Sad news for all of you who tried the hack to enable Google Contact Sync when any iPod is synced with the computer. Apparently the sync will almost all the time reset the Family ID value in the iPod plist from 10001 to whatever it was before, turning off the Google Contact Sync.

Looks like we are going to have to wait for this to be officially supported.

It's 4 am in Slovenia now and... these are my speeds :-D

Each of us in the dorm have this bandwidth (it's not shared bandwidth). P2P flies! :-D
With T-2.net you get 20Mbps symmetrical FTTH for 28 euros a month at home :-D
I have to say... things are moving a little faster here lately than in other countries :p

Will suffer a little though when I move back to Spain. 20/1 Mbps connections will seem slow compared to the connection I have now :-S

Its funny, America developes the technology, but we are slower on implementing it. i heard wireless is incredible in Europe.

"Includes additional RAW image support for several cameras."

Does anybody know where I can see which cameras are now supported?

I haven't installed yet. In my software update panel I see two files, one is for 10.5.3 and one is a camera RAW updater with the following list of newly supported cameras:

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi/Kiss Digital x2/450D
Epson R-D1
Leaf AFi 7
Leaf AFi 6
Leaf AFi 5
Pentax K200D
Pentax K20D

Screen sharing on iChat and Audio conversations etc.. doesn't seem to work after a few minutes from 10.5.3 to someone with 10.5.2

Still not showing up.

I've tried repairing disk permissions and it still wont show up, Is there some reason for this? Is it because i have Vista also installed with bootcamp? just a guess since i really don't know.

I know on my macbook it downloaded the update in the background. It only presented me with the option to install it when completed. Is yours doing the same thing?

10.5.3 broke mail. Can anyone help?

The app would launch, it'd sit there for about 3 seconds (I can't click anything within the app) and than crashes to desktop...

why couldn't something LESS important break?

MacBook Pro
Core2Duo 2.4GHz
4GB RAM
160GB HD
256, 8600mGT

Thanks all

Hmm, i don't think so, because my internet is still going at the same speed, as in nothing's loading slow. But i hope it didn't do it when i first logged onto Leopard this morning because i've restarted the mac so i hope it didn't stuff up the background download if there is one.

Found it.

Hopefully you have your Mac (or account, for that matter) associated with an iPod already. Also, back up your existing com.apple.iPod.plist file.

Open the com.apple.iPod.plist with Property List Editor, and change the "Family ID" to 10001. Save.

Open Address Book and check your preferences.

EDIT: The above was tested with an old com.apple.iPod.plist associated with an iPod Mini.

Now the question is, does an iPod, iPhone, etc. being plugged in kick off the sync, or is it an automatic process that occurs at specific intervals.

Syncing the iPhone seems to be needed to initiate an address book to gmail sync.

Have you tried getting rid of the preference file?

HyperZboy Are You Serious?

I'm just glad I don't need to live with you on a daily basis.

I can appreciate that you liked something the old way and don't like the new approach.

I don't appreciate your apparent anger at people trying to help you out.

I personally like stacks a lot and feel it is a big improvement. I like being able to use the functionality of stacks and since I use column view the most a quick command click gets me to where I want to be in another regard.

If it is such a big deal to you why not look for a work around, or go back to Tiger, or at least do something productive rather than belittle others.

Again I ask are you serious? Is a mouse click such a big deal?

I would like to thank those who have tried to help out. The alias hint will come in handy - so I benefitted from your time. Thanks.

So I am reading a mixed bag of things on post.... Can anyone tell me how it affected the following, as that is my setup?

Parallels with Xp - only have office apps running (Office 2003, visio, onenote, and a couple of others; and also premier elements and photoshop elements).

Native on Mac OS X:
iLife
iWork
Aperature
Final Cut Express
Bento
Printshop
MacFonts
Quickverse
Chmox
Audacity
Standard Apps that come on a Macbook

like I said, I do not have much loaded as everything I used to have to have an app for in Windows comes standard on a Mac, and what I installed natively is better and cheaper in cost. Once I have the money for 3 more apps, all that I will run in parallels (in order to take advantage of the faster CPU than any PC I have now) will be .net and SQL (since I have to learn it for work).

The more interesting update

What about a Psystar system ! When is their updater coming :)

Sorry I checked 14 pages before I posted

Check console and click on "All Messages"

The Software Update service will show up there and it will tell you what is going on.

ok, here is my software update log, im not exactly sure what i am looking for, but it seems as if everything is installed except for this update

As a recent convert from the PC windows world, I remember having to do the following to keep my machine happy -How does one do these on a mac?

1. Delete temporary internet files.
2. Disk cleanup and compress old files.
3. Disk defrag
4. Clean out application cache and backup files (that are stored in temporary folders).

I have been working with a lot of large files (including video), and also un-installing windows apps from Parallels to install the Mac versions (if available or I find an alternative) to run natively.

Because of these large files and my internet use; I do not want my mac to, well umm, turn into a dog like my dell . Is any of the above even necessary on a mac (I already figured out how to compress down the parallels virtual disk....;)

I know this isn't really the place to discuss this, but I have the same question...

Calling all Hackintosh's Apple just released 10.5.3, time to download and install. I hear it MAYYYYYYYYY work. Please install, Pretty please???:D

You should look in the "All Messages" area under Log Database Queries, not in Log Files > /Library/Logs/Software Update.log.

The combo update is specifically designed for updating for more than 1 version, i.e 10.5.1 to 10.5.3. Software update on the other hand will install the correct version for your machine. This is shown by the fact that some users have a 420MB update and some have a 198MB update..
Uh, no. I have 10.5.2 on my MBA, and went to Software Update and was presented with a 420Mb download. I downloaded the combo instead.

My Mac Book Air keyboard not lighting up after 10.5.3

I installed 10.5.3 on my Macbook Air. Now the keyboard does not light up any more. Did this happen to anyone else???

At 198-536 MB, it'd be nice if Apple gave the option to send out CD's for those of us on 1.5 MBit DSL.

How about those of us on a 384 KB/s DSL line?

you need to free up some space Cas, OS X works best when theres at least 10% disk space free for swap and so it can defrag properly on the fly. buy an external or something or delete those watched videos.

I downgraded from an 80 GB HDD, to a 40 GB HDD, it's hard to delete some things. I do have an external, but I don't usually use my iBook where it's located, and it would be a pain to keep having to hook it up to get a file...

Ah well. I guess my iTunes library goes on the PC, now. :(
