A bug in 10.5.3

I've just found a bug in 10.5.3. If you are watching a movie in QuickTime at fullscreen, the dock will suddenly appear on the screen after 3 minutes of play. It has happened with every movie I've tried.

Office 2008 improved.

Apparently this update has helped Office 2008 open MUCH quicker. I saw this posted elsewhere and confirmed it on my macbook. The first time I opened Word it was still a bit slow, but after quitting, all subsequent starts were quick. This is true with all Office 2008 apps. Somebody suggests it has to do with a fix to fonts?

In any case, it appears to be true that 10.5.3 is allowing Office 08 to open much quicker.

Can someone verify if this bug exsists, watching qt movie in full screen, dock pops up at 3 mins. Thanks

Like daneoni I also do not have this bug, I just tried it with 2 movies for longer than 3 minutes just to check. Combo update here.

536 Mb

536 MB on my 2.2 SR MBP... but I am running 10.5.0 with minimal updates because every new update seemed to break something else. I intend to wait a bit, see what the verdict is - then maybe do a backup and give it a whirl.

My MBP seems to be running sluggish after installing the update. I have the 2.33Ghz model, I'm going to try to reboot and see if that helps at all.

yea, it looks like that is the case. after restart (the first program load is always slowers, the subsequent ones are faster), used to be like 10 seconds or so. Now it is more like 5 seconds. could be really fonts issue as you said since that was what used to take long time to load.

Nope ... this problem doesn't exist for me ... Sure glad the OP didn't say that it happens 30min into the video .. lol.

I had a slight problem right after I installed the update: my entire keyboard and touchpad was not functioning at all. I restarted again though, and everything is fine.

Mine was about ~190mb on 1.83ghz CD macbook.

I have always been a bit scared about shutting off electronics (computer/ipod/camera/etc) during updates, but on first boot after download was finished... my macbook got stuck on a light blue screen with the dotted circle loading sign. Was stuck for 2 minutes and stopped spinning.

So I shut it off and back on.
Started installing normally, until it said "Running Installer Scripts" and the progress bar didn't move for another 2 minutes. Thought it had happend again, but it finished all of a sudden.

Install is complete and no problems this far.

Finder, SuperDuper and CCC fail with large copies to my external via USB, I have to do it in small parts :(

2.2 SR MBP, 420MB download for me, installed perfectly, and two reboots later all was back up and running.

Seemed to be some additional activity on my disks (both internal and external) after the first reboot, but I guess that's just spotlight sorting itself out (same thing happened after 10.5.1 and 10.5.2, IIRC).

Seemed to be a very easy upgrade; I did notice (as have others) the fans kicking in after while, but again that seems to be spotlight doing its thing (so I'm prepared to let it run until it has 'satisfied' itself!)

The upgrade - as others have mentioned - seems to have sorted a couple of issues with Adobe's CS3 applications when used under spaces (hooray!)

I've also noticed that since the update, my 'ambient light' sensing seems to be happening a little more often than under 10.5.2 (where the screen dims/keyboard lights up) - still, it's now 00:05 in the UK, and I've had a couple of beers, so that may be just my eyesight slipping out of focus... ;-)

Strange.. I have a folder on my dock that opens in Finder with a single click. I think I dragged it on to the dock.

Stop making stuff up FANBOYS and get away from Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field. It's baking your brains.

THERE IS NO WAY TO SINGLE CLICK A FOLDER IN THE DOCK AND HAVE THE FOLDER OPEN AS A FOLDER.

Sure, you can open it as a stack, fan, grid, or list, BUT NOT JUST AS A FOLDER! You have to click in TWO places to simply open a damn folder! And yes, this is important because I have folders with HUNDREDS of links and files in them organized in the manner I require. None of the other options are useful with folders with hundreds of files.

Why remove a feature from TIGER? It just makes no sense.

Ridiculous and very Windows like. This is a simple fix. Just do it Apple.

And I've used Apple computers since 1982, so please don't even go there on my alleged love of Windows, NOT!

DUH!

Its not perfect, but you can press CMD+Click.

With the column view, it acts as if you're viewing where the folder is, but unfortunately its not the same in other views.
