Downloaded 10.5.6 and my Macbook has been terribly slow doing everything just about. Can I go back to the older version? I'm also getting some weird todo.mbox folder in my Mail app that I can't delete no matter what I do.

You can go back if you have a Time Machine, SuperDuper, Carbon Copy Cloner, or other suitable backup, but there's no way to "uninstall" an OS upgrade. Sorry about your problems. I haven't seen any on my aluminum MB or Power Mac G4, and I'm about to install the upgrade on my wife's Blackbook.

Have you tried installing the combo update? You can install it right on top of the one from Software Update, and it has been known to fix some problems. MacFixit published some solutions for some 10.5.6 problems. Their suggestions for Mail issues are: apply the combo update, delete Mail's preferences file, rebuild mailboxes.

Omg

The 10.5.6 combo went well - however - out of the blue - all of my mailboxes with their content have been lost

I've also had the spinning beach ball when trying to open mail and Word - this is frustrating and so Windows like.

Here is my console message:

12/18/08 6:36:28 PM Mail[115] DeliveryAccounts are missing. Trying to restore from backup. (null)

Did you try "rebuilding" the mailboxes? In Mail, under the menu bar, navigate to Mailbox/Rebuild. Do this for each mailbox.

I always...

Before upgrading, I always use MacCleanse (w/ all options selected as applicable) to prepare my system. So far, all my upgrades have gone well.

The mailboxes themselves are gone except for the mobileme box - there are no other boxes showing to "rebuild".

Oh, gotcha...I'll try to read up on this and get back to you if I find anything.

Do you use TM? Try opening Mail and navigating back and time, selecting "Restore" for each mailbox.

No TM in use - I am going to reload all my accounts now - just wondering what caused this.

Wow one great new feature is the global resizing of websites in safari with two fingers gesture on trackpad. Previously it would only resize the size of the text.

Pretty cool try it out!

this update caused me more problems than it fixed. The mac is much slower and I cannot reboot it unless I turn off the external HDs. Doesn't apple test their fixes before releasing them?

Success on G4 Quicksilver 867 dual core - extra long restart but this machine takes five to ten minutes to start anyway!

Really. When is 10.5.7 due out?

If you'd tell people what you're experiencing, you might actually get some help (and BTW you might want to check your own signature).

MacFixIt posted an article on problems with 10.5.6 along with some solutions.
Fine, if you want: the crosscompiler toolchain is not working, Mathematica 7.0 is working up, I can't get attachments through Mail.app, my Keychain is corrupted, mDNSResponder has ceased functioning, Safari has lost the "always show tabs" option, the Application Level Firewall (ALF) rules have been erased and can't be updated, and as a consequence of mDNSResponder/Bonjour not working Time Capsule backups have ceased to function.

No, I'm not a typical user. If I say it's pathetic, it probably is.

ouch...i've never heard about such a bad update!

now a couple of days after the update, my mbp is really acting weird..

Sometimes it boots very slow and sometimes faster than a normal boot.
Sometimes apps launch a lot quicker than other times..

When it boots fast, every app launches superfast.
When it boots slow, every app launches slow, safari takes 6 seconds, while in a fast start up boot, it's not even 1 second!

can anyone explain this behaviour?

Erratic Mouse Behavior Upon Waking from Sleep

My mouse is spazzing out all over the place once I wake my MacPro from sleep. This started happening immediately after the update. The mouse will freeze then start flying all over the place. No other issues as of yet. But this one is annoying as I have to reboot every morning or whenever I let my machine sleep in order to fix the problem. I thought this was an issue a while back but was eventually fixed. Anyone else having this issue?

I reported to MacFixIt on Wednesday. I really hope Apple comes out with an update to this update pronto

I can no longer do a video chat via ichat. Is anyone else having this problem? it gives an error when connecting with the computer. It started after I installed 10.5.6. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

after updating my imac to 10.5.6 the usb might mouse doesn't track properly sometimes it randomly moves. Is this a problem with 10.5.6 or a hardware problem?
