with Property List Editor, and change the "Family ID" to 10001. Save.

Open Address Book and check your preferences.

EDIT: The above was tested with an old com.apple.iPod.plist associated with an iPod Mini.

Airport Scanning

Any one else's airport options now grayed out while the airport is scanning?

Considering the MBA's airport ALWAYS seems to be scanning this could be an issue.

Derwood (or anyone else who has installed 10.5.3)--

How is Logic running on your updated machine? Which version of Logic are you using?

Pro 8.0.2 - Haven't had a huge amount of time to fiddle. Will post an update in the Digital Audio forum when I have a bit more time (although I expect someone's probably started a thread there already).

Got a CPU overrun message the first time I launched. Worrying given that it was a light track with only three software instruments and minimal effects processing. Seems OK now after a relaunch.

You can split windows across Spaces but you have to F8 to do it. What you still can't do is grab the top of your mix window, click-hold, shift spaces and drop it in the second space. Minor quibble, but a quibble all the same. You shouldn't have to remember how each program does and doesn't work with Spaces.

I do and don't want to know if it's fixed my driver problems. I can't bring myself to try...

Now the question is, does an iPod, iPhone, etc. being plugged in kick off the sync, or is it an automatic process that occurs at specific intervals.

Has anyone gotten the update to run successfully on an MBA?

Ran 10.5.3 on the wife's MacBook Air. Now it will not start- I get the bong, the Apple logo, the wheel, and then it dies. Called Apple and tried to boot to an install disk from my MBP- got a "do not enter" symbol. Apple says HW failure, send it in.

Anyone successfully update a MacBook Air???

Photoshop CS3 seems to get on with Spaces now (no need to click on desktop and then back on an image to get the toolbars to appear) - and Spotlight has indexed my Mail again - I'm happy. :)

Seemed a rather uneventful update. Downloaded (MacMini - 420mb) couple of reboots and it's backup and working!

Not noticed any improvements, as I was happy with 10.5.2.

Doing the same on the MacBook now (198mb)

Thought that only affected Intel-based Macs running Tiger, and Apple already posted a software fix for that issue last July.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305840

I haven't heard anything about this issue popping up with Macs running Leopard.

That worked! I wonder, though, if it will cause any problems next time I plug in an iPod. Still, a very simple fix. :)

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. :D

Edit: But looks as though I will have to wait a little longer for my Canon XSi (EOS 450d) to be supported. Darn.

Apple just released a Raw update with it being supported!
"This update extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2 and iPhoto ’08 for the following cameras:

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi/Kiss Digital x2/450D
Epson R-D1
Leaf AFi 7
Leaf AFi 6
Leaf AFi 5
Pentax K200D
Pentax K20D"
