It has been like that since Leopard iirc.
I'm pretty sure I recall it giving us a 2 minute count-down prior to 10.5.6.

I think that was fixed for me with 10.5.5
Did exactly that, and rebooted.....icon hasn't changed though....

That's my battery meter. Notice something missing?
The power selector! I am forced to run on battery performance now... WTF APPLE...
Forced?
Go to System Preferences --> Energy Saver.
It is annoying they took that out, but to be honest, I never switch between Energy modes anyway. If I want longer battery, I just dim down my display and turn the display off when I'm AFK.
Mine never did start. I opened the TM disk and found the latest backup directory to "Get Info" on it. When I did that the disk started spinning and TM started "backing up" (it hasn't finished yet and I have to shutdown so I don't know if it will). Also found this thread:

claims to uncheck shutdown disks in Energy Prefs

Why did they do this?

Sorry I stand corrected. We can also retrieve the old feature through Energy Saver Preferences.Yup, my battery meter is also the same. Seems like the previous feature can only be resurrected through systems preferences.
Can anyone point me to these supposed iTunes graphics updates? I don't notice anything new.
I don't know if anyone's caught this...
The restart screen is kind of different, and it no longer waits 2 minutes, only 1.
The update is different sizes depending on what machine you have. I had 190MB install as well but for recent unibody people I believe theirs was 372MB. The combo update was 668.8MBs.

I just tried it on my Macbook with 10.5.5 and it is 1 minute. It has always been 1 minute on Leopard for me, on both iMac and Macbook.
Am I dreaming or is h264 playback now handled through GPU (like on the unibody macbooks)? Activity monitor seems to be showing less CPU utilization during playback, can someone confirm this?
Hey Guys,
After the new update (10.5.6) I have the following problem:
When I try to launch mail.app - if will start, but crash right away.... Tried rebooting, doing this several times.. no change.
As soon as mail.app is launched, it will crash/quit with the error report/relaunch box.
Anyone can help?..
Would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
