CMD-Click does NOT open the FOLDER! Next.....

Do people here even try stuff before shooting their mouths off???

And THAT removes all of the OTHER options to view the folder in case you might want to view a folder in different ways for different purposes!

Not to mention it's just a clunky windows-like workaround solution.

MADDENING!

I just refuse to re-arrange the way I've organized my ENTIRE BUSINESS just because of an Apple GUI whim that has been lambasted by practically the entire Mac community since Day 1 of Leopard's release!

Ugggghhhhh!

May I suggest lowering your sugar intake and laying off the redbull(tm) ?

Update is all roses for me so far. Powerbook G4. I'll try the MacPro later. Is it the same combo updater for both Intel and PPC?

The only reason Apple changed the dock since 10.5 is because of public outcry from people like me.
Otherwise, you wouldn't even have the options you have now.
No. Apple changed the dock because of the very private outcry to their feedback page. I suggest you do the same.

It's 4 am in Slovenia now and... these are my speeds :-D

F*** it. I'm moving to Slovenia.

all good for me

I've updated to 10.5.3 on my MBP and alls good - no issues at all. Switching spaces does seem 'snappier'. I'm looking fwd to not having to deal with the switching-spaces-window-hiding issue. Havn't had any issues with XP in parallels. I'll be upgrading my wife's machine and the tv server tonight when I get home.

Syncing contacts to google without an iPhone/Touch would be nice - perhaps they're testing it with those people only and then will enable it for everyone.

Spanning Sync has contact-google syncing in beta, I'll use it when its ready, from either source. Don't much like using beta software for syncing, for obvious reasons.

Yes I have, the app now launches, but when I click on a mail message, it would crash.

Whats next?

I'd try creating a new test user in system preferences, log into it, and play around with mail, if it works fine you know the problem probably exists in your user and not the application itself.

Try stuff with permissions, caches, and such. You may want to check out the program called Onyx. I don't know if it is 10.5.3 friendly and don't remember all the cleaning it does related to mail but it seems like there was some stuff in there for cleaning it up. Sorry I'm not AppleCare but am trying to help out a bit.

Calling all Hackintosh's Apple just released 10.5.3, time to download and install. I hear it MAYYYYYYYYY work. Please install, Pretty please???:D

Its already working in Hackintosh, with PC_EFI we are pretty much using an unmodified system.

I never had any major problems with leopard since its release but i haven't had a single issue with 10.5.3 so far. My only gripe is that after updating it deleted my mouse preferences and my spotlight preferences

Updated Alum iMac and Macbook. Safari seems snappier. :D

Seriously though, I can swear that my display looks better. I haven't read through the whole thread but did they do something with the graphics? I have a 20" Alum.

Thanks.

First 198MB ... then 420

I've had a really strange experience on my dual 2.7 GHz G5 CPU (8 GB RAM).

When I logged onto software update there were two sw updates to install; the RAW cam support update and the OS X 10.5.3 Update.

The OS X 10.5.3 update showed size at 198MB.

I downloaded only the RAW cam support first and when the software update refreshed, the OS X 10.5.3 then showed a size of 420MB.

Anyway at my internet speed, it will take all day for me to download 420MB. I have 4 Macs to update so I'm going to download once for all 4 computers from the Mac support site.

Installed on my MacBook Pro, not seeing any problems so far.

Using Time Machine to back up to a USB disk connected to my Airport Extreme router is still working for me (first thing I checked). Wireless is fine. Haven't found any apps that won't launch.

Didn't expect any problems, but some people in this thread have reported problems with each of these items.

Oh, and I didn't repair permissions first - never do. :D

Uh, no. I have 10.5.2 on my MBA, and went to Software Update and was presented with a 420Mb download. I downloaded the combo instead.

Congratulations, why no?. He was explaining why Apple makes a combo update and what it's meant to be used for. Just because you used it in a different manner doesn't change the original reason the combo update was created does it?

I know this isn't really the place to discuss this, but I have the same question...

Download MainMenu or Onyx

very Windows like

STOP using that term. Nothing that you have described is 'windows-like'. You simply are using that to mean 'something that I don't like'.

We don't care if you don't like it, we're sick of hearing you complain about your single-clicking obsession. It has nothing to do with this thread topic.

Oops. That could be a show stopper... Haven't tried it on that machine yet, but are you seeing problems?
I wouldn't call it a show stopper yet but that's the most invasive piece of third party software I do have installed.

I'll uninstall it and see how it goes this time around.

10.5.3 & Zfs

with the 10.5.3 update, is there any hints at ZFS? I only ask b/c HFS+ was included in a software update.

On a separate note, has there been any major progress in the ZFS port since June? Does anyone think there will be an announcement involving ZFS at WWDC?

Google Address Book

Just updated to 10.5.3 and it wasn't showing up on my iMac. Plugged my iPod Touch in, synced and presto it now gives me the option to sync with Google. Sweet :D

OSX is vulnerable

Granted, those [Flash] exploits are probably Windows-only, but now that Macs use the same processor architecture as Windows boxes...

http://news.cnet.com/8301-10784_3-9954408-7.html

"The vulnerability, which affects systems including Windows and Mac OS X, could allow an attacker to take control of the computer or cause it to crash if the user opens specially crafted Flash content, according to the advisory."

Note that this vulnerability is a scripting vulnerability, so PPC/x86/x64 is not relevant. The Flash player runs the script, not the OS or CPU.

That link to a cute Utube video might be an invitation to disaster....

Sites folder has a different icon.

You can now browse Mail backups just as you would iPhoto backups.

Modifying iPod.plist with Property List Editor does work and allows non-iPhone/iTouch owners to sync with their Google contacts.

Delicious Library 2 scrolls much smoother.

after the update it seems that my macbook has been running much hotter than usual. i am repairing the persmissions but its been in the high 80's since the update. i thought it was Quicksilver causing it so i closed that but its still been up there, can someone please recommend a way to see what is causing it to run so hot, thanks in advance.
